Same here. I was younger, following the cues of my in-laws who are super hardcore dems. I knew nothing about politics, my own parents have never voted or even paid any attention to politics of any kind. I was just young and stupid. I voted for Obama his first term...sadly. I must apologize to our entire country for that. After his first term, I was starting to wake up and realize that the liberals were just mostly blind sheep. Last election cycle I still wasn't really on board with Romney/Ryan so I voted 3rd party. This cycle...I can't WAIT to vote for Trump. I agree with many liberals that he seems like a pompous ass sometimes, and he probably is. He is very sure of himself, very confident and he doesn't care if you like that or not. THAT is what I love about him. I do believe he means what he says when he says he wants to make America great again. I don't believe that anyone could ever tell him what to do. I believe he is stubborn enough that he is going to do what he believes is right no matter what anyone says, no matter how unpopular it is with the politicians in Washington. I just believe he is a successful, confident, SMART man who knows how to get stuff done. Yeah, sometimes he can be a bit of a showman but who cares?! He loves our country, and wants to do what's right for it. I'm so glad I woke up to this realization well before my 40's or 50's. I wish more young people could see through the thinly-veiled socialism that is the Democratic Party.

Dont worry, he wont. Trump made so many contradictory promisses, with no details on how to do any of them, that he cant possibly perform as people expect him to. I agree. Jr sounds like a real conservative to me, who actually believes in repub conservative principles, understands policy, and actually gets conservatism. I am not a Trump fan, I think he is a terrible candidate. But Jr gave a great conservative speech here, great lines on school choice, dodd frank, gun rights, tax reform, and gov bureaucrats living at our expense. And he did not spend the whole time harping on how bad Hillary was, but gave a real defense of Reagan optimistic conservatism. It was the best speech I had heard from this convention, and a great defense of some basic repub conservative ideas. In fact he gave a better speech here than anything I had ever heard from his dad. He did not sound like a leftie authoritarian who was faking being a conservative, like Trump, but he sounded like he really gets liberty based conservatism. If Trump wants an advisor who really gets small gov conservatism, listen to Jr, he gets it.

Middle class workers benefit most under conservative principles, gays are more than welcome in the Republican party and it's just a few nuts who are against it, and abortion is murder so I'm glad the party doesn't support it (medical student who has read numerous books about the subject. The fetus is fully developed mere weeks into pregnancy and then only changes in size so it is completely human).

As far as the "knocking down teaching professionals", I don't believe he was attempting to knock them all down- I have, however, met a few teachers who are just burnt out, nearing retirement age, and simply have no place in teaching- but they have tenure, so the unions fight for them to stay on. I love a majority of my teachers, as well as my school district as a whole, but a few of them leave you with a sour taste. Furthermore, if you believe it's just some kid ranting about bad teachers(understandable), we have had multiple students&parents come to administrators about them, every year, but nothing is able to be done. Not knocking down on unions either, as I like them- but some people just need gone, same for all professions. Good day!

Canada has done just fine with paper ballots. I was not impressed by the results but it is really hard to hack a paper ballot.

Incredible, articulate, down to earth speech from this well spoken man. You can say many things about Donald Trump, but you can NOT deny he has a wonderful, beautiful, and loyal family. Great speech, you get to see the better side of trump when Jr talks. People like the jr more it seems like lol

WOW!!!! This was a truly a superb speech. Why is it that you can count on what Trump says? It's because he truly loves America and has worked hard to make it where he is.

Donald Trump believes in speaking succinct and staying on a specific message. His son really elaborated on the principles his father believes in. Trump needs to start learning how to articulate his points in a more detailed way like his son did. A man does not have such impressive kids by mistake. I hope people look at his wonderful children as a testament to his character.

Yes, I agree with Science Guy - Only someone successful on a business platform could deliver a speech like that today - I haven't seen the likes of that - since the Kennedy's. His delivery and poise was pitch-perfect, and elegantly authoritarian. Spectacularly articulate, genuine passion, clear and measured phrasing, and some quotable-quotes that sounded unique (and not plagiarized...?!) I believe he's planted some new seeds for his future. I'm pretty sure they will come knocking on his door in the next 4 or 8 years. Absolutely riveting - it doesn't get much better than this. His father must be overwhelmed with pride.

Mauro Augusto Mexia I don't trust Donald Trump Sr. because of much of his past rhetoric. His wall is just another big government program and wasteful and stupid one at that. He believes in universal healthcare, and he's talked about using the government to go after potential political enemies. The man in the past has supported significant tax hikes. Trump has more of a history of being a big government liberal and that is why I don't support him. Hell when the primary season started I was hoping Cruz wouldn't win because I thought he was an asshole by the time it was almost over I was praying Cruz would win because at least he's an asshole I can agree with and trust. At this point I'm voting for Gary Johnson and don't worry I live in California so it won't make much of a difference.
