Chris. Very nice mod you made with the flaps. We had a discussion about Dynam planes on Pilot Ryan Media channel not too long ago. The quality is not really bad-but all they need is some minor tweaks in the factory to make them up to par with the likes of Eflite and FMS-for example. I know Ryan and a few others have had some input-suggestions for improvements with the folks at Dynam. If you have any contact-please submit -I believe if they get more suggestions from Folks like yourself-they may take more notice. Sorry for the long post-Enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍😉

Yeah, they are really nice flying airframes. The electronics are ok, but the retracts seem to be the most problematic part to them. The price point is also quite a bit less on the dynams too though.

The only thing missing is the sound of the radial ... nice job on the flap mod ... thanks for sharing.

most timely video for me have Avanti EDF, which has split flaps , thought it should be full flapped and now see how to do it ,,,,,,thanks

Thanks! In the case of the avanti, I’d recommend simply cutting the upper flap portion from the wing and then gluing that part to the hinged lower flap. Super easy mod. When you cut the flap, if you cut the leading edge with a forward bevel, it’ll be a little cleaner.

I know its been a while, do you remember what thicness styrine sheet you used? I'm about to do this same mod. Also awesome video.

I don’t recall off hand unfortunately. You don’t want something too rigid but you also don’t want it too playable either.

Good review, appreciate it. 2 questions, do you have a recommendation for replacement retracts and did you do anything about air intake to cool the motor and ESC?

Thanks! I’m unsure about retracts at the moment. Possibly the eflite Corsair retracts as that model is a similar size. On the motor, I kept it completely stock, so no cooling mods at all and did not have any issues at all.

The retracts from the FMS 1400mm Corsair are pretty much a drop in replacement. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. Just recommended them to fellow club member who had this V-2 and he absolutely loves them. I used them in both my V-1s several years ago. DYNAM RETRACTS ARE JUNK.

@@Thercgeek I also opened up the dummy radial between several cylinder heads for extra cooling, Texas gulf coast and all, regularly 95 degrees plus during the summer. Don't know if it helped, but very easy to do.

@@shelbyseelbach9568 $87 is pretty steep for new retracts. You can order similar sized from hobby king and put the Dynam plastic turning mech to match the stock functionality.

Awesome vid.........I have a question about the flap modification that you made. Did you notice any flap assymetry during extension, and , if so.....how did you correct for it?

If you’ve done the flap mod, make sure there isn’t any binding in the surfaces. It’s possible one side is binding more than the other if you’re getting an asymmetry. Otherwise, the three flap segments didn’t all deflect to the same angle within each side. The inboard segment deflected less just based on the nature of how things were connected and the strength of the servo.

Can’t say that I have. Shouldn’t be too hard to do as the cowl is held by magnets, so comes right off.

Ordered a ESC (40amp) to try in one of my Dynam planes. I don’t like the stuttering when power is low on the throttle. Scares me😬✌🏻🖖🏻

Great video ... the V1 was my very first plane as well ... not a smart choice but it survived a few years now and I am still in Love. I replace the retracts many time until I've found a more stable one. Meanwhile the wings are hardened with a fiber glas - epoxy cover. Can you pls describe again the difference between V1 and V2? I didn't get it, sorry. Is the part of the video about the flap reconstruction taken from a former review? This is exactly what I've made on my plane.

Thanks! I could see these being used as a first airplane with some instruction. It’s so forgiving. The difference of the v2 to the v1 is the addition of the flap. Only the outer section is actuated out of the box though, hence the flap mod I show in the vid.

Just a heads up idk if the fix the rudder issue on the v1 I had 3. The rudder hinge failed all 3 times. Use foam tac or use a live hinge..

Speaking of sound, I just bought my second Freewing F-8 Crusader. Leaving this one stock on it's 5-bladed fan. Anyone know of a way to improve the sound without replacing it to a 12b? (Like some cheater holes stratigically placed or something similar?) I love the thing, which is why I have a second one, but hate the sound of that 5 blade.

I’ve heard of guys putting nerf whistles into the exhausts to help with that. Would give it a higher pitched whine. Otherwise, the fan design and the installation really drove the sound of a fan.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the model anymore so I’m not able to weigh it for you. That said, I wouldn’t worry about the weight in all honesty. The model flys extremely light.

What was the thickness of the plastic you placed between the flaps?

As far as I can tell, the parts and assembly are essentially the same, so I’d be surprised if the v1 parts didn’t work on the v2.

Most likely not. This requires a transmitter and receiver that talk with each other and most of the off the shelf drone stuff these days are proprietary. Using the onboard drone electronics in an airplane won’t work out very well.

Flightline, motion rc. Their corsair is going to be night and day difference compared to this dynam one. This one is ok, but pales in comparison to motion's. Of course, that will also reflect in the cost, but you get what you pay for, sometimes you actually get less with Dynam. Lol.

V-1 was my first plane. Fellow flyer at field has a V-2, the blue on the cockpit isn't even close to matching the plane. Thought it may just be his, but I see that must be common. I went through two V-1s and they did not suffer this paint issue. It makes this plane look horrible. Very disappointing that Dynam sees that the paint isn't even in the neighborhood of being a match and goes ahead with mass production and distribution. Horrible. If they don't care about that, what can you not visibly see that they don't care about?

They need to go to fms to build there planes , horrible quality control. last choice ,I have four dynam aircraft 1 has flown . worst quality with glue joints and retracts

100% only real downfall are the CRAPPY RETRACTS...made to FAIL !! Eflite makes GOOD retracts , so it CAN be done !

Haha! Would be nice if they had a matte sheen to them, that would help. Though, it is nice that the model comes as a blank canvas. You can make it whatever scheme you choose.
