We have one player locally who wanted female space marines, she just built female space marines on her own, blamed Cawl, and called it a day.

As a canadian, it baffles me that warhammer / GW stores do so horribly. Where i live, there isn't a gw store for miles. And all the hobby stores nearby are rock solid and are always running tight ships with great employees and customers.

Problem is, wearing an Arch T-shirt would be seen as a political statement within some circles of the WH40K community. Also, I find it hilarious a person like the one described has an Ad-mech army, considering how expensive they are; Either the guy is a hypocrite, or he is a tax leech, one or the other.

Even in Games Workshop HQ 's Warhammer World they put a "reserved" sign next to every single gaming table in the main hall at all times. They want you to book ahead even for that. They got rid of the paint tables in the main hall too. Its comes across as very unfriendly to gamers and hobbyists to say the least.

They need to remember why they have customers. It's easy to become disillusioned. I love the books but I have found free ways to listen to the audiobooks instead of paying £15 on audiobooks. Sort it out GW or you will lose the goodwill you still have. I just got my new credit for the month. Will I spend it on another disappointing book like Genefather? Edited* Genefather cost me £20+ Dan Abnett is the reason you make profit in my opinion. Dan, you deserve the residuals but I presume you just get paid for the performance. GW Stop the scalping you are not Pokemon or Magic the gathering Card sellers. There are other places to buy models and it's becoming easier to print them. Its not illegal to stream a book someone else uploads to the internet. It's illegal to share it. I'm tired and might regret all this tomorrow but it's best to live telling my truth than lie to make others pretend things are amazing. Love to all 💯❤️😈🤖🫡

When you book a table at WHW it is made available to you for the whole day. It wouldn’t be very good if you turned up to your reservation half way through someones 3-4 hour game and expected them to move, or they expected you to just wait or leave.

That response was almost verbatim......Arch's response to the templin institute vid that is. Press X to doubt that was the said response but sure there was a similar response and good on him for standing his corner 👍

The "conveyor belt" of customers - almost exactly as you describe it - (academies/beginner campaigns/veteran's only nights etc), was something we were doing at my store and others in the region some 25 years ago, before I moved to the US. I'm frankly shocked to hear that it apparently wasn't continued after I left, and that it's seen as an exceptional thing, now. It was incredibly popular with established gamers, kids, and their parents, and hugely successful.

Bob in the first story is the kind of person that should be gatekept out, we dont want people like him coming in wanting to change what makes 40k 40k.

For true equality, if GW ever makes female space marines, they better simultaneously release misters of battle.

The Frateris Militia already exists in lore, a female space marine chapter doesn't. And further, a female space marine chapter is actually marketable. I doubt that you're suggesting making Frateris Militia a faction because you're actually interested in playing them; you're probably just suggesting it to "own the libs", and if that's the case, you're the one bringing politics into the hobby, not them.

I'm starting to doubt some of these I'm afraid. We had a literal "and everyone clapped" the other day, and that first one today seems like it has been tailor made for this channel rather than being an actual account of something that occured in reality. I think people are trying to give you the most "Hobby Nightmare relevant" content they can through your mailbox based on the topics and talking points you've engaged in in your previous content rather than giving accurate accounts of things that have actually happened to them... Someone's going to write in to you saying they said "get in the sea" to a Baldur's Gate 3 bear sex loving neckbeard at this rate. Sorry to be negative and I don't think it's your fault, I think it's people trying to woo you through the mailbag. But between this, the everybody clapped, and the pizza shop story that was full of flowery description and purple prose I'm starting to find it hard to swallow some of what you're being sent the last month or so.

@@howardtreesong9165 Yes it's a shame because I really like this channel and content but it just feels a little like people are starting to use North's mailbag to make up a tall tale and get thousands of viewers and ears to listen to it, after all they'll get more of an audience through North than typing it out on reddit. I hate to be cynical but it's the vibe I've got from a several of the recent ones.

So thankful that my local warhammer store is run by an absolute lad, yes he's a salesman but he loves the hobby so fucking much as well. Strong community, very welcoming even went to the dudes wedding and stag. If someone hasa bad word to say about him then it's because they were a knob in the store and no one liked them.

Sisters Of Battle, Sisters Of Silence, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tau and Tyranids all have strong female tabletop representation. You could argue for Imperial Knights too. As for lore, the Heresy in particular has a ton of important and well written female characters. These gonns just want to ruin everything, not just 40k.

The commodisation of everything is making us all sad and lonely l, people crave connections. What better way to make money than bringing people together around a game? But nope, we are commoditizing fun too.

I've gone past, but never into the local GW stores near me. Every one is just like you described, sterile and empty. I've just started getting into wargaming and mini painting, and have visited a couple local independent stores. Now most of them are Magic or other card game stores, but I've found one that is very welcoming and friendly and let's me browse until I figure out exactly what I want to buy. And I have not left without spending at least $20 in supplies.

Based on the stories I've heard on the channel. My theory is that GW is trying to kill off their retail stores and with the managers that they are putting it will give them a reason to do so with the sales at those stores tanking. Then GW can just come out and use the failing sales a reason to start closing retail stores to the point that the only stores that are left are the big ones that still manage to bring in a profit in spite of it all.

You do know that any company, including GW, can close any/all of their stores for any reason if they so choose. They don't "need a reason"

I never understand why if you want something in a hobbying heavy game and it doesn't exist why you don't just make it yourself. Either 3d print it, sculpt it, kitbash it. You have so many resources to literally make anything.

These stores that dont care about the community is wild. I have 2 stores i go to. 1 is 10 minutes away and the other is 45 minutes away. I go to the further one away every week because they care about my friend group who started the dragon ball card game comunity there over 3 years ago. And thats why we keep going back

I have always said that the way power armour works and what turning into a marine does to your body, that you would find it extremely difficult to tell the gender of a space marine anyway. So you can literally just say your marines are female or mixed if you want.

17:34 I completely agree. I use to be a big Magic: the gathering fan and really enjoyed the deep lore of their "planes". I've lost all enjoyment from that aspect of the game as both the lore and card art feel like the same setting with a different theme.

I liked the game when you were two Wizards having a scrap, like Sauron and Gandalf. When you start summoning ultra-powerful Planeswalkers it didn't feel like MTG to me. TBH the entire power-creep got to me too.

Furthermore, on the female marines topic. It’s just the setting. It all makes sense, all the reasons and lore are laid out for everything. Meanwhile in Halo, there are female Spartans. Doesn’t bother me at all, in fact my favourite Spartan from Halo 5 was one of the women. These thoughts never crossed my mind because that’s just the setting. If Halo suddenly decided no female Spartans, I’d be like “wtf that makes no sense?” In the same way as 40K having female Astartes makes no sense.

I always explained to newbies regarding the no female space marine issue goes like this : If a female has proven herself in trials and battle and is put thru the procedure of becoming a Space Marine that the procedure brings out all their masculine features and hormones and pumps them up to the extreme which will either kill them or make them look/sound much like a male, thus being impossible to distinguish between males and females, especially underneath all the armor. Disclaimer, I don't state the above to newbies as fact, just as a conversation starter if it ever gets brought up. We have modern day women that undergo procedures that if they were to be modeled at 28mm you couldn't tell the difference.

Hate to pee on two bonfires at once but female space marines is impossible but they are not exactly viable males either as they had the none essential organs removed, Although imagining the doctor who tests the male ultra marine prostates is hilarious to me. Deep breath brother uWu.

So female space marines are like when she says she doesn't want her own chips but instead wants some of yours....works for me.

I'm curious as to why GW decided to get rid of gaming in stores? I would had though that having a couple of gaming days in store would have maybe have couple of new people come in due to the store being busy just to see what is happening, when I used to play I know I'd play a couple of games, hope to get to know others with a similar interest and buy a few things for the army that I had or looking to start. Doing the whole copy n paste job in what the likes of apple does may well suit apple stores but for me at least GW was more of a social thing rather that whatever GW's current plant of small store get people in & out again isn't something that I would think would work.

One of the most cringe and interesting ones for me overall was the Catan one, called the Nightmare of Nick. A neckbeard screams in trendy students faces accusing them of ganging up on him in a board game because they're sleeping with each other and then sends her an email outlining what he can offer her in bed instead. It's quite something and I've watched it more than once because its both so relatable and well paced as a video and story. For horror there are ones about people's stores being burned down and there's one where a guy creeps on an underage girl playing yugioh, that one made my skin crawl.

adeptas ridiculous has been a staple of mine for a little over a year, some of them are bloody hilarious.

I don't play 40K so I don't have a horse in this race but is this a real issue? If you want female space marines can you not just put a female head on it? Metal sculpted armored tits makes no sense they would just be regular suits.

This game is a blast. Are you seriously advocating for a massive amount of microtransactions !? 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ The cash shop in this game is crazy cheap and nonconsequencial to the game. Also you can easily aquire anything in the cash shop through simply exploring the map. I play solo and with friends and both are extremely fun to me and I don't even play shooters that much. Your critique of this game is so off base and it's crazy that you would tell anyone not to buy this game. We need to be supporting these devs for what they created not delusionally nit-picking.

Honestly, first story sounds like "and then everyone clapped". I personally don't care about FSM as a woman playing 40K (daemons are cooler) but all it would need is an upgrade sprue with female heads that are Primaris size. No new sculpts needed. That said, minimum, don't be an ass about it because it doesn't matter, just kitbash and be respectful. Also Sisters are not the same thing, this is a stupid point. It's like saying all Space Marines are the same and that chapters and legions are just color swaps. Space Marines are not just "men in power armor".

When the hobby first began, every space marine was the same and the different chapters and legions were just colour swaps They may have had some little bit of lore to give them some depth but, ruleswise, they were all functionally the same

Sisters of Battle at an equal level of in game power to The Space Marines is the ideal. So you dont feel like youre downgrading by picking the women in power armour. Also good would be the ability to ally the two in the same army. That would make them feel more like Female space Marines. But you could just proxy them. 5 SoB represent 5 Intercessors. Celestine and Geminae Superia represents Marneus Calgar and his two Victrix Guard.

In all admittance, Sisters are a minor faction and get their love as such. I don't think it's the norm for players to be seeking a faction just because it is all female. I collect them yes, but I don't collect them because they are females. I collect them because I love the cathlo - roman - renaissance theme and the extreme anti heretic vibes. Maybe I stand alone in this.
