Fraymakers shields remind me of Newgrounds Rumble shields. In Newgrounds Rumble you could only shield in front instead of covering your whole character like in Smash but you could also get punish if you hold it for too long or if the opponent kept on hitting your shield causing you to get hit in the process. But shielding in the air or if an opponent hit you in the air can cause a parry and if you parry then opponent is stunned.

iirc the devs said they pulled the shields from traditional fighters. prone to crossup but cannot be damaged. and to me, parry looks to be fundamentally a very punishable guard cancel

seems strange for a game which advertises assists so heavily as a defining feature you only get access to them maybe once a stock. i think it'd be more fun and impactful if they appeared more frequently, at least for the ones that are less powerful or underwhelming.

i see where youre coming from but it is still a platform fighter and turning the tide of the battle instantly with an assist seems very weird to me. my main consern about the game is either it being unintuitive for me or assist becoming the meta and if you dont use certain ones you always lose. one thing im wishing for is assist having an option to be disabled

​@@darksoulbg24 It is still a video game and it is about fun. You want them turned off... so view them like items from Smash but you earn them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Commandervideo's Down Special was supposed to reflect projectiles, considering it's a paddle. ...still looks like a delicious churro, though.

It does, but the issue is there are so few projectiles in the game. But I'm all for the Down B being a churro.

@@andy-opia4306 imagine assists being reflected if you use it like a parry, making it yours but if you miss you are in tons of endlag if the assist misses

5:38 i think the water bridge maybe have it wall less as a hazard or maybe you just need to get use to the stage more imo

Good to see that my Kickstarter pledge went to making quality churros

constant freezes does feel like rollback netcode, bad one maybe but rollback for sure, I won't be so hard on them since its just a testing version but I hope fixing that is a priority because rollback netcode feels better overall but suffers more from poor optimization, thanks for the introduction, seems promising

Honestly I thought that without walls, Orcane's recovery would've been near crippled, so hearing that the whaledog can live offstage is nice to know

Hey, fellow tester here. I enjoy the game but I have some gripes as well. 1st not many people tested single player but the AI is honestly Garbo. LVL9 AI is about at par with a LVL2 AI in smash bros. So at the moment this is definitely a game you have to play with someone and that can cause some people to not buy it because maybe their internet is bad or they just don't like playing online. 2nd pizza is not fine, he gives you entire stage control for free and is basically a free stock button. 3td and this is a personal opinion, I think octodad is top tier simply for his Nair that is really far reaching and combos into itself. Shielding? Nah it's going to hit behind it while he has the best shield Also Fraytools is out and haven't tested that yet, I have a few Characters for a future fighting game I'm planning on making and hope it'll be a great tool for that but I haven't settled down to look at it yet.

I hope fraymakers's popularity hasn't fallen off since the initial kickstarter. I'm kind of worried it's going to be the Run Away With Me of platform fighters.

If the popularity fall down, then I think the community will bring back the hype if they're good custom content, stream, KZread content, tournament, etc.

Hey I remember you from the discord! Playing has been super fun so far! Also I don't think people are giving Octodad enough credit as a character, the guy's a techchasing GOD. His attacks cover so many options making his advantage state super oppressive.

the ability to walk around while you're in shield limits the intent of allowing shields to be crossed up i feel, the mechanic feels better thought out in fraymakers

If you look at the assist description of commander video, his french fry move is supposed to be a reflector apparently

I can definitely feel SSF2 from this just by watching the gameplay. This game looks fun, and I would be interested in trying it out when it releases. I find it strange how Merchant Port doesn't have a wall, even though the original version from Rivals of Aether did have walls. Though, I'm sure they are not there due to the more 3D perspective on the stage, which was not really a thing in Rivals.

Ever since I saw fraymakers I've been waiting eagerly for it's release. Definitely will be there to play it on official release

Dude the freaking music is selling me on this game more than anything why is it all so got dang good???

assists can only activate when you deal damage instead of taking damage. if you find that to be a problem, get skill issued.

@@frankaxe6700 a similar idea I had was because mannequins are used to help people draw people poses, have a character that is a mannequin, and can enhanc any move by "drawing" it to make it stronger, with a time until it is ready (like it's being drawn as the match goes on) You would activate it by pressing down special and then doing a move. Depending on how powerful the enhanced move will be, it will take longer to draw You then use it by pressing down special They could have new effects, but keep the same idea Like a shove, that when enhanced blows a gust of wind with the push. It would obviously be done in the style octodad is in, but only when enhanced. Also, the moves wouldn't be all attacks, some would movements like waving. Ideas: f strong could be a swing with a stick, relatively fast speed, lower knockback than most. The upgraded version makes them a knight swing a sword, slightly bidding the speed, giving full armour, and being much stronger, taking about 30 to draw because it is so good ( only one drawing at once and then a cool down for the draw pad, probably ten seconds) I'll update it with more

What if shields could turn around without the need to drop it and turning around? Since it definitely looks way too easy to cross up and die for using the supposed defensive option, it would also look on par with other fighting games

I think for me.l, fraymakers will be my new platform fighter until rivals 2 comes out, then I will either slot it in with my main games or drop it entirely.

The Kickstarter ended almost two years ago, if you didn't back it in 2020 then you can't access the private build

Parrying in this game seems a lot better than the parry in smash ultimate and more like a sf3 parry where you can actually get a punish off it

They're looking to cater to casual players too, there's full mod support and down the pipeline they're adding stage hazards, items, chaotic match modifiers, and 1P game modes like targets

I got really excited when I saw the main character from Chicory in here, but then got a little sad when I saw they were just an assist. I absolutely love that game.

@@darienb1127 Animal Crossing has a thousand different items and mechanics to work with and Chicory kinda just has one. And R.O.B. has a unique body type that makes it easy to interpret original moves off of, Pizza doesn't really have anything like that.

Pizza's a sweetheart that just wants to help everyone else. As much as I would love to see playable dog in the roster, assisting others does seem like a better fit for them. I, too, absolutely love that game.
