❤ such a rad vlog :) that edit was absurd. absolutely absurd ripping :) and i was feeling good about my lil tiny cutback today until i saw that :) that said, im really happy to see the wipeout section, and those on other videos as well, because i think seeing only impeccable ripping, it's easy to get a false impression that its not difficult to achieve, nor that it does not come with so much effort and practice, and that each and every wave is unique and special and different, so the level of challenge never necessarily decreases, wave and conditions dependent, of course. after seeing the wipeout section, i felt better about going down on my face on a left closeout today, and a tiny bit better about the cutback, again :) still though, absurd ripping by everyone in that edit :) and, your sunglasses (which are such a great shape and perfect for your face) in the end segment look great with that brown and oatmeal stripey flannel, fleece situation, and with your shiny golden hair. such a great color palette motif :)

Best of luck to you Lakey! This should be a great event for you! Man, John and Jordy were tearing those lips out and jamming those tails!

Your surfing looks really sharp in these clips. Best of luck! Just curious, do all the pros make sure everyone gets some rides, or is it everyone for themselves (I live in SoCal so it can be brutal). I imagine it would be tough to get waves if some of the guys get aggressive.

Haha yes, free surfing before events is extremely tough. I would say most of the guys are super respectful and wait their turn but still a tough one

Honestly think the goofies will have the advantage here. Due to the shape of the wave it's hard to get those really dramatic turns on the fronthand

Best of luck Lakey! Listened to a STAB podcast the other day and Jake Patterson was saying that the main thing you need to do at bells is to be on the right equipment and not be nursing turns if Bells is solid. Will you surf a longer board at Bells vs Winki?

Bells Beach definitely one of my least favorite events. Just a little too slopey, not even oomph in the wave. Still gonna enjoy it and good luck

Native, or not...that sea grass was holding those dunes in place... "Native" is a time-dependent concept. What's "Native" today - might not have been there 1000 years ago. It may be that non-Native species, are actually beneficial in the local eco-system. While you're not "Native" to Bells - it seems like that's something of a second home for you... Good luck in your 'invasive' efforts to out-compete all of the other competitors.
