Gauge 1 Percy Replica Model | Building the Eye Mechanism

Build log of the eye mechanism for the Gauge 1 Percy replica series. In this video, I undergo different challenges during the build process of the mechanism. It’s not a perfect nor accurate eye mechanism any means, but I’m just happy that I was even able to get it working! The TV series style mechanism was a new learning experience for me, and I am grateful that I got to expand my skills by using different methods to build something I've done before in a new way. Unironically the sound design in this video is awesome. I just wish the background music was just a little louder because it's so fun! It makes the whole process feel like a hero's journey!

Yep! The overall eye mechanism set up should work for just about any character from the TV series.
Am i the only one who noticed a spark coming from below Percy in the first clip?

Well, I'm very sorry you had to through all the problems. I really hope you can fix the eye mechanism in the near future so you won't have to deal with wonky eyes.
I suppose your doing a eye mech for Thomas too?

Absolutely!
I think the issue with the misaligned eyes is that there is too much play between the tube and the rod, my suggestion would be to make a sort if ball and socket joint between the block and stem you could probably get away with using a lego technic universal joint honestly.
He looks good so where's his green paint?

Do you remember the story ideas I gave you? I was thinking of the other films before this came out. You had more time on your replica models but less on writing, I suppose a model comes first?

i saw a little funni spark also i have this old engine way back its model and its side rods are jamming it cuz the front wheels making the side rod go up and the back one is making it go down?

I believe the spark might be caused by dirt that accumulates on either Percy's wheels or the track, of which then I would need to clean. To be quite honest, I'm not completely sure what you're asking. What type of model engine do you have that's causing the side rod issue?
