Very clear, concise & informative review - have the XT-1 and went for the 18-135 and walk-about is easy. Bought the battery-grip and the balance is just right as is the longer battery life.

Great review. I was having difficulty making up my mind but now I will definitely go with the 18-135 in combination with the 10-24. (for travel) I especially liked your discussion of the ergonomics!

Exactly my thought! I was looking at the 16-55 f2.8 and the 55-200 F2.8 to complete the range, but the 10-24 and 18-135 do that with some money leftover.

Jason, this was awesome. I've been looking everywhere for the comparison between the two lenses. It's the ergonomics that made a difference for me. When you're shooting and you're on "auto" mode that last thing you want is to have a hiccup in your work flow by continually zooming when trying to focus or visa versa. Oh, and the weather sealing on the 18-135! I didn't know that. Thanks!

Only just come across your videos Jason, but liking them a lot. I have the 18-135 on my X-Pro2 and it is fantastic. I also have the 35mm F2 which is also brilliant.

Hi. 1855 at 55 max aperture is 4. What is 18135 min aperture at 55? Its 5,6 at 135, but what is at 55? Thanks.

what about low light performance in these two lenses? im more travel photographer and probably ill get the 135mm, but since 18-55mm is 2.8, what about 18mm@2.8 compared to 18mm@3.5 in the 135mm lens?

Hi Jason, I would like to get smooth bokeh effects in potraits, and also take pictures of landscapes and wildlife, in avg and low lights.. which one is better for that? Or do I need a set of two lens? Looking forward to your reply.

I've been mulling over getting this lens for a while now, this video helps out my final decision a lot, thank you. really want to have a one lens do it all kit that I can carry without the need to change lenses, even though this lens is much bigger and heavier than the 18-55 (which I have) being able to reach out to 135 at a snap with the zoom lens is an amazing thing for travel. I will hunt down a used copy as they go for about half the price where I live.

Good, informative video :-) I bought the 18-135mm (and the 18-55mm came with my X-T2, but gets no use at all). All I need now is the 10-24mm! Thank you for sharing your experience

which is more useful for weddings, 18-55mm or 35mm? also, is there lot of difference in the sharpness? I'm planning to get the XT-10 and I can afford only one lens with it.i'm a beginner and i would be using it for general photography, landscape, group shots, etc...appreciate your feedback.

EXCELLENT review!

I am a beginner and want to start with XH1 and 18-135 as my fuji gear. Do you think its good to go with it?

After this review I knew what to do to become a great photographer..

Like others, I'm struggling as well trying to determine which kit lens to choose. When I bought my Canon DSLR, It came with an 18 55 and a 55 250. I ended up selling the long lens and getting a 18 - 200 because it was a pain swapping out the lenses. I never missed the kit lenses and never used the 18 55 after that. So I believe I will get the 18 135 and the 10 24. Then for portraiture pick up the 56 f 1.2. Now the Titanium sliver or the Black body.. decisions decisions.

I recently got an 18-135 to pair with an X-T2 and really enjoy the flexibility. I had a similar 'analog' kit in the '90's with a Pentax K1000 and it performed like a reliable Honda Civic of photography. Great value for the price. What I'm not understanding is at 8:00 you mention getting 200mm range out of the 18-135mm - I'm confused.

135mm with the 1.5x crop factor of the Fuji sensor gives you the equivalent angle of view as a 202mm lens on 35mm

Excellent comparison, sir!! As a newbie to the Fuji Mirrorless System (not new to photography, however), I settled on the 18-135 to cover a marathon in wet Oregon (indeed, the reason I went with the weather-sealed Fuji System!). My question is, do you feel that the XT-1 with the 18-135 would be a solid choice for both a marathon event, plus, general high-quality, sharp landscapes? And have you enlarged images from this system to 24x36 and maintaining image sharpness and detail (assuming good shooting technique and post processing)? Thank you! steve[at]totalqualityphoto.com

Is there enough light in the room? You get more bokeh with the 18-135mm when you're using it at 135mm. If you don't have much light, the 18-55 is better. Really, if you're shooting indoors, I would go with a prime lens to get the best bokeh. XF 56mm 1.2 or 35mm 1.4.

Now I have a Fuji, I am not a fanboy anymore......

I mainly want lens for my hiking landscapes. Don't minor Street photography

People should know that 18-55 f2.8-4 is very soft at 18mm. Fuji community is full of fanboys saying they this lens is extremely sharp, but this is just not true. It is maybe well built, or even good value for money for some people, but it is far from extremely sharp. I will not even call it sharp lens.

If you ever reshoot this review, please consider using the word "again" less often.

haha haha 'Brick Wall' Every time I watch a lens review video I always stop at the 'Brick Wall' test,Waste of Time!!!

One is made in china, one in japan...any opinions about that?

not particularly... I think there is a lot of sample variation in the 18-135mm, from reports I've heard.
