Getting accurate colors in photography can be pretty difficult especially wen in different lighting conditions. The Spyderchecker color chart helps to sleeve this problem. A photography color chart allows you to acutely generate the colors in a photo to give you an accurate starting point for your editing. This is a photography color checker tutorial to show you both how and why we use and color chart.
The first part of the video I talk a little bit about photography color theory to help you understand why we are doing the and how it could effect you photography color grading and editing.
The Spyder checker photography color palette is very simple to set up and use and adds almost no time to your photography work flow.

This was the final part in my photography calibration series and I hop e you enjoyed it.

    This is excellent info. I have been trying to learn as much as I could about getting my colors right as well as calibrating my monitor. A friend of mine wanted to buy one of my pictures and getting it to look right in print was a nightmare. Thank for sharing this information. Love the videos you are putting out.

    That was amazing. I am battling to get the colour right for a beaded bracelet that is a specific maroon colour. So hard to figure what needs tweaking to bring it from brown to maroon. Now I know what to do. Thank you.

    👍Clear and useful demo, especially the color gels w/“static cling” to the whiteboard - highly effective. In LR would it matter if you used the wb eye dropper to sample a black or grey instead of a white square?

    So how about making an ICC profile for using on Capture One? I can see how to do it if I had bought X-Rite with their profile software but not on the Datacolour SpyderCheckr I have just bought as part of their complete Photo kit.

    Hi Eddie! This might sound dumb but do you think I could bring one of these charts or a regular grey card for white balance for my landscape work to take a picture of on my digital and then use that to help colour correct my film images? A hopeful thought to help me save lots of time cursing during colour correction in Photoshop! I already used these when I used to shoot digital but obviously it was possible to do it in camera

  • @clearlyed

    this can definitely work for landscapes. the importance is that the light hitting the color checker card is the same as he subject. so if you subject is a landscape then make sure that the light is the same. for eample on a cloudy day its going be easy. but if the sun is out and you are taking a photo but the color checker is in the shade then the image will not be correct. so in the situation you just make sure that the color checker is also in the sun. I hope this helps.

    If you use this or a regular grey card for landscape shooting do you have to turn 180 degrees to get the same light on it as the landscape has?

    I am a passionate, amateur photographer. I recently took photos of a friend's daughter before her formal (prom). It was an absolute nightmare getting uniform colour and took me many, many hours to adjust in LR. They still weren't great but one of these could be the answer. Thank you.

    Great. Ed....can you please spend some time explaining the reason we should have a 10 bit 4 4 2 in video and how does it affect our color

  • @clearlyed

    @clearlyed

    5 жыл бұрын

    well thats a very different topic when it comes to video. but basically 10 bit 422 contains a wider range of color meaning the colors contain more information. This allows you to do a lot more in post production and the overall image should contain more detail and less artifacts.

    it depends on what software you use with the target how accutent colors you will have..

  • @clearlyed

    @clearlyed

    5 жыл бұрын

    I haven't checked it with different software however I expect that if you get different curacies with different software then that software will have this limitations built in therefor if you are editing in that software then you overall editing accuracy maybe skewed too. This is definitely and interesting thought though and I am sure we could do many minute tests to figure out the nuances. it would be pretty interesting to too
