Thanks Kent, In these times of inflation heading toward a new depression, your cooking has been a life saver, i am eating good, healthy food that satisfies me while being cheap, Do Americans have an American of the year award? If you do then you deserve one. Not a single person from any other country on earth (Even my own) has helped me as much this year as you have and you didn't even intend to, that's what i call the American spirit.

That sure looks and sounds like a good burger! I come from Sweden and we do not have the same burger traditions as you, but I still remember my grandma really making a ton of fried onions for our moose burgers. Your video made me remember that. Now, moose burgers get very dry so what she did was putting a LOT of butter on top of the patty and let it melt down into it. When the patties were finished, she´d put sliced onions in the pan and let them get soft from the after-heat. When eating, I´d say it wast 30/70 onions and meat. And cooked potatoes, since it is Sweden. No critique, just sharing lovely memories. Keep the burgers going! :D

My wife's eyes widened and she mumbled "oh my God this is good..".... But the best is when my 16 year old daughter took a few bites and didn't say anything and then put the burger down and said "Dad this is like a spiritual experience, this is the best burger you've ever made, can you make this for my friends when they come over?" After we finished supper I showed them the video that showed the childhood hamburger stand you used to go to and the story behind it. That made it even a better suppertime. Made this today, forgot to do the sauce, but that was the best burger I've ever made and I usually make great burgers. Used my cast iron pan. I used Aldi's Texas Smoke house Rub, Weber Lemon Pepper, onion powder with the W Sauce and hand mixed that. Then I put them on my buttered up pan, smashed them, then added a thin slice of butter on top cooked it, then added the onions, flipped the burger onto the onion. Smashed it again then cooked the cheese and bun on the burger. I used a brioche buns from Aldi. It was sofT, juiceY, and deliciouS!!!!

I'm from Oklahoma and have eaten this type of burger for over 60 years. The originals in Oklahoma slice their onions as thin as possible. While his recipe works, believe me you get more onions on the burger if they are sliced much thinner. I use a mandolin on it's thinnest setting.
