From broken to stronger: How TRIA helped star basketball recruit Tessa Johnson get back on the court

Спорт

The power of sports is undeniable. It can bring people together, to teach us valuable life lessons, and to inspire us to be our best selves.
For Tessa Johnson, star player at St. Michael-Albertville High School, basketball is more than just a game. It is a passion that was instilled in her by her father and one that she will continue to pursue at the collegiate level. Tessa will play for the University of South Carolina Women's Basketball team after she graduates high school.
However, her journey has not been without its challenges.
During a game, Tessa suffered a devastating injury that left her with a broken leg. The injury was the beginning of a journey that started at TRIA, a sports medicine center that specializes in the treatment of fractures.
The TRIA team worked tirelessly to provide Tessa with the care that she needed, communicating with her and working with her personality and determination every step of the way.
Tessa is back on the court and her family is grateful for the opportunity that she has been given to continue pursuing the sport she loves. They know that they would not have been able to do it without the expert care and support of the TRIA team.
And for the TRIA team, Tessa's journey was more than just a job. It was a chance to make a real difference in someone's life. They were committed to providing her with the best care possible, and they were proud of the progress that she made every step of the way.
The power of sports is undeniable, but so too is the power of a dedicated and caring team. At TRIA, Tessa found both, and she can continue pursuing her passion with confidence and determination.

I never knew Tessa has such a serious injury. Going from what could have been a career-ending injury to a NCAA national championship. Amazing! Tessa truly has a championship mentality. God is good! 🙏🏽

As a Gamecock, all I can say is, Thank you TRIA - for giving her the best care and rehab. She is a joy and a shining light on and off the court -- and oh yeah, she is a straight up DAWG, poised to become one of the best guards the women's game has ever seen. Love to watch her rainbow threes hit the bottom of the net and can't wait to see her progress through Year 2 - en route to many more championships.

This young lady during the final game made her mark as the future and hope for the Univ. of South Carolina to continue their reign….Her completion off the bench of several major 3-point shots was one of the major reasons the championship went home to SC. Can’t wait to see what she does next season!!!!

Tessa, work on your whole game...hard. Study the game. An amateur works on a hard shot until they can make it. A pro works on it until they cannot miss.

Why stay there coming off the bench when you can be a star somewhere else?? Don’t say winning a championship because that only benefits the school and the coach. Dawn will get $680,000 in incentives. How much do the players get??? She has another 5star guard coming next year. That will make a total of 5 guards competing for playing time. Players need to do what’s best for themselves and don’t get caught up in this championship crap. Do like Clark, go make a name for yourself self if you have the talent. So what if she didn’t win a championship. Just look at her bank account.

That a joke? Laeticia Amihere came off the bench in all but 4 games in her SC career and still was a top 10 WNBA draft pick. Kamilla Cardoso didn't start until her senior year and was just the 3rd overall pick this year. It's not about being an immediate star, it's about playing for a program that gets you pro-ready, which is crucial when the pro league only has 144 roster spots.
