Yes but he was alone with 3 youngster not even vice admiral level against a whole Yonko team with a crazy strong commander that Zoro will deal about later in a similar path as Raileygh/Mihawk/BenBeckmann far superior to a basic n1 as King/Katakuri/Marco. Shiliew of the rain, with a cheated invisibility fruit, Garp is a master of armement but not conqueror and clearly lacked observation. Mihawk is the paroxysm of observation and Beckmann as garp is a master of armement knowing how to envelop his own bullets and others munitions, but mihawk has no conqueror. Each one value more or less the other because each one lack of one type of Haki that the other don’t. Zoro unlocked the using of conqueror offensive and know must overcome the observation of Mihawk to surpass him and surpass the invisibility of Shiliew. When Luffy will learn about that, he we’ll going crazy again, plus the fact that Kuzan participated at the murder of Garp, Luffy will definitively loose his mind, didn’t expecting that at all, he will blows them all up 😂 ! Fu ck ! Where are Akainu, Kizaru, Ryokugyu and Fujitora, instead of trying dirty tricks against Luffy and Yonkos with the CP !!!! where is his mate Sengoku, Tzurus and their best vice admirals ancients divisions ? Why does this feel like it could be the actual speed of the fight? So hectic and fast paced. Full of strength and movement. Trying to capture each section of this battle in "one episode" almost feels so crazy because realistically, all of this would be happening at the same time. SOOO good!

Realistically things happen but anime gives us stylish fights. Check out the Raid on the king in HxH if it was real time. And everything would be done in an instant. Or Goku vs Freeza

This dude makes better storyboards than actual Toei fight scenes. His understanding of angles and interpretation of manga panels is just insane. Toei should hire this guy as an storyboarder for sure

He did animate like 3 chapters in 2 minutes and toei cannot go this fast with the pacing. Sure are the voice lines and it can get to 5 minutes but that's a quarter episode

Since Blackbeard wanted Koby alive for his plan on making Hachinosou a world gov. afilliated state, I think that they let Garp alive for this reason (since koby is gone now), that's why the narrator said that Garp was just missing and not Dead

Exactly. Garp is not only NOT a member of Sword (unlike Koby) but he's known as the Hero of the Marines. He's worth more to the Blackbeard pirates alive than dead, even ignoring the big hints that Kuzan has something going on aside from just being a Blackbeard lackey.

Garp’s my favorite character in the whole series, this whole fight is just incredible. He was equals with Roger for a reason; very very few people can stand against four officers of an emperor crew, including a logia user that’s capable of being fleet admiral, and a horde of New World pirates, like Garp did

I think Kuzan is suffering from the same character issue as young Kaido and Crocodile: he used to be idealistic but then loses hope in the future (after a setback) and turns rogue. Because instead of retiring peacefully like Sengoku, he joins the Blackbeard pirates. Which is a wrong thing to do as a marine… Aokiji seems to mistake freedom for something else when he said that “I have decided to live life on my own terms”. Doflamingo pointed this out when he asked Aokiji who he was right now, during the confrontation at Punk Hazard. Garp even told him in this chapter that “I have taught you to live in the ‘now’. Only weaklings lose their way.”
