In that first movie Aughra was beyond badass in this scene but you feel like the Skeksis might kill her or do her harm. Then the show comes along and shows you that Aughra IS Thra. Aughra IS the Crystal. Aughra is pretty much indestructible. LOL That makes this scene even more badass. Aughra does whatever the F she wants! =D

I agree! I was worried that the Skeksis would kill her or something way back in the original movie. But now since we know she is technically invincible, it's hilarious! She's like, "You stupid idiots! And your stupid crab-brained soldiers! Why not ask me? No! You're too stooopid! You Skeksis!" HAHAHA!!!!

I mean, she is not really invincible... they did get her in the show, she just outmanoeuvred them with the help of Ur Va, but the thing is... They don't know that. To them, they killed her and she ripped her way out of their strongest warrior. The Skeksis literally have 0 clue what exactly she is capable of and she is fully playing into that, all the time, because like hell are they going to mess with her again. Last time, she killed one of them and there is no telling what crazy thing Augrah will come up with next...

Love the "effort" she does when she sits down! One of my fav scenes, that & Fizzgig throwing a fit when the female (can't remember her name) tells him to STAY!

I remember my great-aunt watching this with me when I was 7 I'd already seen it at least three times before and then when aughra come onto the scene and popped her eyeball out the first time it grossed my aunt out and she didn't really want to see the rest of the movie but when we got to this scene and the old goat snapped at the skeksis she loved it and aughra became her favorite

The Skeksis

The older movie does not link Aughra to the Skeksis other than Jen's master tells him to seek her for the crystal shard. He did not prepare him for his journey or the history of Skeksis, Aughra or the crystal. Being that his master is linked with Skeksis, it is difficult to know if he intentionally left out the information knowing the prophecy. It is inferred that Aughra is no threat to the Skeksis and they leave her alone until they detect Jen after his master's death and follow him to Aughra''s abode, then decide to destroy everything to get to Jen. Instead they capture Aughra, it is then that the Skeksis find her a threat for reasons unknown.

Yoda's wisdom + Madea's sass, short temper and sarcasm = Mother Auhgra.

I love this! Mother Aughra is so honorable.

I think there is a deeper layer here, but maybe I'm just overthinking it. It's funny that the skeksis, a race which sees nothing wrong with corrupting the heart and soul of a planet, draining a race of beings to near extinction, zombifying another race all in the pursuit of eternal life, take offence at a bit of fairly tame swearing, but here's the thing: what she says is "moldy mildew, mother of mouthmuck, dangle and strangle and DEATH!“ Death. The skeksis are so afraid of death that, at this point, the mere word is considered a horrible swear that no one would utter in polite company. And probably Aughra damn well knows it.

Read the Seskes to filth, mopped up some of their silver, and had herself a seat in the middle of their dining room floor. Go Mama Aughra!

Well, I don't think things were quite as planned as they are now. That being said, the series does make this scene rather tragic. The Skeksis and even Auhgra are so far gone from who they used to be that they're barely functional husks of their former shells. She literally means nothing to them now except as an annoying distraction.

I was so afraid of the Skeksis when I was little that I couldn't bring myself to watch the movie Finally, I did. When the Skeksis first appeared on screen, I was quiet...for about a minute before I said, "Oh! The birdies think they're people! Look at their cute little outfits!

I love the way she yells "Of COURSE" and Jennifer Connelly yells it the same way in another Jim Henson movie, Labyrinth.
