Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Just showing you my rebuilt steering box on my Jubilee. It was a much needed job as most of the seals and bearings were done.

I rebuilt my steering on my 1950 8N it’s the same as the Jubilee and put the hood on and everything was great except I can’t steer sharp anymore so I’m going back to the drawing board maybe in August! It’s kinda a tricky thing to reassemble I found the earlier 8N was easier. But anyway looking good keep that old iron running!

I've got a 53 jubilee I noticed a lot of slack recently in the gearbox and a minor leak from the left side shaft. Guess I'm gonna pull it off and do the same. Thanks!

Oh yeah a gearbox rebuild will solve those problems. It will probably make it feel like it has power steering lol, mine certainly does. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm wondering if you had any difficulty matching your hood to the instrument panel ? The master parts catalogue shows the fill plug forward consequently the side mount bolts would be offset aft. Most importantly was there any other grommet for the instrument panel other than the one that slides over the top of the column ? Mine is also a 53 #34312.

Yes filling plug should be towards engine. I haven’t got to put the hood back on yet I hope I don’t have any trouble. The only grommet I have is the one over the steering column and one for the throttle on the instrument panel. Let me know how you get on with it!

@@jactor7274 Been working on mine for 11 years already. Four years lost just waiting for the engine machining to get done. Yesterday's Tractors Forum is a fair place to search archive regarding just about anything Jubilee, and a few will answer questions you might have. Only ~129K NAA's built so info is kind of scarce. Compare to 8N 524K built. I'd be happy to offer any help you may need, and bore you with my trials as well. What's your serial number ? LH forward block or LH bell housing by starter.

@@williamokrasinski9840 Oh great! Yes hopefully I can get mine fully restored at some point. It's actually just been put on a trailer and hauled across the country because we are moving, but as soon as I get to it ill look at the serial number. Thanks!

Who do you use for parts sources like for bearings and gaskets, O-Rings and how do you know how to get the correct sizes? Thanks!

Mostly I use Steiner tractor parts, my local new holland dealership, fixthatford.com. For bearings I usually go to my local bearing /machine shop they are able to match the part numbers. O rings I just buy them in bulk from Amazon and just match them up

Hi! I'm rebuilding my steering box on my 1958 641. I ordered the steering sector hardware and seal kit from Steiner, but I'm not sure how the seal goes in. Do you have an email where I can send you pictures for help? Thanks, Kasey

Hey thanks for your comment. I highly recommend getting a shop manual for your tractor they are very helpful and show you exactly the breakdown of the steering box and exactly where each component goes. You will also need it to help you align the steering sectors. If you have any more questions just give me a shout

How did you remove the large lower bearing race from the base of the steering tube?

  • @jactor7274

I actually don’t think I did since the bearing looked in good condition like new almost. My guess is someone once rebuilt mine before. Sorry that doesn’t help much

@@jactor7274 Yes. You did as others here on YT have done: You left the bearing race at the very bottom of the steering gear case in because it is at the very bottom and always still gets lubricant and so does not deteriorate like the other bearings higher up. You did (said you did and showed it in the video) replace but not show how the large bearing race at the bottom of the steering column tube. That is difficult because unlike a wheel bearing there is not cut out behind the bearing seat to put a drift and drift out the race. So I was wondering how you removed it from the blind hole it is in at the bottom of the steering shaft tube. Mine is toast and needs to be replaced. Thank you for your responses and excellent videos. I have learned a great deal from you.

Oh ok yes I have a special bearing race puller it’s like an angled hook and I was able to get it in down there but it was a struggle
