Steering us in the right direction with this video Ross
Oh the adventures of rusty fasteners !!! Once things started moving, a little progress was easier to make.
Watched it all the way through -- love the GOOD NEWS at the end!!! You will have all the parts and have it back together in no time. My Great Uncle Claude Bruner bought, restored and sold old Ford tractors when I was a kid. He lived in Daylight, IN and had a couple of guys who helped him. When he died, he had the largest inventory of old Ford tractor parts in a several state area. Before they had the auction, the auction company advertised this inventory with a space advertisement in the Wall Street Journal. I was living in Washington, DC at the time and saw the ad in the paper. Unfortunately, they were unable to sell all these parts in one felled swoop and consequently, they sold them at auction and they only brought about 10 cents on the dollar. My Aunt Minnie Lee just took it in stride, she was a very devout Christian lady. I have always loved these old tractors, you still see them out in the country, sitting in people's front yards for sale. I would really love to see you restore this tractor like you did your grandpa's John Deere and that Oliver Super 77 you featured in another video before the fair last summer. That grease fitting idea is a good one!
Good video thanks for your time enjoyed much
I had to do that same job on my 1955 Ferguson 35, also the first tractor I drove. I had to saw the old steering wheel off the post. When you put yours back together add a large washer under that cap nut, maybe so large you can bend it down between the wheel spokes and act like a little rain hat. Otherwise water finds its way into those bearings again.
Haven’t worked on very many ford tractors, good video keep them coming.
Nice video Ross. Henry could have made that dash come apart alot easier I think. Those are a pain. 👍👍👍👍👍
Warm out Ross back at it.
Another interesting video Ross. Looks like I will have another project this spring on my old 8N. Great info. Thanks for sharing.
Ya, old Henry liked those traped nuts and fine thread bolts on them😢 l was a youngster when my dad and I painted a 800 one summer. About 1977, I was eleven.
Awesome 1st tractor and Awesome project
Another good informative video.
Nice interesting video Ross. I enjoyed it.
Ross, use a steer knuckle puller, will work much betterer for ya. A pickle fork will work on the sectors as well, just be careful when tapping it in. My grand dad on his old Ford 881 SoS, he would "over fill" the steering box purposely. The steering system on all these old Fords are all the same with the exception of the power steering units. Those had the lines going to and from the steering box which provided the lubrication needed inside the steering box. Yes, he'd fill with oil, then pump the box full of grease since grease over time will break down into a liquid form. Man, I miss these old Fords, they were awesome to run. Great video as always, cheers :)
I think you may need to put that magnetic tray on the ground under the tractor:)! Nice Serial killer hoodie by the way! Ha!
Fun video
That's interesting I'm really curious to see how all that goes back together
Ross, I really like that platform thing you've got on the back of this tractor. Could we get a little more detail on that? I'd like to build something similar to haul equipment or nieces and nephews with.
Oboy, old tractor repair's in the cold is the most bestest thing I like to watch, I was beginning to think you'd need to take the head of the engine to get to the steering shaft on this one😅😅 thanks for the entertaining video. How many repairs does this make that you've started and never finished 🤔 I know I've lost count...but then again math was never my strong point 🤣🤣🤣
Animal sounds and a Ford tractor, I am sure that’s never happened before 😂
Enjoyed you taking us along. As you probably know by now the inner race of that top barrel bearing is machined into the worm shaft, and 90% of the time the shaft will need to be replaced to make it steer properly again. If your sector shaft seal surfaces and bushings are good it will hold 90w oil. Stay warm!
Those nuts in a sheet metal cage are called cage nuts, ha ha!
Ross, looks like the rust is working against you🤣🤣 thanks Michael
Hey bud trailer peppermint oil and cotton balls drum around in there and put them by your tractor trust me it works and it's cheap and it works better than anything they have out there mothballs do not work you can never get your legs spread far enough apart😊 cotton balls around here with peppermint oil
It's hard working outside in the winter
Yeah in the end I figure I'm just as far ahead to dismantle everything if for no other reason than I just don't have to fight so much to get something apart.
Ross I worked with a women (she was an accountant at work) doing inventory and making a mess of it and we kind of got on her about it and she said " Hay I only had one active brain cell left and the baby took it, So back off ! " Well she admitted so who was I to argue ? LOL Bandit
Wishing you luck on getting the shims adjusted on the steering shaft and all of the gears aligned properly. Hope the gears on the output arms are not center worn causing excessive steering freeplay. Ain't the warmer weather great. The only problem in the rains is that the top 2" of the ground turned into a mudslide and the rainwater just runs off into the ditches. So, we remain in a moderate drought condition as the moisture does not make its way down into where the seeds will need to reach moisture. The drainage ditch running through our place, well, it is running when all of that water should be soaking in.
I'm sure glad you don't really believe you're dumb, lol. Maybe I'm dumber than you are because I think you are pretty smart, lol. It was fun to watch either way, lol. Thanks for sharing. I'll see you later. 😂
Got fix pull string snapped off again and fix carb arm or so fix steering cup and steering connector s fuel line exust bracket
beeswax and just alittle heat and then the puller
Ross I think the oliver 55 bearings can be the samething for that
I'm guessing the first time steering wheels been off
I really feel there was room for a handyman jack in the equation somewhere see
JB weld
😄😄😄👍👍👍👍

You can check Steiner's. I got one for my 4020 still in the box. I'll be putting it on when I do the overhaul on the steering valve. My Super 77 diesel could use a fresh one as well.
Still got 7 things fix on nitro RC cars truck all ways something
If you have more than 1 of kinda like the same thing 1 will be easy and the other one will be more difficult

Thanks for the info I'll do just that
Whatch a mee ,
So, if you did this when you were a kid, did it have a repair manual that said, "Even a 10 year old can do it!)..I think that's what made it somewhat challenging for you - you're not 10 any more. Maybe you can find a 10 year old to help you. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
