Thank you for the video. I am incredibly un-handy and always get easily overwhelmed when faced with the prospect of having to fix anything at all. I'm thankful for KZread. But I was actually able to do this, and now our heated dry works again! It was just as easy as the video implies. Thank you.

Thank you!!! I just fixed my dishwasher for $32.60 for a genuine GE part and about 1/2 hour total, saving me the $950 my wife was about to spend on a new unit. Thanks again!!

Very helpful! We were able to clean ours out and put it back - and this was just the set of instructions we needed to do it successfully. Thank you!

Same here. Our washer stopped filling with water. Checked the water valve and it worked. Pulled the flood switch and gave it a good shake. Nothing. Gave it a washdown with hot water and got a good teaspoon of gunk out of it. Shook it again and you could hear the float rattling around in there like it's supposed to. Put it back in and all is well!!!

@@stevematda976 Our cleaning didn’t hold up long - we ended up having to buy a new flood switch after all. Still, it was a cheap fix and now it works better than ever!

Would a bad float switch allow the washer sound like it is trying to run, but not fill with any water at all when you try to start it?

@@mickjager5974 I think so! That's what happened with ours, anyway - it would run, but without any water. Replacing the flood switch completely fixed the issue for us.

Mine flooded a couple times and then the heat stopped working and a lot of forums I saw said to replace this for heat also. Just replaced mine I'll get back to if it works.

What should we do if there's pooling water in there that won't drain? Is it still safe to replace it or do we need to get all the water out first?

That happens sometimes, if you remove the kick plate at the bottom of the dishwasher you should be able to see that harness and the hole it fell out of. Just push it back up thru and your all set.
