    Thank you! This was so easy! I was going to call my propane company to adjust these burners on my new Whirlpool stove. They wanted $150 to do this, it took me 5 minutes. I was using doubled up heat defusers to simmer stuff and even then it was too hot. Bless you!

    Thank you so much!! I can’t believe how easy this was to do - took me 5 minutes after watching for 2 minutes - you can’t imagine how long I had been needing to do this to my burners! I couldn’t find any info about adjusting flame height in the new stove manual, read it start to finish. There are no other videos like this out there! Most info is about flames that are too low, not too high. Or I found worthless articles that described opening the burner plate and doing some stuff I couldn’t follow, with no images. I am thrilled to know how to do this now and I think you are a genius!! Using the knob tubes-so brilliant! This simple trick will change my kitchen life! I cannot thank you enough for posting this.

    @@basicworks1 Is this just for Whirlpool made ranges ? Just bought a new Amana gas range AGR6603 and it's a revised model. I know Amana is made by Whirlpool as Amana is just a name now that Whirlpool owns when they bought Maytag. The older version had excellent simmering and now the new burner heads are removable and larger with more BTU output. I bought the range thinking it had the old style burners because I actually couldn't find a live model of it except in one appliance store. I bought it for consumer reports rating that it simmered excellent but I believe that was with the older fixed heads sealed to the top. I care more about a lower flame for simmering than higher heat output. I currently have in my new home a Whirlpool made Kenmore ultra bake gas range that's an older model, but looks very similar to the Amana I bought to eventually replace it.

    Thank you! I was so disappointed in my new Whirlpool gas range the low flame was way too high to properly simmer or to just keep anything warm! I used to love cooking with gas because of the almost infinite variability of the flame. Something that my Whirlpool looked like it lacked. Made these adjustments last night in literally 5 minutes to all my burners. Can't wait to take it for a test drive!!!!!

    I have one of those oval centre burners on my new range. I was adjusting the flame heights, but on that one, I can't adjust it higher no matter which way I turn the screw. When I bring it down to low, the flame just goes out. It's there a way to increase the flame?

    Odd? Our oblong center burner has never gotten high/hot enough to effectively cook on the cast iron griddle plate. Attempting this adjustment i find that turning the screw as far as it can go from midpoint has no further increase in flame height? On High the oblong flame barely crests the burner cap, maybe a bad valve - any thoughts?

    Very informative, I suspected that small screw behind the knob had to do with flame intensity. In my situation the back burners light with the igniters, the front ones click but don't light unless I apply a match. Any ideas on what is the issue? Thank you!

  • @sand0077

    @sand0077

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@basicworks1 I took the cooktop completely apart, cleaned, tested and reassembled everything and all igniters function. The constant clicking seems to have stopped for now on the affected igniter. The gas flow appears to be correct at least to the back burners as the back burners fire up as they should but the front burners don't and must be started with a match even though the igniters are clicking. The spark going to each of the igniters is a blue color and the igniter module seems to be doing it's job. Do you think the gas flow to the front burners need adjusting for increased flow so the igniter can catch it? I noticed there's a small screw under the control knob, would that be for the gas flow control? Could the issue be with the pressure regulator even though I didn't touch it? Thank you for your input on this!  Reply Forward

    Yes, the gas flow control screw should be behind the control knob used for setting the flame. I would try adjusting this like shown in the video. If there is only one regulator for all 4 burners I wouldn't adjust it.

    Hi Clyde, any idea where the flame adjustment screw for the center burner of the oblong burner on a GE Profile p2s930selss? The oblong burner screw is behind the control knob, but the center one is no where to be found. It also does not appear to be in the stem of the control knob.

    I have the same problem, on a GE Profile PGS930. No screw in the knob shaft. And no help from GE on how to adjust it. Personally, I wish I'd bought a different product.

    @@jp410 and Clyde. It was in fact in the center shaft. The problem was that I was using a small screwdriver whose blade was just wide enough to not enter a smaller internal shaft within the main one. Once I used the proper driver, BINGO! Good luck JP!

    What is the most efficient setting for the flame? High? Low? Tip of flame just touching pot? Thanks

  • @basicworks1

    @basicworks1

    3 жыл бұрын

    Efficient depends on what u are cooking..to boil water keep the flame 3/4 way out on bottom of the pot...but for a low setting like in the video..to not burn food, I like the flame just over the top of the burner. Good Question, I like it!

    i'm struggling to find a flathead screw driver with a skinny enough shank to get into the shaft of the burner knob. i tried an 1/8th of an inch shank... the ACE hardware didn't have anything smaller. also tried a little eyeglass screwdriver but the head was too small to get any purchase on the screw inside. any advice?

    I see two main pieces that I would suspect. The nozzle at the top of stove could be blocked, or the control valve that you turn the gas on with could be shot. I would clean the nozzle with a small wire first. After that the control valve may need replaced. You may want a repair man at that point. Follow all safety precautions.

    So what happens if you move the outer shaft or don’t hold it with pliers? Asking for myself.

  • @basicworks1

    @basicworks1

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you move the outer shaft it is the same as with the knob on it. It will adjust the flame up or down. You have to hold the shaft as a constant so when you turn the inside screw it adjusts the flame without turning the knob. Then when you turn the knob the flame adjustment is built in and will raise or lower what flame the knob provides.

    Hi Joseph, This is the adjustment for the low flame (low flame should be @ 1/4 " above burner plate). Should not effect the high flame. The high flame should be correct with this adjustment set right.

    Hi Addison, Funny you should ask, with the flame as high as it was before I turned it down, I could not get it low enough to make a good omelet. It was so high that the outside would be burning and inside still raw.

    During your intro I noticed that there is an over-the-range microwave/vent. It is installed so low that I don't think you could place a standard 10-12 qt. stock pot under it. Bad installation IMHO.
