The main issue with beauty KZreadrs and make-up artists is that they get so used to using high end and luxury brands that they are too tough on drugstore products. Those of us on a budget love affordable brands. I’m a make up lover, but I’m poor, lol.

@@RobertWelsh yes, but you got the worst they have & it's geared towards the more mature skin type! I have their regular & it's great, but for 8hrs, but as a cream bronzer, I like their foundation made with salicylic acid geared to help with acne. They're hit n miss, but I own more e.l.f. & Bh Cosmetics than Maybelline, Covergirl, & L'oreal combined. Brushes from both too. I can't afford anything else, so I learned something today about it. You should do a poll for what we who are frugal buy,maybe?

I love E.L.F. makeup not all of their products, but most of them. I love that the products are never tested on animals and all products are plant based. That means more to me than having perfect makeup. I love how you do your eyes with such ease, I always think, “that looks easy, I can do that”, then reality sets in and my eyes end up looking like crap.

Us Europeans get the so called "drugstore" makeup for an extra penny as always. NYX has the same issue, Wet n Wild also. Sure, we have brands like W7, but their products aren't as good, let's be honest...

Does anyone remember when e.l.f products were only $1, $2, or $3. I love how they’ve stepped up their game though!

Emily Brown yes the quality has definitely went up not that they didn't have some decent products then but even more so now. While not everything is great some are amazing, but isn't that the case with almost everything?? At least in skincare and makeup they're comparable to so many other high end but the price ....or lack of makes it so much better

Robert is one of the few beauty channels that don't make me feel bad about what I use or my skill level

Elf has really good eyeshadows imo. The big palettes like “opposites attract” is a gorgeous palette. Also they have an array of color schemes in their “mad for matte” smaller palettes. Some of the smaller black palettes that aren’t just matte shades don’t have the best shimmers to me but the matte shades are almost always very good. I’d love to see Robert try the Milani eyeshadows palettes. My favorite is soft & sultry. It’s beautifullllll.

Leanne his foundation is usually the same color as that smiley face emoji imo. And from what I've seen his skin looks very pinky, like I'm sure theres another foundation or brand of foundation that would match since he has a very "normal" skin shade...normal meaning most brands any drugstore up to ALL high end have that light shade/fair shade. No wonder you see all these young girls running around with yellow or orange faces like no one told them how to wear makeup. It's not JUST a matter of light- dark, like this is medium light 2 so I'm not than tan i need one shade lighter, its matching it to your tone. You may actually not need to go "up or down " just a tad warmer or cooler or one with no pink undertones etc. Its like some girls or women just find a shade they like and if it's not 5 shades darker than they skin they're like ok this will be the shade of my face lol

That 'Mad for Matte' doesn't like to blend well for me. I can use the darkest color for eyeliner on my lid but I use Hard Candy ones most of the time. I'm not a person that can buy the more expensive palettes & I'm still looking for a brown/neutral palette that isn't ORANGE! My eyes have always hated those browns & I look like a clown & I HATE clowns... So, I will continue to wait for a Drugstore one to come out

🤯 MIND BLOWN! Most ppl, including me, get just one primer for the face! But you used 2, and applied them to different parts of your skin, depending on oily or dry textures!! Whaaaat??!!! So funny I am super super pale but my undertones are yellow/olive so I rarely find products that are light enough for me that match my undertone. The only foundation I have ever found in the history of existence is Fenty Beauty’s.

Robert, THANK YOU for making a video on affordable makeup. I actually started watching KZread beauty videos because I needed to replace my high end products with more affordable ones. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with a life threatening autoimmune disease and had to retire from my job. This was four years ago and I have accomplished my goal to use only use less expensive products. I use a lot of Elf products (especially skincare), but they can be hit or miss. PS I LOVE the matte shades in the Elf Bite Size palettes in "truffle and carnival!"

ELF is a great brand, but just like Makeup Revolution, it's VERY hit and miss. Not everything is going to work for everyone, and their foundations have never been great to begin with. I don't think you came off as hoitty toitty at all, in fact, I could feel your pain throught the video with the products that were not good. Thank you for being authentic and not pretending it's all amazing.

I also found Sakura is a good vegan brand. Pacifica is vegan I like the blush and bronzer for my skin tone. Surkura has some odd color combinations on the eye shadow palletes but they are nice for daytime

I looooove their rose gold shadow pallette (nude rose gold), the instant lift brow pencil, lock on liner and brow cream, and the matte lip colors!

Omg I LOVE THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG!!! It is the best! The setting! The music!

Elf is an amazing hypoallergenic vegan brand that has amazing prices. and I love that they're so inclusive of people that they even put their product and Canadian dollar stores so everyone can buy it no matter what their budget is. I've seen so many bad reviews of Elf due to the fact that they are a cheaper brand. but their products are just as high quality as wet and wild.

I feel like a lot of the products I didn’t like, was down to my shade picks, if I got a better foundation and powder for example I would have liked it more! I think they are pretty great as a brand and I was impressed with so much! 🖤

I have a hard time thinking of them as inclusive when I look at their shade range. And I don't consider Wet n Wild to be a quality benchmark. But I do like certain Elf products

Yep i use it and blended correctly, used lightly it looks very nice. It never causes me breakouts or irritation.

I like Elf, and *wish* I liked it even a little more than I do. The prices are mostly right. But I have found that with many of their products, when I own a similar item from a competing brand, even in the same price range, it just doesn't turn out to be the Elf product I reach for. Now that I have more stuff to pick from, the only Elf stuff I use with regularity is the primer putty and the eyeshadows. I have the Opposites Attract palette, which I like, and the rose gold palette, which... I like the colors, but am never that happy with the finished look when I use that one. Robert is definitely right about the lashes, though. The ones he bought are $4 a pair, and in general the Elf lashes already aren't great. I would be ok if they were $1, or maaaaybe even $2 just because I don't often see very many single-pair lashes on sale for a very low price. But $4? No thanks!

I would love to see a video about makeup sanitizing and keeping a professional kit clean between clients. not sure if you’ve done something like that before but i’m curious what products you use personally!

Absolutely agree!! Princess and The Frog is my favorite Disney movie EVER!! I'm from the bayous of South Louisiana, so I adored the setting, music and premise of the whole movie!

Your honesty on the products you used is so refreshing to see not many mua's are I might give the eyeshadow palette a go but in the rose tone I'm getting a Charlotte tilbury vibes from those palette even if they not shaped the same palette the colour schemes are so similar xx hope you have a super day Robert xxx

Do a L’Oréal one ... I’ve always bought expensive foundations like Mac and smash box, etc but the L’Oréal pro glow is literally my favorite foundations ever ... it wears incredibly ... since you’re oily you’d probably want to try the pro matte ... which I’ve heard people absolutely LOVE as well ... I feel like I’ve been wasting money on expensive foundations after finding this foundation!!!

I loveeeee the hydrating concealer. It's the only one I've ever found that doesnt make my undereyes look dry but still gives full coverage. I can use a tiny bit so I don't have to cake up product!

It isn't ! At least not for me. Just don't use very much product or it will crease. But you don't need much

@@AL-wi6wl it wasnt clingy for me at all! It's very natural and smoothing. Its definitely not full coverage if that's what you are looking for.. it's more of a hydrating, lightweight and natural finish. I really really like it actually. I naturally have tons of lines and creases under my eyes.. it runs in my family sadly.. lol and I have a really hard time finding concealers that will not just cake up and make it look worse. I was pleasantly surprised by this one!!

I was in the middle putting my 2 year old daughter down for a nap when I got the notification for this video. I literally put her in the crib and ran out like "OK GOODNIGHT I LOVE YOU" so i could sit down to watch in peace hahaha. Btw I'm a single mom and shes started calling you and James Daddy" for some unknown reason. Honestly no idea where shes even heard that word before hahahah what the hell. Maybe because you kind of look like her cousins dad? I dunno. And don't worry, I always correct her, and we usually watch your videos while eating lunch together.

@@joy_is_purple hahah after reading 8 books three times in a row, I think she was ready to go down anyway. Shes pretty good though, she loves their videos. Besides Peppa Pig, it's the only thing she'll sit down to watch. And she loves to play with my makeup now whenever I'm slapping something on my face to look a little more human.

If you're looking for a really nice, drugstore eye primer, I recommend the Wet N Wild Photofocus eyeshadow primer. I have really oily lids, and this has been the only primer that's worked for me
