Well the hardwork which you put in your videos is commendable !! Well done ! Awesome video.

Ghostek & Temdan have made waterproof cases for the Note8 so it will not only last longer underwater but it also adds better drop protection and the speakers will work underwater since it is inside a watertight case.

The reason the s pen works even when under the water is because of the digitizer layer under the screen. It works separately from the standard touch screen our fingers will be using 😊 I imaging the software prioritises input from the pen over the touchscreen as well.

When I went to DR, I used my note fearlessly around and underwater, it was a lil complicated underwater, it zoomed in an out when I tried to take some pics but I didn't know about the pen as I was uncomfortable taking it out under water. Nowwe I know u should have to avoid the zoming issue, excellent phone

IP68 - No ingress of dust; complete protection against contact; The equipment is suitable for *continuous immersion* in water under conditions which shall be specified by the manufacturer. The only rating higher would be IP69k which says it can be steam cleaned. And samsung has specified that to be 1.5m for 30 minutes. Let me clarify that for you, SAMSUNG has said you can submerge your phone in water up to 1.5m (~5 feet) for half of an hour (30 minutes) without having to worry about any ingress of water. And this is the bare minimum for them to receive the IP68 rating. *There is no warranty against water damage* TLDR; the Note8 has the same IP rating as the GoPro camera. While the GoPro can do it longer and deeper, they meet the same level of waterproofing. Finally, this is a youtube video that seems to review phones, as this MAY (and should) be his daily driver, it could also just be just a phone he has purchased for testing.

If I remember right 1.5m and 30 minutes is for IPX7. IPX8 is more than IPX7 (no detailed description).

A possibly viable workaround for the USB Type-C issue is to simply buy a cover for it. Though I'm not sure how well a silicone cover would work underwater, it would be more than sufficient for shower usage.

Literaly just bought one :-) can't wait to be able to use it under the rain !

Thanks to your tip about the pen overriding the water on the screen, I actively use my Note 8 in the tub and shower on a regular basis. If I've used my S-Pen I make sure to leave it out till the storage slot dries. And don't charge it with a cable while the screen is displaying a moisture warning. I use wireless charging most of the time, so that isn't a problem. With summer coming, I'm going to invest a whopping dollar in a silicone cap for the USB port to get around this and avoid anything building up on the connection surfaces. EDIT: Recently my phone has begun to display the wet charging port warning randomly. Although I still feel confident that the phone is otherwise waterproof, I highly recommend covering the ports when using it near water. Samsung will not honor the warranty if they detect that the infernal circuits have gotten wet. There is a lot of disappointment with this policy. Luckily, a third party policy for drops and spills covers water damage.
