I think the point is that Himmel didn't need the hero’s sword to validate him or what he wanted to do. Similarly, Stark didn't need his father's recognition to become a good warrior. Its one of the themes in the series not to let naysayers and setbacks hinder you but to strengthen your own conviction from adversity.

By defeating the demon king, the fake sword is the true hero's sword. Similarly, Himmel was the real hero and the sword was not worthy of him is what I like to think.

The reason why Stark didn't pull the sword was because he felt he wasn't worthy. He thinks that he's a coward, not someone who you can call a hero nor a warrior. That's why there was a short cut to the sword during his flashback. Validation and recognition certainly helps. But whether it be the feat of pulling a legendary sword or the acknowledgement from other people, at the end of the day, your actions are what determines you as a person.

They keep showing the sword. Stark said "I bet Himmel wouldn't have run " Which is what happened. Even after knowing he is not the "real hero" he kept on going despite the odds. The hero is the one who picks up the sword to kill the big bad. If you can't pick up the sword you are not the hero and you will fail at killing the big bad. To Himmel and some of crew, it was a suicide mission ( maybe not for Freiren and the dwarf but definitely Heither and Himmel who believe in the legend) Still, they didn't run. Kept on going and killed the demon king despite destiny not being on their side (supposedly)

This anime is one of the best anime that I have ever seen and I've been watching anime for 32 years . Anime itself is a masterpiece but the story and characters and every fucking dialogue is so meaningful and deep and there's meaning in evey each of small talk and and all this meaning serve the story to build the philosophy that author want to tell . Episode 11 and 12 was incredible. İn just one episode , anime just shows us a character that we know nothing about him and even frieren and other characters don't know a thing about this guy , but at the end of and 20 minutes episode , when he says goodbye to leave the story line We wished he would have stayed with the group. Introducing a character that the viewer will love or hate is a very difficult task in itself, but doing so in just a few minutes of an episode with just a few short dialogues is fantastic. The Japanese are currently the best in the world in storytelling and can tell the strangest and most impossible imaginations in the form of a story in such a way that the audience is eager to hear the whole story

The reason why Stark keep staring at sword is because he put himself and Himmel into comparison once he knew Himmel didn't pull out the sword. They both were same, one a faliure to the family one is a fake hero. And Himmel succced to become a real one but Stark ran away abandoned his family ( that's what he thought and it's not true). So stark has no confidence and don't consider himself a warrior.

I have to take a few things back from what I said about the production because it is not healthy but has a lot of talent that somehow carries it through with very good mangmant but very short schedules

I WANT to be legal, but I also am not willing to subscribe to Hulu or HiDive in addition to Amazon, Netflix and Crunchyroll so I Put On The Hat for shows like Undead Unluck and You Were Experienced and I'm Not.

I kinda wish it were a rabbit now
