Games O' Canada - Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

Believe it or not, it's not just Wayne Brady or Greg Proops that are Whose Line alums that have hosted game shows. Colin Mochrie has too. What did he do? A Canadian version of Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader. How did it fare up north compared to the Jeff Foxworthy versions? Tune in and find out!

I think the longest running version of AYSTA5G (without breaks) would be the UK’s version, called “Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old?” due to Britain using a different grade system to the US (Preschool is Nursery, 2nd Grade is Year 1, 3rd Grade is Year 2, and so on), which has a £250,000 jackpot in the primetime episodes (£50,000 for daytime episodes, but £500,000 in the last primetime series)

I absolutely LOVE "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?". It's one of my favorite game shows of all time. The Canadian version was actually pretty good, should've lasted more than 5 episodes. I agree about the Canadian set, while the US version's set forever remains great, the Canadian version really went all out. So, overall, "Are You Smarter than a Canadian 5th Grader?" was a good adaptation of 5th Grader.

I like both versions because in the U.S one Foxworthy actually looks like an a teacher you'd see at your local middle school and Mocherie looks like a high school principal more so than a 5th Grade teacher but still works just as awesome!

So we've had Drew host Price is Right, Wayne host Let's Make a Deal and Colin host 5th Grader. What would Ryan host, Hollywood Squares?

I want to do a full video on Whose Line alums that hosted Game Shows. On the US side you had Drew, Colin, Wayne, Greg, Brad and Keegan Michael Key. On the UK, you had Clive, Tony Slattery, Paul Merton among others.

@AdamStabelli I guess that means that Ryan will probably reject my offer of being announcer for a Canadian version of Let’s Make A Deal, then. So, if I had Colin host, but Ryan wouldn’t announce, then who should be the announcer?

Just curious Marc, have you ever seen Noel Edmonds' U.K. version "Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old?" I'm surprised Colin Mochrie was a poor choice for a host. This would have been more up Gerry Dee's alley.

I've seen bits and pieces, but not a full episode, maybe it's just not a good vehicle for Colin, I mean Colin is a little more dry and sarcastic so maybe a really light hearted comedy game show he'd be fine.

He did btw, host the 1st season of a parody game show on the comedy network called "Supertown challenge", would love to review it if I could only find some footage.

@@marcpower4167Since Wayne hosts Let’s Make A Deal here in the States, I thought Colin could try his hand at a Canadian version, with Ryan as his sidekick/announcer.

@GameShowGumbo Block @imal25. They're a spammer. But, this show was pretty good, IMO. And only TWO people in the history of the US version of the show (original primetime run on FOX and the 2015 revival), won the million.
