FORGE MOTORSPORT INDUCTION KIT INSTALL! | MINI JCW F56

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I install the Forge Motorsport induction kit for Mini Cooper S F56 2.0 Turbo!
Made from lightweight yet super strong aluminium with beautifully and precisely machined shaped sections, it is very light weight, strong and really looks cool!
The last item I installed on my Mini JCW was the Forge Motorsport crossover pipe which is a straight through pipe, completely removing the restrictive resonator section with the purpose of freeing the air flow to the turbo while also being a quality of materials upgrade, being aluminium with a chunky silicone coupler that removed all the nasty plastic that came stock in the Mini F56.
This induction kit is the matching second half of the intake and of course it joins to the previously installed Forge Motorsport hard pipe upgrade (or will work with stock hard pipe) but also it matches the look and style, with the new insduction kit featuring the same aluminium construction and black crackle powdercoat finish. This gives a nice level of continuity as well as matching the quality and OEM+ look!
The F56 Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works (JCW) comes from the factory with a plastic air box with a thick paper panel air filter that is quite restrictive and has to be replaced regularly. This is OK but as you will see, the plastic nature of the airbox will not last the test of time so the Forge Motorsport replacement wins hands down in this area and the air filter is in a different league!
Made by Pipercross, who are a very highly regarded maker of performance filters, the filter is a large cone filter so gives a much higher overall surface area while also being a foam construction so thinner and higher flowing while still catching all the dirt you are trying to filter out. This gives performance gains and sound gains (before and after clips are near the end of the video)!
I show the full installation process from start to finish so if you want to do this mod, you can follow along!
All in all installation is not too difficult - actually pretty easy! Everything is easy to access in the engine bay, a basic toolset is all that is needed to complete the install, Forge Motorsport provide a full set of replacement hardware and everything fits together perfectly!
The MAF sensor section has a machined boss which is welded on that allows simple plug and play installation so all in all this install doesn’t take much time or effort at all!
I really like how this looks in the engine bay - a definite upgrade while still being reasonably subtle / classy looking - OEM plus one might say!
The sound is also a major upgrade - much more of a distinctive ‘whoosh’ which adds some extra fun drama and gives an indication of the new higher flowing nature of the upgraded intake!
Forge Motorsport say:
The intake itself features a bespoke aluminium heat shield, which doubles as a scoop to direct air from the cold air inlet on the slam panel, and it picks up on the stock mounting locations with rubber grommets to reduce vibration and noise.
Take a look at our video to see the dyno test results and an impressive 10 BHP gain.
The pipe to the filter is hand fabricated and features a precision machined MAF boss so that the cars original MAF can simply be bolted on to the new intake.
The filter is manufactured to Forge’s specifications by Pipercross.
- Washable and reusable design.
- Layered multi-density foam technology.
- Designed and manufactured in Great Britain.
- Improvement in engine power and torque with superior engine protection from dirt and dust ingress.
- Designed to flow stronger for longer.
Finally, the intake scoop and hard pipe are finished in hard-wearing crackle black powder coat to give an OEM style finish.
Fitting is very straightforward, requires no cutting or modification to the vehicle so it can easily be removed if needs be, and can be completed in 20-30 minutes.
Please note - the Pipercross filter is excluded from the Forge lifetime warranty

Awesome video and content Adam! Found it whilst researching intake options, I'm not keen on the Eventuri fluffy soundtrack but this Forge is great. This is an excellent installation guide, really appreciate you putting it together 😊

Got this and the Forge hard pipe too now my 2015 cooper S F56 pops a lot more in mid drive mode and the induction noise is loud I love what the two items have done to my car.

Looks great! I just put the Burger Motorsports intake on my Clubman JCW but was semi-disappointed that it wasn't much louder. Did the turbo inlet pipe from your last video + this make it much louder?

Great video im looking to order an intake my self, did you have any engine management lights or did you get your moter tuned?

No lights at all, straight plug and play install. I didn't get a tune but a tune would certainly make maximum use of the increased air flow

Fair play. So the logic there would probably be that you are able to get more air in per unit of time so will run leaner and so less likely to have unburnt fuel causing pops in the exhaust HOWEVER it is just an intake, not a big turbo or any kind of supercharger that would require additional intervention to provide more fuel. Modern day ECUs will use the MAF and MAP sensors to automatically adjust fuelling to achieve whatever target air/fuel ratio is defined in the map - that's all a long winded way of saying it won't affect your pops and bangs
