"women are not responsible for the personal growth of their harassers" this is the best quote I have ever heard and this needs to be a banner somewhere.

That fact that that dude's advice was "tell the stalker you're creeped out and they'll let up and leave and even change and grow as a person." When Sheila LITERALLY said to them earlier, "you're making me uncomfortable." And he DIDN'T LET UP, I- The self awareness, where is it??

Ahahah wow. As someone who was once almost abducted in broad daylight in the middle of town because the guy trying to drag me to his car told onlookers I was his daughter and just throwing a tantrum, the logic of no criminal ever striking on public is... baffling to me.

Really it ultimately is a matter of consent. The lolita fashion explicitly has been trying to divorce femininity from sexuality for decades. So not only did we not agree for our subculture to be used that way, we are EXPLICITLY AGAINST it. We said NO.

gamergate guy is why i don't even HAVE a facecam on my streams, i don't even have a webcam. plus, telling nicely doesn't work. trust me. i've had 3 stalkers in the past. guys who just wouldn't let up, constantly messaging or calling, following me to all my classes, even when i told them to stop or it's creepy. i've had to go to their parents or the manager at our work to make them stop. and every time, they would pitch a huge fit about how i "lied to them" or that i was too quick to judge them or overreacting. i most definitely was not. they don't grow or better themselves once you told them to stop, they just blame you for "taking it the wrong way" and then write you off as a horrible woman that is "just like all the others".

The thing about Gretchen wasn't just the pole dancing being sexual. It was the fact that she also, more than once, used the words LIVING DOLL and COSTUME when referring to her lolita.

Also the frilly gamergate guy outed himself on cgl asking for help as to why everyone hates him, despite having clearly been told what he did wrong, while according to screenshots he also was in another thread telling women how to be properly women according to their gender roles and spewing vitriolic language at them when he got offended

Oh my god... There really are too many guys like that too! Just a week ago I was talking about how I weed out men on dating sites. I set up a boundary and if they blow past it then I blow past them. For example I'll tell my prospective date that, "I'm not comfortable with touching and cuddling too soon." Which is sometimes true, but usually if I'm vibing I'm totally fine with cuddles and heck maybe more... However I've found that if I tell men that I'm ok with cuddles then they think they have a right to it and become angry if I don't give it to them. So now I tell perspective dates that I'm not ok with it and I see how they react.

Why do people insist on associating a fashion whose entire point is to NOT be sexualized with sexual acts. Why. What do you gain besides a bunch of pissed off bow-wearers

As someone that's been stalked and in a public place having to deal with said stalker I honestly feel like that guy probably does his own boundary-breaking behavior and is looking for a way to excuse it in a public forum. I feel like people like that are so disconnected from reality that you can tell them to stop and they don't hear that. Just like gamergate guy had people tell him to stop and he completely ignored it.

Standing ovation for this one, Tyler. Appalling that you had to witness and address this, but you did so with both eloquence and fire.

I'm a man who was stalked by another man for a year. Not once when I told him to leave me alone did he ever stop. He wanted to hurt me and no matter how many times I took that stupid dude's advice and did what I thought would work, it never stopped. People really don't understand stalking
