Lol I love e.l.f. but those early $1 products were terrible! over 20 yrs ago, I was a Year 1 customer, and went way overboard ordering online (they werent in stores initially), ended up wasting most of it, tbh. After a few more fails & a couple years of trying very good quality makeup, around 2008 I made a hard & fast "no e.l.f" rule. Then I quit most makeup around 2012 due to depression & severe health problems & horrible facial dysphoria.. I got back into it during the pandemic, using what little I had left, & started building a new makeup collection soon after. I kept seeing beautiful elf products but had to remind myself they were all bad...then last year I started watching beauty youtube and reading beauty blogs, and learned that they are pretty great now. I've only had a couple elf fails since 2021, so I've forgiven them. I do wish they would bring the glitter liquid liner back tho, it's the only product where i can deposit just a few specks of glitter right on the center of the eyeline & make my eyes look twinkly!

I still got old elf-brushes from like 10 years ago and sometimes still use to this day. I haven't bought any other products until the halo glow liquid filter came out.

Why do I like this guy so much? Aside from the content, it's just him. I like his looks, his accent, his laugh, his mannerisms. So cute and fun. I want to roll him up in a blanket like a burrito and just carry him around with me. 😂

I absolutely adore elf. I used to buy elf products when I first started wearing makeup back when it was considered the crappy "cheap" brand of drugstore makeup, which was almost 20 years ago. Now, it's seriously better and more popular than the high-end brands. Elf definitely has come a long way and they just keep on getting better!

Love seeing someone use some of the older methods, like using shadow on the lash instead of liner. Makes me feel vindicated that I still use some older make up techniques mixed in with newer ones

What I love about watching professional makeup artists such as yourself are the tips I pick up that I can use on my face. The tip about the orangy-orange vs slightly darker peach color correction under the eyes was just brilliant. As a mature person with aging dry as a desert skin, my preferred makeup look is barely-there natural. The peach color correction tip will be used forth-with! Thank you. edit: I didn't hear your fan at all. And you deserve to be comfortable regardless. Makeup application is impossible when you are hot and sweaty. Your fans will totally understand.

Those little bite size pallettes are great for traveling. The putty blushes are fab too. I much prefer cream blush for daytime and summer.

Elf really is a brand that doesn’t miss! Their launches are so thoughtful and intentional and perfect! The putty line is perfection! Also, those new wands are 100000000000 times better that Charlotte Tilbury and Tarte! I have so many of those little quad shadows and they blend beautifully and together so well! ❤

Thank you for always teaching about how much product to use! Not many creators do especially given that you don’t need to use nearly as much product an influencer will use under intense lighting for real life

The right brush for the right task is important. Tap with a dense, but soft brush for foundation. I like a small, but rounded brush with longer soft bristles to blend eye shadow. Just two examples. All my best.

The ELF primer is so similar to the Milk Hydrogrip. We were trained to pump out a raindrop size onto the fingertip, lightly distribute to the other hand fingertip, and with both hand fingertips start patting in the t-zone, and tap it outwards. It will feel slightly sticky, that's fine. It will dry down quickly and ready for makeup. Less is more!

Watching you explain how to apply the primer correctly really makes me miss your tutorials. 💜🖤

If I could ever have someone professionally do my makeup, it would be you Robert. I learned how to do my makeup reading Avon sale magazines as a kid and at 35, I still find myself failing to find products I like and techniques that work for me. But I love watching your videos because it challenges the trends and influencer-driven hype. I don’t have social media so I miss a lot of it but following your videos makes me feel more confident in my makeup journey. I just wish I could have you do my face and tell me straight up how it needs to go. ❤️✌️

I happen to like the background fan sound. It reminds me of growing up in L.A. and my mom always knew how to place 2 fans to keep a room relatively cool. I miss her and the fan sound i love ❤

I used to be a makeup snob too lol. I wouldn’t even think of putting drugstore products on my face 🤦🏽‍♀️. I think during the pandemic, drugstore brands really stepped up their game and I’m a fan!

I love the elf eyeshadows!! Affordable and the colors are great!!

elf is my absolute eye shadow go-to. I’ve had a couple shimmers crack on me from the palette, but I put it in a contact lens case to keep using. I also keep some of the Holy Hydration skincare around. So good. The Hydrating Camo concealer is my go-to when I need more coverage under my eyes. elf is awesome!

I used the power grip for the second time today after not using it for a while because I wasn't wowed. But man is it good, especially it being hot! I have combination skin and it helps make the makeup not look so patchy.

This is PERFECT timing. I'm going shopping tomorrow but I'm on a budget so I was planning on checking out elf products. It's like you're in my head 🤣🤣💜💜

I've got that blush and it's lovely for summer. I run pale (dead, vampiric even...technically we call that Scottish) so always use guerlain bronzer in 00 to add some life to my face and then tap the Elf blush into my cheeks for some healthy colour and it's so glowy and nice. 1 pump of Power grip primer dotted on your face then sprayed with Fit+ blends like a dream!

I love e.l.f products. Great products and you cannot beat the prices for the quality!!! I recently purchased the putty blush and love it.

I put like 3 pumps of the elf primer on my face and have neverrrr had issues. Love it!

Over here in Texas, we are waking up to 85°F (29.4°C) and the high temperature for the day is 111°F (43.8°C). I feel like my skin is literally melting off my body! And as an oily person with Rosacea, that is a truly horrible feeling. I hate feeling hot - I prefer Fall or Winter temperatures. BTW, I absolutely love your videos (yours and James' collab videos as well) and am constantly checking to see if you have uploaded new videos to distract me from this heat! ❤ Sometimes my foundation won't stick to my nose, and I have tried all of your tips and recommendations (yes, even the eyelid primer trick 😊). Some days the foundation I use does and the next day The same foundation (applied with the same moisturizers/primer vs no primer, etc) does not apply and stick as it did the day before. It is super frustrating!

Do we need to start a GoFundMe to get Robert a window AC? I need more content to watch! Thank you for bearing the hot temps to give us more of you!

Elf has been doing amazing lately. Their primers have neen my favorite, the green color correcting one makes my skin so soft, my pores become less noticeable, and not break out. I'll have to check out these other products!

I tried their flawless satin foundation....but the fragrance was soooo strong and old lady perfumey, that I couldn't finish applying it!! I had to take it off and wash my face to get rid of the smell. I'm autistic and smells really bother me, especially when I don't like them 😢 I was so disappointed as it looked like it was going to sit really well on my skin.....the search continues for the perfect foundation for a 40something skin!

I have migraine and asthma, so I have the same wish. I've had better luck with Wet 'n'Wild, actually. But if ELF offered some fragrance free options, I would absolutely buy them.😊

Their color correctors are a steal. I, also, am loving their contour wands. They're killing it and I'm here for it.

What interests me, is how are you putting on makeup in hot weather. From the point of putting moisturizer and SPF on my face, I start sweating, forming little dots of sweat in my upper lip area and forehead, and foundation and powder applies terribly on top of that.

Robert, is there any way you could do a video on brushes on a budget in the shape/style you use? Trying to learn how to use brushes, and your technique is wonderful, but finding inexpensive brushes like what you use is proving difficult. I'm reluctant to spring for the pricey cosmetic brushes until I have the technique down. I got a close type to the powder foundation brush you recommended to me, and thank you so much, my application has gotten a lot better and looks a lot more put together with it.
