    When you buy after market parts just coat the bushings and boots with silicone a thin layer .....that will double the lifetime of the part

    These will work perfect for that! I'm getting ready to put up a video for WJ steering dampers that is a pretty cool free/cheap upgrade using the stock steering damper off of the JL/JT's as well. So if you haven't upgraded yet watch for it also!

    Hey Tyler! I just subbed and gave your vids a thumb up :) A couple questions- 1. Do you know if this mod would also work on a 93-98 JGCL ZJ? 2. It looks like your running wranger tj 255-75-R17 or 255-70-R18 tires and wheels? I am trying to budget or bastard lift a 95 ZJ and was given a set of 4 -18 inch wrangler unlimited sahara wheels and stock tires 255-70-R18. I dont know where to start been reading and my heads spinning. Rough country 3.5 or 4.5 short arm x series or OME 4.5 lift using front to rear spring swap. I need to gain clearance to get these wheels and tires to fit and not scrub? Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks man, I don't know off-hand if these will fit on a ZJ next time I am by one I will crawl under and take a look, I started with just a 2in rough country spacer lift with some fresh replacement springs and spring isolators that totaled about 3in of lift. I am currently using stock Jeep Wrangler JK 17in wheels with 255/70r17 on the street and 255/75r17 tires for when we go off-road.

    Tyler, how did you trim the metal sleeve? Did you push it to one side and use a saw or grinder?

  • @TylerPotter

    @TylerPotter

    I just used a hand held grinder and you trim the bushing and metal sleeve down until it will fit into the mount bracket on the axle

    This is a brilliant idea, but may I ask how the road handling of the vehicle is affected by the presence of a ball joint at the top of the sway bar links, in comparison to the way the truck handles with stock sway bar links that do not have a ball joint at the top end? Also, am I correct in understanding that this sway bar swap is adjustable because the ball joint articulates, as opposed to the stock sway bar links whose length is fixed due to the absence of that ball joint at the top end of the link? Given that my 2004 WJ Overland plies badly cratered roads most of the time, will the presence of that ball joint on the front sway bar links mean a smoother, quieter ride over pot-hole riddled surfaces? I've just spotted these 2019 rear sway bar links on sale online, and I am hoping to learn a bit more about how this setup contrasts with the stock sway bar link factory setup before I hit the buy button. Thanks for any clarification that you can offer.

    The JL sway bar links are not adjustable length. These should act just as a factory "new condition" link would. I was surprised to see the play or wear in my factory links when I removed them to install these. The new links should only help to tighten up the worn front suspension on our aging WJ's. Thanks for the view!

    @@riverbankfisher I wouldn't use a front or rear sway bar link that has a ball joint on a 99-04 WJ. Ball joints do not hold up for the life of a vehicle like stated in this video. I buy aftermarket Moog links for my Jeep that has a 3" lift from spacers. It only costs around $60 for all 4. But definitely buy rear + front sway bar bushings. I get Moog Rubber to reduce road feel. Polyurethane and Thermoplastic increases road feel but lasts longer and needs grease on them to prevent sounds.

    @@Bulletz4Breakfast13 These pointers are really appreciated, sir. I'd actually taken delivery of those sway bar links with ball joints, but was intending to install them when I overhaul the entire suspension shortly. Good thing I read your caution and this helpful mention about the Moog links with their dedicated rubber bushings that I will now investigate. Much obliged once again.

    Do you shave the metal sleeve on both sides of each link? What’s best to use to shave them down? Thank you!

  • @TylerPotter

    @TylerPotter

    Yes you will need to shave both sides down and just keep test fitting them until they fit. I use an air powered 3in grinder but a bench grinder would work also. Thanks for the view!
