Fr. Emmanuel Katongole, Ph.D. on "Fruit of the Earth and Work of Human Hands"

Fr. Emmanuel Katongole, Ph.D. offered the fifth in a six-part lecture series "The Only Solution is Love: The Eucharist and Catholic Social Teaching," which took place at the University of Notre Dame. This lecture series, developed by Michael Baxter, Ph.D., is sponsored by the McGrath Institute for Church Life, and co-sponsored by the Center for Social Concerns and the Department of Theology.
Her lecture "Fruit of the Earth and Work of Human Hands: Eucharist as (and) Integral Ecology" highlights the the connections between the Eucharist and ecology, showing that the Eucharist shapes Christian responsibility to care for Our Common Home. More than symbols, both the Eucharist and caring for Our Common Home are truly a sacrament (sign and reality) of God's love for the Earth. This dynamic relationship is fleshed out with examples from the Bethany Land Institute in Uganda.
