Fully agree. I had the Fuji 27mm (mark 1) and it was okay, nothing special. The rendering of the Voigtlander, although not crazy sharp, is much nicer. Plus it works great in lowlight. Plus it has a better close focussing distance. Plus it has an “in-lens” lenshood. Plus it feels more premium. Plus it looks much nicer. Easy win, in spite of the manual focussing (which actually works great with that little lever).

I own the Ttartisans 27mm f/2.8 and it great. I bought the special edition yellow lens and still on the fence about the color but the performance is great. I also have the Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 and I know Tudor does not like big lenses but this lens is magic! Amazing low light performance and extremely sharp. I would highly recommend it.

I do not have the Fujifilm 27mm f/2.8 or the Voigtlander 27mm f/2 lens. However, I do have Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 and a Zeiss 28mm f/2 that I need to try on my Fuji X digital mirrorless.

Would you say the TTArtisans 25mm f2 manual focus lens is superior in image quality to their AF 27mm? That’s what I keep reading. Have you tried it?

That 40mm f2.5 G is way above either of these lenses. It is super sharp and contrasty wide open. It has tremendous af motors. You would never miss a shot. It has many more buttons as well.

I'm using poor man's zeiss, TTArtisan 25mm F2. I do have Fuji 27mm v1 too, but it is kinda meh… no 3d pop… I am falling in love more with TTArtisan Still need time to recover my finance before dropping on ultron 27mm

Have you tried the TTArtisan copy of the Fujinon 27mm F2.8? Honestly the price per value for that one is a bit mindboggling; having autofocus _and_ aperture ring for the cheap. I'm somewhat torn between that lens and the twin of your TTArtisan 25mm F2, the 50mm F2 (pancake telephoto sounds like a strange but fun idea for some city scape shots).

I think the AF is intended for different kind of shooting style, kinda too similar to xf27 so I don't purchase it. I am using my lens to get manual experience and I am loving it.

I have both the Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 and the Voightlander 27mm f/2 and I agree with most every point that you make in this video. I'm at over 4000 images from the Voightlander and I have not yet tired of it. I never had any issues with the maximum aperture on the Fujifilm lens, f/2.8 was fine and if need be, I have both the 23mm and 35mm f/1.4 lenses. My main issue with the XF lens was the too long minimum focus distance. The Voightlander comes in noticeably closer and allows for better detail shots on such things as table top subjects or in nature. Plus, when shooting at the MFD and f/2, there is beautiful isolation that the Fuji lens can't match. As for the manual versus auto focus, after so many frames made with the Voightlander, I don't even think anymore. My finger hits that tab, my image zooms in (focus assist turned on, peaking turned off) and I can hit 95% of my images in perfect focus. Plus, unlike the cheap TT Artisans type lenses, infinity is true infinity, so I can rack the tab over and get a quick grab shot for distant subjects. The Voightlander costs a lot, and I mentally wrestled with getting one for a long time, but now I can't imagine not having it.

Excellent video 👍 I’ve had a lot of voigtlander lenses adapted to my Fuji camera and can confirm that all Voigt lenses are way way better than all Fuji lenses in image quality, I bought the Fuji xf27 new and after seeing the average image quality I sold it became the xf27mm was just an average lens in image quality and now I have been looking to buy some voigt lenses again as you are correct the image quality is on par with Leica glass as the micro contrast is just incredible from Voigt lenses, as my favourite Voigt glass is the 50mm f2 and the 50mm f1.2 knocton as these lenses are just incredible adapted onto my Fuji but after watching this video I’m definitely buying the Voigt 27mm

But problem with the Voigtlander manual lens is that it's "manual" -- so street photographer "grab a shot" type experience is surely compromised for many less skilled (like myself). Fascinating comparison, however. Thank you.

Not owning the Voigltander I can't comment on it, but I do own a Voigtlander VM 28mm f2 Ultron which I use on my X-T1. It's superb and easy to focus due to the long focus throw. As far as the WR Fujifilm lens I think it's over rated. I have owned it but quickly sold it on as it was no better than my original mk1 version, which I have kept. I prefer the original. It has the same IQ and same so so AF. The weather resistance is meaningless on the camera I intended to use it on (X-T20) and the aperture ring is too close to the camera body to easily use, so is also pointless. The original feels better manufactured to me. Being a sucker for 40-45mm FOV, I also have the TTartisans 27mm. It is my most used the focal length. The IQ is good, if you don't mind a bit of vignetting (don't use the lens hood though, it makes the vignetting much worse. I use it on the above mentioned f2 Ultron or TTartisans 35mm f1.4 where it works a treat). The AF is significantly better than the Fujifilm 27mm, and the aperture ring is easy to use,. It is not quite a pancake lens though. I also have TTartisans 25mm f2. It is slightly wider, but I find that quite nice. It provides good IQ. It is very small and easy to handle. It is cheap as chips. Even if you have Voiglander's or Fujfilm's 27mm I still think it worth having around, especially as a companion to a 35mm. I am tempted by the 27mm Utron, but I am worried about the functionality on older Fujifilm cameras. What and how much would I lose if I tried it on my X-T20 or X-T1?

I think these two lenses are a bit different products. The Fuji lens is the lightest lens you can find in the system (78 grams), and it's the whole idea and the whole purpose. The Voigtlander is twice as expensive and 42 grams heavier. Indeed you would expect better image quality for the price and extra weight. I would consider getting something else from voigtlander, like 23 mm lens or even wider (I like 18 mm fov a lot, maybe they will cover that focal length), and keep that lenscap from fuji even though it's not their most remarkable lens.
