Aughra is like Yoda's cranky grandmother.

Originally, Frank Oz (Yoda's voice) also did Augra's voice (he was her puppeteer) he did sound a LOT like Miss Piggy and Yoda! lol

When the doors open, that music conveys the sense of wonder I try to hold onto every day. Too many people lose their sense of wonder. I never will.
Way ahead of its time. Has never been topped.

Except by its own prequel.
A masterpiece .... every inch of the set is a masterpiece
This particular part of the overture (the main movie's theme) has always been my favorite. When the doors open, it starts

Me too. It's so powerful and beautiful.
I get goosebumps and chills every time the second course place from The Dark Crystal theme song and just looking at the observatory in tearing the sound it's making now that's the original feeling of the Dark Crystal

@buntcubbles Hahah! I love that word! And hey, to each his own. So far, everyone I've spoken to you LOVES it. I still haven't seen it, yet. It's on my to-do list.
I love when she says "Bushay.... bushay bushay bushay bushay" lol
Billie's and Donna's voices of Aughra sound quite similar
The cool thing about the orrery is that, like most things back then, there was no CGI involved--the entire thing is practical effects. I understand it was a nightmare for the film crew to build, though.

It's quite hard for me to explain. I've never really felt movies to be "Wonderful" to me. They are indeed wonderful, I've just never felt one wonderful to me. And to me, this movie is wonderful and creative in so many ways to me.

Whenever I think of this film, I think of this scene and watching it for the first time as a 7 year old in the cinema - good times

I believe this was the first movie I was ever taken to see in the theater. I had to have been 3 going on 4. I remember bits and pieces of the experience but this scene right here stands out the most in my memory. Still get chills to this day when that music hits

This was released 4 years before I was born. Damn, I would've _loved_ to see it on the big screen. But I was about 3 or 4 when I first saw it on VHS, and it became my all-time favorite movie. And still is. ☺️

She looks like my crazy neighbor. One eye and everything.
This isn't a puppet show, it's mostly true. 0:45 - as above so below. Hermetics. She doesn't mean "here in the metal contraption. She means HERE, in this reality. Think I'm a kook then get back to The View with Whoopie if you can't see it.
Did they build a human sized set just so they could have shots like 1:24 where it's obvious Jen is being played by a human?
