For those who can't get enough of this man: -Amistad was not his first liberation of slave ships -He was governor of both Gambia en Western Australia, both times he had a reputation of greatly improving relations with the natives and infrastructure -He lived on well past the american civil war, defacto witnessing the end of slavery in the western hemisphere and died for natural caused at the age of *96* which was quite unusual in that time.

While ofcourse the British empire has to attone for alot of abuse itself, I absolutely love that the otherwise stereotypical antagonist that is the stuck up British officer for once comes out 100% as the hero of the story. It's undeniable (while hypocritical in regards to native abuse, unrestricted child labor and colonisation) that the British empire did cripple the Trans atlantic slave trade to a point beyond repair. History just ain't black and white

"They're showing us how far they're willing to go" It's like in our real world when Jihadists purposely blow themselves fully intending to die when they carry out attacks. And it's scary cause they knowingly and willingly seek death.

One thing they did so great in the star trek shows from the 80's 90's and early 2000's is they kept the same races and all the shows referenced each other. The world they created had a life of its own and the writers all knew what was going on and how to keep it going. The borg.. klingon's their look and style look of the ships. The pacing and short story per episode with 20+ episodes per season. You really got to know the cast, characters and care about them. That's all gone now. Look at what they did in discovery with the klingons first few seasons.. wtf.. Then they go 1k years in the future and its another wtf? Same name of show " star trek" but they gutted everything that made it so great and what made those old shows have such a fan base even back to the original series.

"I have given you back the horrors of war." Great line. "Only this time the next attack they launch will do a lot more than count up numbers on a computer!" Even better line. Great writing! Another one came before these: " I didnt start it councilman, but I am liable to FINISH it!" After all these years, this stuff is still priceless!

Of course the joke is for ethnic ( I.e. Chinese etc. ) restaurants serving "inauthentic" food that will appeal to a wider more diverse tastes than their own group. If a real Klingon approached him he will quickly offer "authentic" (live) food. But since they were human / quasi-human he first offered food intended to not gross them out.
