I need to speak PORTUGUESE here in GUINEA - BISSAU |S7E36|

In this video I am crossing the border into Guinea-Bissau. Guinea-Bissau was under the rule of Portugal for many centuries and Portuguese is still the official language here. By far the majority of the locals speak Creole or other languages, but since I don't speak those languages, I have to try my best Portuguese here.

Dear Mr and Mrs Schoenmaker, if you are reading this, thank you for having Noraly. You could not have picked a more appropriate name for her. I wonder at what point in her life you knew she was destined for greatness and would be loved by hundreds of thousands and millions of people around the world. She is bringing so much entertainment, joy, and education to us. I can only imagine how proud you must be as I type this with tears in my eyes watching her drone shots of Guinea Bassau with music. And of course, Thank you Noraly. Peace ❤❤❤

The Dutch Slave Coast (Dutch: Slavenkust) refers to all those factories owned by the Dutch West India Company on the so-called Slave Coast, which is located on the coasts of present-day Ghana, Benin, Togo and Nigeria. The primary purpose of this series of trading posts was to supply slaves for plantations in the colonies in America. The presence of the Dutch on the Slave Coast began with the establishment of a factory in Offra in 1660. But later, the epicenter of the slave trade moved to Ouidah, where the English and French had also established other factories.

Having worked on ships in the past I understand that we used a lot of power, especially in port when the cargo discharge pumps were running. But for a whole country, that a lot, the power ship must be specially built, HFO or Heavy Fuel Oil is horrible stuff, has to be purified heated and filtered a lot before the engines can burn it, we had quite extensive exhaust gas recovery systems to remove pollutants. Interesting video, fascinating your voyage of discovery how these countries operate, corruption is a way of life and the ordinary man in the street has to fight to survive.

Wow. Thank you Noraly. I have been watching your journeys for quite a while now, intrigued by the cultures you experience and the landscapes you encounter. This single episode has had the greatest educational value for me - a privileged westerner in Sydney Australia - on how these west African countries and their peoples were mistreated in the past. Your commentary inspired me to research the slave trade - something that had never really entered my mind previously, because we never really encountered that in Australia. You have broadened my mind and I am now more aware of the past and present struggles of the people and the countries in this part of the world. Who would have thought that a bit of KZread voyeuristic escapism could be so educational. Thanks again Noraly for your (brave) adventures. Your vlogs are way better than many documentaries and school history lessons. 👍👍

Hello World Traveler Noraly. Very fine choice of places to visit and excellent videography. The drone gives a unique perspective, allowing the viewer a very comprehensive understanding of the area you are traveling through. I wonder; after this many years traveling why these counties don't know who you are when you ask for passage. Your reputation is impeccable and the tourist industry would benefit greatly by your easy ingress and egress so you could spend more time exposing the richness of each area you visit instead of bouncing from place to place working out the details like it's never been done befor. Thank you for remaining so pleasant while these places make you jump through all those hoops. Take care and we'll be waiting to see you in your next video! ben/ michigan

What an interesting and very informative episode about Guinea-Bissau. Believe it or not, I had learned a lot of things from you Noraly. Things that are normally out of scope from my field of interests. I consider myself lucky to have learned it this way, through you and your adventures, because I can retain them in my mind, rather than reading it somewhere. Slave trading of "black" before is very inhumane. They were looked down and treated low because of their color and poor life status. Had seen several docu movies too about it and always brought tears to my eyes. Heart-breaking to see families torn apart being sold to slavery. Anyway, I always love it every time you welcome us into another country. I am always anticipating for it, and say it out loud with you regardless of where or what time I am watching. Again, thank you heaps for sharing another adventure, See you again on Sunday episode. Take care Noraly
