I tried one of those internal cards before, and ended up with weird audio issues that apparently was impossible to fix. Would like to have a new capture device, but I keep running into issues that apparently can't be fixed, even when I asked online...it sucks. -.-

I haven't used a capture card since the Elgato HD 60 came out so I decided to get the 4k X. I'm using it for my ultrawide Samsung Neo G9 so we'll see how that goes. I also have my gaming laptop so I can use it for that whenever I'm traveling.

I've been using the Elgato 4K60 S+ in standalone mode, recording footage to a micro SD card. That allows me to use my living room setup and grab footage impulsively and while enjoying games in a natural environment without ever having to disconnect anything. I'm surprised the new 4K X has dropped that feature.

if you want real high end, buy a Atomos ninja ultra. but it is kind of overkill. but missing high frame rate. but a whole lot more, other features.

is it possible the 4k pro can get a firmware update to allow it to record and capture 4k @ 120hz in the future I mean it can already do 8k 60 and that is something to behold but we just need streaming platforms like youtube and facebook to catch up now

A bit of an incomplete review. Where's my info about DV support? The last time you guys reviewed an HDMI 2.1 capture card there was nothing about the lack of DV support, which is a major downside if you plan to use it with a PC or Xbox Series. What about the HDMI 2,1 speed, is it full speed 48Gbps or did they cheap out? What about DSC support? Where's the review of the quality of the video recorded by the X? It's USB port is not fast enough for raw data so there's some compression/encoding at play, and there's nothing in the review covering this in even a subjective sense. Your review focused WAY too much on "well it works on my PS5" when that's not really what a capture card should be reviewed as

i think they have to make it known in the video that its a sponsored video in addition to using the hashtags. The website has different information on the specifications. the X can do HDR10. I think ill pick up this capture card. great information!

no, i think the move, they made, was to get us to buy 2 cards, and i did. this makes no sense, putting, the newer chip inside the usb version, and not the pcie version. but you do get dual output, with pcie version. id rather pay $1000 for one and done, displayport, multi input, hdmi 2.1 at full 48gbps bandwidth pcie 4.0 x4 and SDI, while were at it. Avermedia pulled the same, but just stuck, there usb, on a pcie card. the real pro companies, don't have any new offerings yet. maybe after nab in april.

Except they can? Plenty of KZreadrs do honest reviews of sponsored products, not sure why this channel would be any different. If you have trust issues about whether or not the review is honest because it's a sponsored video, that's your own fault.

@@iamCifu Why not? Who says they can't be honest? It's not like there's a law saying they can't. In fact, it would be far more likely that there's a law saying they have to be honest in their review. Again, if you can't trust the review because they got the products for free, that's on you.

Would be nice to be more upfront that this was a sponsored review. Elgato "reaching out" is not a declaration of a sponsor

Does this thing work with Steam Deck? Mine comes in today, and I want to be able to stream with it, but from what I hear, getting the HD60 S+ to work with it is a pain in the ass.

I have an AverMedia LGP2+, and I can record from that by turning off the HDCP. It looks aight, maybe look into that?

@@KayFiOSIt has a major perk of recording completely PC-free! You can capture everything to a microSD card. I use it all the time since I haven’t built a PC strong enough to run decent capture software yet.

​@@DanominatorMy PC is strong enough to run capture software, but I can't run any game alongside it or the stream might cut out. I lost a huge section of my three heart run of Ocarina of Time 3D running in Citra, and it was heartbreaking. 💔💔💔

@@KayFiOS nahhhhhh that would suck 🙃🙃🙃 If it helps you feel better, I livestream with this capture card using the normal PC mode all the time and have never had any issues.

What makes them different? Well, its definitely NOT the way it looks when it comes to the internal unit. The "new" 4K PRO looks identical to my current 4K PRO from like 5 years ago. Still disappointing to see the FPS support for 4K has only gone up from 30fps to 60fps. I cannot see a reason to upgrade my unit for that very reason.

One sad limitation of the 4K X: If you're gaming at 4K120 HDR, you cannot capture at 4K60 HDR. The 4K Pro can't convert frame rates at resolutions above 1080p, so if you're gaming at 4K120 HDR, the highest capture resolution possible is 1080p. There is still no solution available which allows you to game at 4K120 HDR and capture at 4K60 HDR. The 4K X comes close by doing 4K60 SDR while forcing its internal tone mapping on you.

Everyone is talking about how it's not trustworthy when sponsored but I'm sitting here like who even needs something like this? Recording and uploading anything using it for gameplay or cameras can only upload or stream so much to any platform. It changes nothing in end result cause on Facebook KZread Twitch X or otherwise you aren't getting any better then what you see now. Not to mention with all the stuff built into PCs and consoles now a days a capture card in and of itself is starting to become a pointless thing. There are some use cases still but those use cases shrink every year. Plus how many of you really need and would properly utilize something like this that you can't/haven't done in other ways already. There is a reason it took them this long to do so.

My priority is making my stream watchable by the average person. The average person isn't watching 4k 1080P because they lack the internet, the bandwidth, or the system (especially on a phone). These tools do nothing for me because they do nothing for the vast majority of my viewers.

Elgato sucks. I had one of their capture cards before and ended up returning it. Got a different brand and it actually functions correctly.

well you don't have many choices, they all mostly work, it is usually user error, or microsoft, or it could be bad drivers or software, there is a lot of variables. i got $2500 capture card, and it is about 99% always good to go. i use all kinds of brands, have a great day.

@@tek_soup It was in 2019, I got an Elgato that said it was USB 3.0 (every 3.0 device is history is backwards compatible with 2.0 *except* this device apparently). But my computer with USB 2.0 only ports didn't even recognize it. I've since upgraded to a new computer, but that's besides the point. Elgato can't even get a universal standard correct. While the speeds are slower, you should still be able to use a USB 3.0 device in a USB 2.0 port, that's part of the standard. So it's 100% Elgato's fault for screwing it up. And since then, I don't trust Elgato devices.

yeh thats fine, i don't like usb capture cards at all. the usb standard sucks, nothing but dropped frames, the devices just lose connection out of no where. i use pcie and thunderbolt mainly. yeh i bought both today, but im plugging it into a $400 usb 10gbs card from sonnettech. or a thunderbolt port, i got elgato camlink, it just out of no where decides, it does not like a port, today. and i have to move it around. I really hate usb, but were stuck with it. @@EPS5000

and my problems, come from, i use alot of usb devices, and run them at very far lengths, because i want my computers, in a different room, or i use them in multiple rooms. ive been messing with long runs for like 20 years or more. it gets wacky, all the stuff i have bought, thank god for optical, cables getting cheeper.@@EPS5000

It’s weird how everyone who’s used Elgato stuff tells me it dies at complete random. Even a lot of content creators have completely switched from using them because of their cards dying on them. Hopefully this new sponsorship of yours doesn’t sway your reviews too much…and I’ll be curious to see how well this new card holds up over time.

so many variables, i started with 2 VCR's in the 80's.

I paid 300 bucks for the old 4k60 and didn’t work I ended up with a brick. I don’t trust this ninjas anymore

They also weren't always partners and have been just as open before as they are now about their opinions and emotions. Money doesn't dictate opinion, at least when it comes to GVG from my experience with watching them.

Funny how as soon as GVG gets sponsored because they ALREADY USED ELGATO PRODUCTS now all of a sudden everyone is wary if we can trust their review? So if they werent sponsored we'd listen? Pick a lane people 🙄
