    @@TELEVISIONARCHIVES The irony is that he couldn’t do his act if he really was drunk. He just wouldn’t have been able to get the comedic timing down. He was also very creative in writing the material. I remember pundits talking about one half a person out of every 100 voters. 1968 was a very close election. But Foster brings that “analysis” to a new level with the crack about which half of a person voted for Nixon.

    Agreed about being a national treasure. But they're were many great comedians that could make others cry while laughing. First that comes to mind is Tim Conway. I mean, he made Harvey, not only cry while laughing, but also actually pee himself. Another great and funny comedian and national treasure

These were the "old " movie stars of that day, i would give anything to go back to those times, almost 50 years later now and everyone's gone. That's the circle of life, today I'm going to my grandsons birthday party. Enjoy your life, stop for a minute and soak in your happy times, like when the Roman's would March in after a conquest to a huge celebration, it was tradition to have a slave whispering to them that all glory is fleeting ...

    @@Rikkity True. What I'd read was that he quit drinking in the 1960's on a bet from a friend that he couldn't quit drinking and smoking. Apparently, Foster was so hard up for cash at the time that he took the bet and won and didn't drink again. That's just what I was able to find. Do you have any other info? I'm not challenging you. I just like to have my facts straight as well. In various clips from The Dean Martin Show, he played a drunk in a bar. At the end of the skit, he would stagger to the bar door, turn, look immediately sober and different, bow and walk out completely straight. Nonetheless, he was pretty incredible

    This was one of the best Foster Brooks roasts ever in my opinion, Dean was laughing through this whole skit. What I never realized was at the very end when Dean completely lost it, to the point he doubled over and was wiping the tears away from laughing so hard. After everything Foster farted... Too bad that was unknown to everyone, the audience would've lost it as well. These roast clips can bring me out from depression to laughing in just a few minutes. Foster was one of a kind, even drunks couldn't do it any better and more amazing than anything was he never drank a drop. If you haven't watched Foster destroy Dean himself, hubie the boobie(this one), johnny carson, jackie gleason, don rickles, lucille ball, rowan and martin, and my personal favorite jack benny. There are others but off the top of my head these are the best ones to me. So we all thank the comedy gods for these roasts.

    The Democrats have not had a real leader since John F. Kennedy. In fact JFK was a true American Hero. I am not a democrat or a republican ...I am an independent , and that means I have the capacity to think for myself. This is not the proper site to have a debate about politics. This is a site to get relief, so Google user ...why are you here spreading crap ? Don't you guys preach stop the hate? Hate is the only thing you are spewing here !

  • @darrinward8170

    @darrinward8170

    7 жыл бұрын

    I understand you're frustration...but you bring up a civil war so lets go over history a little bit. I would like to start by going over a speech given by a great president in my lifetime and I quote " The very word secrecy is repugnant in a free and open society. And we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies ...to secret oaths ...and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago... that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts... far outweigh the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today... there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today... there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation... if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger... that an announced need for increased security... will be ceased upon by those anxious to expand its meaning... to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. " John F Kennedy 1963 So what is JFK telling us here? He is trying to inform the populous about what we call today ( The New World Order ) John was fighting this back in 1963 and it cost him his life. In fact we would not be here to have this conversation had anyone but Kennedy been in office at that time. So let's talk about the race thing a little. Trump was never called a racist until he ran for office... in fact he was thanked by many black leaders for his treatment of African Americans. Now he is racist, fascist, and other sorts of things. So let us look at the Obama administration for a moment. I was in hopes that Obama would help bring the country together , but as a result of his policy, the racial tension clock has been turned back 50 years. I would know because I was around during the 1968 riots. Trump is not the one who caused racial tension in this country. Trump did not sell our missile secrets to China or our uranium core to Russia. We have Hillary to thank for that. Yet , Hillary is free when she should be on trail for high treason. So ask yourself this question... Do we wait for Kim Jung Un to perfect long range ICBM's ? A man who has said he will nuke Japan, South Korea , and the United States. Now Australia is in that group too. What Kim Jung Un has stated to the media is nothing short of a declaration of war. Our navy discovered that the remains of one of N. Korea's missiles indicated the staging of that missile used the same technology as China's , in other words it is our technology! We will have to deal with N.Korea one way or the other. So do we try and stop Kim Jung Un now, or wait until 30 to 50 missiles are launched at us from his shores to ours? There is a lot to think about, and you can forget about the main stream media telling you the truth... It is not going to happen! Donald Trump is fighting the same power that John F Kennedy was. I hope Trump can do what JFK could not. This is our country, not George Soros, the Rockefeller's, or the Rothschild's. You want to be angry...there is where you need to focus !

    Maxwell Smart I do so wish I could disagree with you, but sadly I fear you are right. Todays younger generation will never have the fun and enjoyment we had out of life back in those far simpler days...

    Boy, I've enjoyed watching all these comedian's. You start laughing before they even said a word.☺ They were truly gifted. Thank you so much for sharing these. God bless you.

    When members of the dais are laughing before you even say a word, you know you're a genius at what you do. Nobody plays a drunk better than Foster Brooks. Nobody!

    The way he carries himself he looks like he had 5 drinks to many. Plays the part so well. Probably his best act. We will never see someone plays this so well again. What an icon.
