Man there's no way they would. A. Freedom Planet is not big enough in the slightest to colab. And B. Do you actually remember what happens in Freedom Planet's story. With what they have done in the first game and are going to continue with, that would be the complete opposite of what tone Sega wants to associate itself with for modern Sonic

@@MrRuePine To be fair, they could also get HARDLIGHT to add the four main heroines into _Sonic Dash_ and _Sonic Forces: Speed Battle_ as promotion. The _Sonic_ Movie events did credit Paramount Pictures, meaning that they were externally-licensed characters.

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS GAME. This may look like a Sonic clone but this puts many of the official titles to shame, easily the most overlooked game back in 2022.

This is the year of the dragon so perfect timing for this game to finally be released on Switch.

It feels like nearly ten years since I played the first game and have been wanting almost as long to see this come out.

You can tell that all the people saying that this looks like a sonic clone have never played a sonic game in their lives. The only thing this game has in common with sonic is the speed. Combat and mobility are very diffrent. its a brilliant game and more people should give it a shot.

It's bad enough people are attacking Pokemon fans because some bad Pokefans were attacking PalWorld and fans of it, so they felt justified attacking innocent Pokemon fans who didn't partake in the drama. I also wish people would stop trying to make two similar games compete, or use one to demonize the other. Nobody says "Anton Blast" or "Pizza Tower" should replace Wario.

Lilac was someone I wanted in Smash, even though I knew that wasn't going to happen. I thought this came out, like, four years ago. I started watching a playthrough a while ago. Now that I think about it, I need to finish that because this game's awesome.

Ikr? Just like their inspiration, Freedom Planet 1 and 2 has such catchy music.

All of this discourse about people saying "This looks just like Sonic!" just takes me back to when I tried asking Selen Tatsuki of NIJISANJI to check out _Freedom Planet_ during a Steam Sale livestream to help save this franchise from obscurity. Then, she and her chat kept joking about the game being "Not Sonic!" And now people are doing this again, as the moment Nintendo uploaded this trailer, so many people who never even heard of _Freedom Planet_ for the first time just backwards-long jump to the joke of "It's not Sonic!"

Having played both Freedom Planet games I think its obviously more than just a Sonic clone and I definitely think it stands on its own, but I'm not gonna fault people for making a surface level observation.

One of my favorite games of all time is finally hitting the Switch. I'm happy.

For those new to this game, although some Sonic 3 adjacent things exist in the earlier stages, this is the entry meant to distance the series from its Sonic/Gunstar Heroes inspirations as to give it more of its own identity, giving even more focus to the combat element, complete with a "Guard" parry system to promote a more aggressive playstyle and resulting in a lower skill floor but higher skill ceiling, so there's a lot more than meets the eye. It welcomes more playstyles than ever, calling it Sonic adjacent is only scratching the barrel of its appeal! Truly a legendary action platformer that has evolved to grace the 32-bit era, with a pretty decent (If verbose) story this time around!

Now that this game is bound to be released on consoles, it’ll hopefully garner more attention than it did back in 2022. As someone who played the first game, this sequel has outdone the original in every way, except for the soundtrack. Whilst it still delivers well on that part for sure, personally I’ll always favour the the OST of the prequel over this one.

Easily one of the best platformers of the past few years, highly reccomend if you're a fan of the genre

I played the first game a lot on the Wii U, it was one of my favorite indies, I remember how excited I was for the sequel when they announced it, it took a long time but it will be incredible to finally be able to play this on the Switch.

Probably worth mentioning here, this game's engine was originally designed by Christian Whitehead. So... if Sonic Superstars didn’t really do it for you because you wanted Sonic Mania 2 then this is basically the closest thing to that.

I feel lucky to own the Freedom Planet 1 limited run physical. I already pre-ordered FP2 digitally on Switch but will def. keep my eye out for this one possibly getting a physical too!

It actually came out on PC in 2022.

This game's lead producer, Sabrina DiDuro, used to keep a running tally at conventions on how many times people said that the _Freedom Planet_ series looks a lot like _Sonic._

Everyone who constantly says this is a rip off of sonic is a moron. This series started as a sonic fan game of course its gonna be similar its a incredible series that deserves respect. People act like inspiration from other franchises is automatically stealing or ripping off.

Tbh given the release of Palworld recently that kind of discussion is everywhere right now.

The first one is one of my favorite games ever. I know what I will be doing in April!

Imagine a universe where nobody saw Cuphead as being "Cuphead", and would constantly compare it to Mega-Man, refusing to let it have it's own identity and creating a false picture of Cuphead as a whole. That's what these annoying Sonic comparisons feel like.

Makes me think of Sonic meets Nights into dreams

Can't wait to buy this game again! easily one of my all-time favourites, and the only game I've gotten 100% achievements in.

Oh man I thought this was never gonna come out.

Its a masterpiece, let me tell ya. It stands equal with, if not surpassing some of the finest platformers ever made. $25 is a steal for a game of this quality and replay value. If you buy this game, you will not regret it

Looks awesome! I loved the first one, so I'm sure this will be great as well. I always love some good, fast-paced Sonic-like gameplay.

This looks great. The original is one of my favorite games. I'm glad they kept the same graphic style and didn't try to go hyper detailed.

After reading all of these comments, can someone please contact a SEGA Representative like Katie Chrzanowski or Morio Kishimoto to quell down all of these "It looks just like Sonic!" Crowds? This type of Sonic-inspired game isn't even bad in a legal sense. Get over it. This is just like when _Sonic the Hedgehog_ was introduced in 1991 and everyone feared it would replace _Super Mario._

I’ve been playing through this game and it’s peak so if you are curious about it please get it. It’s absolutely peak

I just finished the first game yesterday and played the demo for Freedom Planet 2. LOVE! THIS! GAME! SERIES! Can confirm that the gameplay from 2 (this game) is MUCH smoother, has optional difficulties/perks to make gameplay easier or harder (like an auto-guard and resource magnet), a blink ability to avoid damage temporarily, and a lot of new moves, hub locations, a world map, and 4 playable characters. HOWEVER, you must keep one thing in mind. Treat this as its own game. NOT another Sonic game. Freedom Planet throws a LOT of enemies at you, so don't fall back on too many habits from the Sonic games. Blaze your own path, look around if you get stuck and change characters if you need to. It's a fantastic series with fun bosses, unlockable abilities and some mean villains...but take it at your own pace and enjoy the ride. Hope GalaxyTrail makes a Freedom Planet 3 someday. And if the developers from GalaxyTrail every read this, I have to say this....THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

I just got Freedom Planent for about a week ago and this Camw out of no where, I am excited for itt.

Finally! It’s here!

If not for Xenoblade 3, this would have been my game of the year for 2022. Not only does it improve on just about everything from the original, it's also just one of the most solid speed platformers I've ever played. And the soundtrack is absurdly good. If you have even a passing interest in the game, give it a go, you won't be disappointed. GalaxyTrail did it again.
