GEOSynths - Synth Show Reviews - Behringer Odyssey

Ғылым және технология

So I jumped at the Pre-Order on Thomann and a couple of weeks later, here it is...The Behringer Odyssey.
It's more of an Overview and my opinion, having owned the Korg Version before...It's a great Synth and that price...wow!

Great review. Nice to hear it used musically rather than just blips and beeps that so many synth reviews contain. I’m very tempted by this synth but it is big and I’ll have to see what space I’ve got when my new studio is up and running. Thank you.

@@HotStrange in the end I decided to stick with my Korg Odyssey. If I really need to sequence it I can do that via my Akai MPC500 and run it through a Lexicon MPX100 effects unit. Both add ons are superior to what the Behringer has to offer and I have them already just sitting down not being used. I do think the full size Behringer is really nice as a modern update but I'm good with my Korg version which has the official ARP logo on it. I know you will have a lot of fun with your BARP

I think the Arps sound sweeter in the mix than Moogs, but I recognize it is just my opinion. Moogs might be great for thick bass sounds, but I prefer the sounds of Arps, Roland’s and Korgs because they leave space for other instruments without massive EQ.

Nice. Subbed and liked. Just few questions. Can you tempo sync the Odyssey straight up with the MIDI, or from the other inputs in the back? Or Can you for example plug it on external sequencer like the Korg SQ 1 and use tempo sync through the SQ 1s sync jack? My current setup is pretty much built around Korg Monologue, Korg Minilogue XD and Korg Electribe Sampler, which all are tempo synced via the sync jakcs.

Behringer has added some well-thought-out features, although the effects could have been more on the high-end.

One question regarding the Odyssey midi implementation, is it me or there are few issues when connected to LogicX? i.e. a loop with the notes, whenever I’m trying to record an arpeggios the notes will stop ( jammed ), another one is when recording midi parts at time the notes are just randomly placed and with different values of the actual ones I’ve played. I am a big fan of early Numan stuff and like to make my own demo's of his stuff. to this end I have a Fostex 4 track, a Voyager Minimoog Old School and a Karp keyboard. I also have the Behringer Model D, to get the grittier sounds of the Moog that the Voyager have removed from their models. This though is the first keyboard from Behringer that I think will be a flop! The Odyssey is such a niche market and the Karp connected to a master keyboard as mine is, such a better product. Sequencer? I have a dark time. Effects Roland analogue chorus and delay. Mr Uli has not paid a penny to ARP. KORG has. So I am going to wait for the Pro One or the CS80. For the extra couple of centimetres, for me it's not worth it.
