Full Pull Down Whistler From The Top Of the Gondola!

Спорт

During crankworx, I was supposed to be in the whistler village by 2pm, but I tried to sneak in one more run when I found myself at the top of the Gondola with less than 20 minutes to get down.
Keep in mind a bunch of trails had been closed for one reason or another over the week due to ongoing Crankworx events, work on the new Fitzsimmons chair, and trail maintenance. I'm not a Whistler local, and had I thought about this a bit more, I would have taken a much different and direct route, but hindsight is 20/20. For example, Angry Pirate had not been opened the previous runs, so I assumed it was not opened all this week. I would have also taken original sin instead of freight train.

Dude, watching Phil absolutely wreck trails is one of the reason's I bought NOBL's. They are bomb proof, I have had so many big impacts and square edge hits and they don't flinch. They stay true to boot!

Man, I was watching that and felt my head going from side to side, just like watching the bobsled at the Winter Olympics! Dude, I have been subbed to your channel for about 7 years now and your riding is always fun to watch. Been out of riding the last 2 years... life got in the way a bit but I am getting my mojo back to riding. Ordered a new bike and have been binging on my riders I've subbed to over the years. Thanks for your inspiration! I'm 51 this year but never felt more like a kid watching this stuff, so cool.

@@SkillsWithPhil Back in the 90's, I'd ride my GT LTS (full suspension - Back spring and front Rock shock with 2 inches of travel! 🤣) down fireroads like that at Stevens Pass (Washington) and that bike was a glorified 10 speed (with 24 gears) with my head over the bars! Just waiting for a OTB moment. I'm STILL riding it now but upgrading to a bike made in the 2020's now so I should do better!

Just by happenstance, I started watching this video with about 20 minutes before I needed to leave for a meeting. I honestly didn't look at the length of the video before I started watching it (but Phil's videos are usually about that long so I thought I'd be safe). It was great to experience nearly the same "time anxiety" as Phil did. It certainly made watching the video that much more fun! Keep up the good work Phil!

Thank you so much for posting this! My 6 & 7 year olds have been watching every one of your videos for a few years now, and we were at the top of Whistler today, watched people start riding down, saw riders under our gondola on the way down, and watched people ending at the bottom. This video was great for our kids to see what that all looks like from your point of view, and then see you ride up almost next to our hotel.. they really enjoyed seeing this, knowing you and Nick were here only a short time ago. Keep posting great varieties of videos!

The stamina needed to do a full pull down the whole mountain is crazy! We started down from the 2nd gondola, and went down easier trails than you did, and I was so gassed out that I had to stop a few times. For me the hard part was the g-forces in the berms, it makes you feel like you weigh twice as much. I rented a Commencal full DH bike with 200mm travel and no dropper post, and I quickly realized I wasn't conditioned to stand up going downhill for 20+ min straight.
