Raw turmeric is just a western invention. Think about it, when your dry turmeric i.e. remove water from it, you basically concentrate the turmeric. That way you have to use less of it. Western taste buds are not used to flavor of turmeric nor they know how to eat it, I have seen them sprinkle it directly on food and then complain about its flavor. That's why they eat it either Raw or use dried turmeric powder in a capsule. But thing is turmeric needs fat for it to be absorbed by the body so frying turmeric powder in a tadka makes perfect sense. Indians also like to mix turmeric with milk due to this same reason.

I'm now 6 months in and OH MY GOD! I have been at this for 7 years and I have never seen these many changes. I've gone from 97kg to 85kg, which doesn't seem like a lot, but it is such a massive milestone for me!
