From being LOCKED up in ETHIOPIA to getting on a KTM in MADAGASCAR in ONE DAY.. [S7-E92]

In this episode, I cross the landborder between Zambia and Malawi. I'm riding straight to the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe, to catch a flight to... MADAGASCAR! I'll be exploring Madagascar for a couple of weeks on a rental motorcycle, a KTM350. But to get there, I'll have to fly via Ethiopia, which comes with a couple of surprises...

I wrote a poem for you about 2 months ago, I just remembered now. Enjoy. Bruised and battered, still she rides, Alaska beneath African skies. Through the West, Central, and South she roves, On dusty roads, where wild wind blows. Alaska, her trusty steed, takes the strain, As Noraly faces challenges, sun and rain. In villages and towns, a warm embrace, Kindred spirits, different yet the same race. The road unfolds, a tapestry of faces, Welcoming smiles in diverse places. Though her bike bears scars of the rugged trail, Human kindness prevails, without fail. Africa's vast canvas, a mosaic grand, Noraly pedals through, a lone nomad. Meeting souls whose stories intertwine, Bridging gaps, transcending time. Bruises on Alaska, a testament true, To the journey's trials, the skies so blue. Yet, in the hearts of those she meets, Resides a warmth that no challenge beats.

Hello Noraly and Alaska , 1,5 month ago I stumbled across your channel and I am now an addict . You show countries and people and animals in a way that really appeal to me. I became even an Experience Member on your website to support you and your travels . You have found the ideal way to turn your passion into a very nice job. Although it is often hard work for you, planning , preparation, recording , editing , etc. etc. Together with my wife we made beautiful journeys ( USA , Egypt and moore ) She passed away a few years ago and since I have spent too much time ( as we say in Netherlands) behind the geraniums . After watching all your seasons ( and moore ) on your Channel I can only say , you made me ITCHY again . Thank you for that . Since I hope to turn 74 next month, I will not be climbing on a motorcycle to ride across Africa but there are more ways to travel . I hope that you can follow your passion for a long time and let me and many others enjoy it . Greetings from Friesland ( for the readers who think where is that , it is a province in the north of the Netherlands) Fedde

Moreover, they agreed to change both the return flight dates and the destination to my flexible tickets. Thank you, Ethiopian! I could not benefit from the hotel in Addis Ababa, my layovers there being 2-3 hours. Anyway, the airport is an experience in itself. I have never seen such an organized Tower of Babel anywhere. The Noraly factor comes to the rescue again. No spending the night on the floor of the airport - no - a luxury hotel with dinner and breakfast. The locked out balcony was the small gratuity fate took. No problem there! Over 2 million people are delighted! 😄 Madagascar! I wondered if you would make it there, but couldn't figure out how. Of course, rent a bike! I so, so look forward to your exploration - wow!

About Ethiopian Airlines, they always check you in a hotel whenever your connecting flight is delayed for over 8 hours. They put us in a very nice hotel back in Nov 2014 when we were flying from the US to visit friends. We had to turn in our passports at the hotel reception. We got to see the nightlife in Addis Abeba. 😊
