❤ wow, rad. what a perfect camera angle, especially for getting a real sense of scale, how the wave breaks and feels, and to display each surfers approach to riding each wave, which were all excellent and ripping, and a general sense of the entire break. this is one of my favorite videos on this channel. perfect soundtrack as well for the edit, helping to make it so relaxing, hypnotic, and inspiring. very well done tom :) and great surfing lakey, those backside turns were fierce, and that cutback into the lip and foam section of that pitching wave was epic and aggro :) deepest cutback ive seen in a while, and certainly the deepest of that series / session of waves / surfers :)

Really good drone footage! Some of the best surfers in the world on almost perfect lefts! Jack Robinson, JJF, Carissa, Lacey and all of them scoring and killing it! : )

Hope it stays that way. Bloody developers want the rest of the coast! Then again, hope the rich wankers that end up staying in so called luxury resorts get cut to shreds on the reef, if they can even get out that is!

Drones make the waves look smaller than they are. Isn't there a auto height feature, or a sensor that can sense how close to the water it is? All this drone footage looks to be 50ft in the air. Good but too high for a good sense of wave size.

This drone altitude allows you to see the spray from the top turns hanging in the air after the wave has gone by. Considering that to keep the surfer in frame you have to fly backwards and sideways, these are incredible shots.

No it's the operator being too high up. They need to come down super low but most aren't confident enough to fly low. They are too scared they will drop in the ocean.

I like the wider footage like this one, to feel the atsmosphere, see the crowd and the wave behind is amazing and honestly its nice so see what the wave ill do upfront. This is much better than those zoomed in videos where the surfer starts to pump and u cant see what the wave is doing.

@@0warami_7oo Overcrowding, LOL. The first time I went there was in 1987 and they already had a second camp, Joyos (edit correction Bam Bams), beside Radiasa's camp. I only went to GLand that one time during 5 season and just over 12 months in Indo, but even then both camps together might have had 100 guys between the two it seemed during the June and July. I only spent a those 4 weeks at G-Land over the years I went and it seemed pretty packed compared to other spots in Indo that I found to on other islands. I first went to Hu’u in 87 also and it was very uncrowded. The last time I went to Hu’u in 91, I thought 15 out at Lakey Peak was packed. I bet these day 5 times that or more.

@@GlennLaguna after the quiksilver pro contest the crowds increased for a few years. .that was pre social media . now we will see it blown out for the new world different than the 80s & 90s.. In 1987 joyos camp did not exist back then either.

Ever see John John or Italo free surf... doesn't matter where, they are always the best in the line-up . Best lines, best moves, biggest airs, deepest barrels.... you might have a case for some but the Top 5 just shred every wave... contest or no contest.
