No we didn’t. This is an edited clip. Go watch it in its entirety. But even then Jack’s last wave was the largest wave of the heat. It’s cut off and played after, as it happened when Medina was riding his last wave.

@@GlennLagunathe largest wave shouldn't never enure the largest score. One good turn only. Last turn was a joke. Medina went off limit in his turns, and what about his variation and flow? WSL is 💩 over its own criteria.

WSL judges seem just bored with brazilians champions and are manufacturing something different so far!!!!

Nothing against Jack, I think he is a great surfer... But I dont see how he won that heat. His 6.07 was ridiculous

@@andrewb5412 was an amazing the turn but he got stuck.and all the rest of the wave was weak. "7.83". If you watch medinas 8.77 against Jadson and compare with jacks wave, you see how crazy this judging is. Less than a point betweem those two waves and medinas was one million times better. But the real problem for me in that heat was jacks 6.07 compared to medinas 6.33

Os Juízes tinham que julgar cada onda sem saber do somatório e quanto o cara precisa pra virar a bateria,ia evitar muita garfada tá muito esquisito esses julgamentos.

O ideal era os juizes darem as notas para a onda do atleta sem ter acesso as notas e médias, dai eles não teriam como saber o quanto cada atleta tem no somatório!

So I guess Jack is the new golden boy for the WSL.... both surfed great but Gabby did more and was underscored on his barrel ride wave. You hear it from the competitors on tour wondering what the judges want and I totally agree. Judges need to stick to their criteria that they lay out before contest....

They did stick to it ! It doesn't matter if you get 500 waves just compare there best two waves forget the rest and jacks turns were in the critical part of the wave it is part of the judging criteria if you are doing turns right in the breaking lip the steep part and u look like you won't make it but recover they allways score it higher ! There actually quite technical about the scoring if you look at it

Judges reward critical manoeuvres, there was nothing critical on medinas rides no risk in any manoeuvre, Jack is honed in to this criteria and pushes every turn and every move hence the reward

I know what you're saying but Jacks last wave looked like he surfed harder between transitions (he committed to each turn) because each turn he made you didnt think he'd make it around to the next section. Whereas Medina looked like he was infront pocket.

Jacks last wave was nice. Maybe the best wave of the heat. But all his others were crap in comparison to what medina displayed. Waaaay more volume to medinas game here 2. He outripped jack by a landslide. Conpared to the scoring towards the end, both medinas early waves should have been 7s. And whats up with jacks 6? That wasent nearly a 5 let alone a 6

You know if you really go over each wave it is closer than you think, Gabe had that one good wave but the rest were not that great, lots of speed, lip floats and cut/lay backs but not as vertical as Robo. Kind of came down to the top two waves and I think Robo got it with that closing one, he knew it too and claimed it 😄

Medina was on fire. If only he had completed those waves. Jack is on fire also and the hoping for a bomb didn’t look good when Medina was getting all those waves he fell at the end on. But Jacks final wave was the largest best wave of the heat, and judges always factor that in.

@@am36578 I disagree. Jack's was bigger and needed projection down the line immediately. Then to compare tubes... Medina's was not as big and powerful, he was able to stall at the beginning and squeak into a little tube, whereas Jack's tube required projection and timing after a good lip smack. Jacks best wave was better.

Compare Medina's 6.33 and Robinson's 6.07. The difference should be 1 - 1.5 for Medina at least. As said in other video (Andino, Florence, Dora) WSL is looking for a non Brazilian champion.

Both Medina and Jack did their thing, but will have to say that Medina overall should had taken the win. Two of Medina’s waves were at least 6.5-6.8 range and they underscored it. Regardless it was a good heat🤙

Na moral essa onda do tubo de Medina foi imoral a nota, Medina deu 3 sapatadas e uma rasgada no critico, era no mínimo um 7 baixo! ROUBADASSO!

Again! Gabriel was the best surfer in this contest and had his way to victory taken by the judges. Again!!

Sou um maroleiro na Paraíba vi as duas baterias de medina e Toledo na do medina fica claro se comparar a primeira onda de medina que teve um tubo pequeno mais muita manobra e na última vemos claramente que foi superior vejo o Jack com essa estratégia de pega a onda 🌊 no término da bateria como um piloto kamikaze e confundi os juízes ele vibra pra colocar pressão nos juízes sim foi uma onda boa mais entrou no creterio excelente as de medina de 6.33 e foda agente que assistir fica decepcionado imagina o cara lá na hora como Filipi deu uma entrevista revoltado.

WSL , tem que ser referência, Não mostra a injustiça

Na minha opinião os juízes está certo deu Jack Robinson, de back o grau de dificuldade é muito maior ,tem q ser levado em consideração, parece q o pé dele tá grudado na prancha ,impressionante, tá voando ganhou um goofe numa esquerda q já foi 3 campeão mundial, há para ainda acha q foi garfado, reconhece q fica mas bonito, não tinha como esse resultado ser diferente 👍

O jack "enganchou em 2 das 3 manobras que fez na onda. Resumindo, de manobra limpa só o tubo. Comparando essa onda com o 6.33 de medina que também foi a onda do tubo + duas manobras e uma finalização fica rídiculo. Medina destruiu a onda em que pegou o tubo com duas manobras GIGANTES e recebeu o score de 6.33. O jack enganchou na primeira e na ultima manobra e tirou 7.83. Detalhe, eu comparei com o 6.33 do menina, nem foi com a onda final de medina onde ele triturou a onda (sendo CLARAMENTE a melhor onda da bateria) e ficou apenas com 7.0. perdendo a bateria por 0.53 décimos. Se não fosse essa Valoração excessiva nas ondas do Jack e minoração nas ondas DOS BRASILEIROS, digo no plural pois nao foi só com o medina, vale a ressalva de que o Jack PERDEU claramente pro Miguel, só pra início de conversa. Fica difícil assim. E não é de hoje que a WSL vem segurando nota de BR e soltando nota pra gringo, vale lembrar que o Chumbinho caiu pro QS sendo garfado duas vezes contra o John John. Querem tirar a hegemonia BR e estão fazendo isso da forma errada, fora d'água, na hora de soltar as notas. Se for pra hegemonia acabar tem que ser da forma correta, com gringo botando pra baixo e tendo vitoria incontroversa

Slowly losing hope in WSL this heat was Medinas no question.. WSL cradling young Robinson’s through this whole season it’s disappointing. Brazilians are the best rn and underscoring them instead of DOING BETTER is bullshit.

Jack pegou a melhor onda mas, a segunda manobra foi boa no critico porem voltou embolado na espuma, isso nao é tao valorizado, o criterio é manobra limpa no critico, o tubinho final dele foi inferior a aquele do Medina, O 7 do Medina foi baixo , eu daria 7.5, e o 7.83 do jack valeria 7.5.

Tá virando rotina isso de achatar as notas de uns, e favorecer outros, tô enjoando de assistir isso ( parei de julgar nos anos 90 por causa dessas políticas que ainda vejo presentes ), e se eu tivessee me dado ao trabalho de ter ficado acordado pra assistir as finais, com certeza ficaria muito de cara. jack pegou a maior onda ok, so deu uma boa no critico porem voltou embolado na parte branca do lip, de resto foi similar ao Medina, não justificava 7,83. justo era 7.5. Medina fez um surf limpo e radical e forte repertorio em ondas menores, de qualidade tambem. Achei q Medina levava por pouca diferença, mas levava vitoria.

Man they can turn scores just as they want and even not ashamed of publishing it.. If you think this is bad judging, try watch a live QS.. WSL is a joke, a soap drama show they controle.. ditch it..

Impossível Jack Robson ter ganhado essa bateria, umas ondas bem inferiores as ondas de Medina, sem dúvidas as ondas de Jack Robson foram super valorizadas! Literalmente eles não querem mais de um brazuca nos cinco finalistas do mundial, sabe que o Brasil vai levar, se puderem vão tirar todos!

Eu noto cada vez mais que atleta e a audiencia da velha guarda entendem muito mais de nota q esses juizes da wsl

Both are very talented surfers . Gab got around 9 waves 5 of the waves he did around 3 to 5 or more maneuvers . That are solid . Gab did lot power move , that more the half. Jack get around 5 waves and 3 of the waves he does 2 to 4 maneuvers. 1 of waves he does around 5 to 6 maneuvers. Some was solid and match some of Gabs . But did not do as many. How did he end up with more points ? There is something wrong with some of judges ! Re watch the video. To make sure this understood, I’m not favoring either of the talented surfers. Some these judges, why are they judges for ? !!!

WSL dando um fora atrás do outro além do julgamento: fazendo corte de atletas, reduzindo dias em picos q precisam de swell, reduzindo custos da etapa...Fica a pergunta: Isso tudo é pra bancar o novo seriado "boilola" na Apple TV?

I've said this for years, but Medina uses high volume boards. If you watch, that means he goes fast, and with that volume comes the ability to push through sections and pop airs and such. However, with that volume it means hus turns are more flat and mostly slides to finish. Watch his rail, he never really buries it; no matter what pandering you hear from Strider or Turpel. He always finishes his turns with a snap and cannot hold the rail through an arc like JJF, Robinson, or Ewing. In this heat, that became really apparent. Medina spent lots of time in the open, less critical part of the wave on mostly inside waves. Jack's last wave was the best surfed, most critical turn filled wave of this heat, easily and deserved the highest score of the heat. The backups were really close though. This was a toss up heat, in the end, and not a run away win for either surfer.

But the lowest scored waves have defined who won this heat. Medina's 6.33 should be scored 1 to 1.5 over Robinson's 6.07

Both guys were amazing, the spectators are the winner!!

I didn't watch the comp but when I saw the results of the semifinal and final being so close I correctly predicted the onslaught of butthurt Brazilian comments to my wife and friends sitting next to me. Still haven't watched it. You may be right, but it's always the same regardless if the outage is deserved or not. Y'all didn't disappoint, thank you 😂

I'm a Hawaii boy not a Brazilian but there was nothing close about that heat, the judging was rancid. Maybe you should watch before jawing.

Mais uma vez Medina roubado de forma vergonhosa, duas ondas que deviam pontuar na casa dos 7 a 8 levaram 5 e 6 … pra que isso?

Seemed to me Robinson got really lucky to have that little barrel section come out of nowhere, was the difference, Medina surfed better, but no barrels no airs nothing great except a big hack. Glad robinson won.
