FREE DIY ARCHERY TARGET BAG | Live and Let Fly Archery

--UPDATE--
We did it! Video link here: • Strongest DIY Archery ...
Congratulations Yu, you win an original PVC JimBow Jim bow!
--------------------
This video is episode 1 of our series: STUFF IT! Where we talk about tangible, physical, touchable archery stuff.
I think this is one of the best DIY targets on youtube. I wanted a portable target that was cheap, easy, and tough. The materials costs for my targets can be FREE, does not require special tools or skills to make, and we will test exactly how tough in a future video! We will shoot arrows until an arrow passes thorugh, or at the minimum penetrates deep enough for vanes to touch the target!
Stay tuned!
*******CONTEST*******
To kick off this Series we're holding a contest. Guess the number of arrows my DIY target bag can stop before one goes deep enough to touch the fletchings.Comment below to submit your guess. Closest guess wins a secret prize and the winner will be announced in a later video.
[*Shipping and handling may not be included, prize is secret because I totally haven't decided what the prize will be yet, Contest closes after winner reveal video is near completion, one winner will be chosen based on acuracy of entry, multiple comments are allowed. Price is right rules will be applied, chance of winning deoends on pool of participants, no purchase necessary, skill testing question required, all rights reserved, ]

I’ve used six layers of old carpet nailed to a frame only on the top . The carpet flexes when the arrow hits it , absorbs the energy . Lasts for a long time too .

Absolutely! The burlap's great for surving through the ages. The cardboard helps start set the shape in the right direction, but after hundred+ shots the face is almost gone :-P Check out my video where I stress test this bag to 406 shots to achieve a vanes-deep penetration. Working on a new vid comparing this durability to just latteral cardboard comoressed vertically!!! Glad you enioyed the vid! :-D

Excellent video from Jimmy the Bag Man, who knew !!! As to my guess as to which arrow will penetrate deep enough for the vanes to touch the target? So my answer would be , none of the arrows will be able to penetrate deep enough for the vanes to touch the target. From my observation I think that the back of the bag is too close to the fence , and therefore the arrow would have to go through the target bag, then proceed with some lost energy , through the fence, penetrating the fence deep enough to be able for vanes to touch the target .

  • @liveandletfly

    @liveandletfly

    3 жыл бұрын

Interesting observation! Please Note: safety is always #1. The bag has 1.5m clearence before the fence. and there is due care to ensure no person or animal is behind the fence at the time of any shooting! For the remainder of the tests the bag will be hung up in a garage for even greater safety :-D

  • @liveandletfly

Yup! It is crazy! But…as your not-a-lawyer giving you not-any-legal advice please ensure gaps in fence boards are not wider than diameter of arrows, and/or have a plywood backdrop, and/or do not high draw, and/or aim low so any miss shoots into the ground, and/9r ensure there are no people or animals on the other side of the fence, and or ensure you're shooting towards your own shed or garage or a structure you own or have permission to shoot towards, and/or examine and obey your local municipality bylaws!! Never shoot towards street/people/animals/other property without either a) permissiom AND safety assessment, or b) a really good lawyer… Safety first!

@@liveandletfly Hehe. It covers ppl that are part of Archery clubs, but we have to make sure the field has sufficient over shoot, warning signs etc. I guess many clubs couldn't afford it individually, so AGB must use the weight of all the hundreds of clubs as collective bargaining and price reduction? UK can be somewhat overzealous when it comes to pointy dangerous things lol. Saw that 'dodgy' release vid / shooting aid failure! Its a few years back now, but me (with my Longbow)and another guy with his 90lb compound bow @80 yards (metres ish) saw him miss and the arrow punched through nearly 3 inches of the solid pine target frame. The arrow shaft nearly went clean through baring a few cm's lol. I was always a little dismissive of the power of those things until I saw that :) You stay safe 🙏
