  • @tweedbean

    @tweedbean

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi I haven’t done this on the F56 but I have on previous gens. To remove you can use a plastic pry tool. I’ve used some heat from a hair dryer to gently warm/soften the glue then ran fishing line between the car and the badge to cut through the foam/glue. Be care with a pry tool as you don’t want to damage the bonnet. Remember the badges have two prongs on the back that locate it straight on the bonnet meaning if you are trying to debadge you will be left with two holes. Obviously if you are fitting a new badge this point doesn’t matter.

    I know I'm 2 years late to give this advice, but I would advise not to use a pry toot at all. Use a fishing line and the heat from a hair dryer. Because if you use a pry tool to pry up the emblem, then surely, then other end of the emblem is going to dig into the panel. Because the emblem is a solid plastic piece and only has so much flexibility.

    Any chance you know how sound the stage 1 type map on stock late 2018 Cooper S is to do? I have been considering that, but have also seen a fair bit online about B48 192bhp engines going bang after that mod (both in Mini and BMW cars) because pistons get damaged because of the map. But also i know MIni used to do a map mod on the pre 2018 cars when installing the Pro exhaust on Cooper S cars. I believe the Mini installed map was up to the Cooper S Works standard, so know this is likely to be OK in terms of bhp and torque increases, but am a not so confident that the sort of numbers i've seen for the like of Dervtech et al of 260bhp and near 50% extra torque would be wise for the engine. Any thoughts welcome 🙂 I should add that in digging around on this, i found that although the engines are the same block for the JCW and Coop S, the JCW engine has different pistons and components in other areas. I think it is assumed they are more similar than they actually are, hence my wanting to make sure i won't damage the engine by mapping.

    I ran my first cooper S F56 on a manic motorpsort map for a couple of years no problem. That was running 300bhp - 460nm torque, probably could do with a decent clutch long term to support it. That car is still going strong with its new owner

    Don’t forget the visuals too as the bonnet scoop looks great, that would cost you a few hundred pounds just for that in carbon from other manufacturers and for some people under the bonnet looking good is a selling point, not to everyone but to some. And it sounds epic. And it’s not losing hp which is a great start, mods aren’t just about adding performance to some people, there are other factors than hp gains. Each to their own
