In this video, Patrick Hall breaks down the lighting from the Netflix El Camino movie poster. Using just two Profoto B10 lights, you can easily create a dramatic black and white "hero shot" that looks just like those used on Hollywood movie posters.

For me, the coolest feature has to be the fact that it will adapt to your settings. If you're shooting from groups to individuals and have to adjust your aperture, or just want to adjust to change your background, it's awesome that the trigger will give you the same power of light that you had previously. It's a feature similar to Eye AF where it's one less thing for you think about, so you can concentrate on getting the best possible image out of your subject.

I've only used godox. Will be really confusing to read the different power level being displayed. Maybe a firmware can show the manufacturer power settings - 1 to 10 for profoto and 1/128 to 1/1 for godox.

For years, I've been shooting with Nikon SB910's on Pocketwizard Flex TT5's controlled by a mini TT1 and a Sekonic L-478dr light meter. The results have be good when the temperamental set-up is cooperating. I often find myself having to power all the devices down and restarting them in a very specific order to get the gear to re-synch. It's just been frustrating to have to stop in the middle of a shoot because the TT5's stopped talking to the TT1. Now that I've seen the Raven, I'm hopeful that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I agree with Lee that it would be a better design to have the selector to remain active by default and to have an option to lock the selector to prevent accidental changes. The only other thing I'd wish for is a lower price tag. Spending $900 for a pair (one for a back-up since the batteries can't be changed out) would be costly. I could better stomach one for $300 or $600 a pair.

The price made me choke, I use godox and have no problems, since I can buy 8? of their X-Pro triggers for the price of one of these, I would have to stay away. Not a fan of a built in non replaceable battery either. I shoot multiple days, I bring sets of batteries for the Godox and have no problems. I can see the use if you shoot multiple brands of flashes, I have Neewer strobes from my starting days, then Adorama Strobes which are Godox rebrands, and finally a bunch of Godox speedlights.

@@johnbecker1996 maybe you are, maybe not... Definitely, it is not for anyone with a camera... I will work on checking it this weekend when my unit will come. From what I can see now, the Raven has additional functions. But I might just guess for now. For example all those X-Sync analyses (~8:30), channel (noise level)... What about the PowerTrack feature? And, you are absolutely right, for those who are working with OCF/Speedlights/Strobes for many years, we have equipment from different brands... and now we can use it better way. I like this opportunity. Also, I tried to plan next Monday's creative session on paper... I can use my GODOX X2T-N as a receiver with mounted SB-910, as I would have options to move it from a transmitter role. The price of GODOX V860IIN (closes alternatives to SB-910 but not quite there...) is about 60% of the Raven. P.S. I can say it in theory for now, as I have not a chance to use it in practice...

I enjoyed your video, thank you... You kinda stressed your dislike for the pricing, feeling it was overkill. What did you pay for your Profoto trigger? So for a Profoto person, this should be a no brainer, same price basically but 100X more options you can do with this. I love rechargeable lithiums in my strobes and on camera flashes but I do worry about this not having a replaceable battery. If it gets depleted your kinda screwed on location. And what about the 30 day battery life when turned off and in storage? Not a good plan there. This is something for folks that would shoot with this trigger most days. Not the occasional shooter.

As Mentioned Fusion TLC by Raven is designed to work with Profotto and GODOX flashes. Do I need separate Transreceiver for my GODOX AD600 Pro if I use Fusion TCL? Or Else It directly Trigger GODOX AD 600 Pro without help of receiver. If I use Fusion TCL with Canon R5, will trigger GODOX AD600 Pro directly ? Or it need Transreceiver ?

What are people using as the remote shutter release in combination with the Raven or with the other flash units? I've been using Yongnuo RF 603 triggers, along with Yongnuo flashes and the Godox Xt-16 on top to trigger Godox flashes as well (through the godox peanut receivers). I want to move on from Yongnuo, but I haven't found a solid replacement for the Yongnuo RF 603 triggers that have the same small form factor. Godox makes a couple of versions (ex: FC-16) that are only available on ebay and via chinese resellers.

Pocket Wizard (and Raven) are the industry standard. Most guys shooting for Sports Illustrated or any "real" remote camera work are still using Pocket Wizards. That being said, I have always thought companies like Nikon, Canon, Profoto and Godox and basically anyone making strobes or cameras should have a dedicated wireless system. Pocket Wizards are pretty old tech by today's standards and it's wild we can't have an all in one solution for firing strobes and cameras . -P

The way it shows the power output is just dumb. Just match what the flash is showing. After all you chose which light manufacturer you want, it should just automatically show the same power conversion. Talk about confusing. I'm guessing its because the display on it can't physically do it, especially for the Godox system.
