    I had both, traded my STI away, kept the RS. Loved the steering and Rawness of the STI. I felt confident in handling the STI because it was very predictable. Hated not having low end torque when DD. Hated the rough ride during DD. The RS is fun, love having hatchback again. Love the seats. Love the infotainment system. It's unpredictable when in drift mode lol which is a plus and minus. The ride is a hairline better than the STI when dampeners aren't on sport. Love the low end torque. Both vehicles have that hit 4k and boost kicks in feeling. The RS just happens to have low end also. There are only about 37,000 (maybe less) RS's rolling around vs Lord knows STI's. Both are great cars though. Would love to see one of you get a type r 😳 and do this race. I think the R is an interesting vehicle.

    Good info, only driven a modded wrx that was actually almost as quick as the stock rs .. you gotta insta or anything? I liked the Subaru it just felt so lightweight to the point it didn't feel sturdy almost if that makes sense but that's only a couple miles feedback. The RS is amazing driver I can only imagine if you'd spend 800 a tire for pilot sport cup 2 or if it's worth it lol

    The point of riding the clutch for a little bit does two things… It loads the suspension and during that time it gives the engine about a second and a half to build Boost at that point you can just release the clutch the rest of the way. If you launch a WRX the correct way you’ll be choking on your Adam’s apple. The only way you can dump a clutch on a WRX as you have to redline it but those engines have the tendency of breaking timing belts when you do that which will result in a complete engine re-build because those engines are interference engines, they are not non-interference.

    STI’s don’t hit peak boost till 4,500, while the Focus rs does it at about 3,000. The sti owner started in 3rd on the first run, so he didn’t have much power. Aka, got gapped. Both cars are very fast. Ford didn’t lie about their numbers, but Subaru understates their numbers by a decent margin

    STi's are nice cars...but not worth the cost over even a nicely modded Focus ST. I've pretty easily walked a few FBO and tuned STi's in my 2016 FBO E30 Focus ST getting onto the highway or even roll races. They are heavy..the hatchback WRX's are what made me love the hatch in the first place years ago..but the Focus just looks better, costs less, and can be faster for much less. Even if you do spend the dough to make an STi faster, its expensive and repairs arent cheap. The stock clutch on the Focus ST can handle far more than the stock turbo can put out..even 400fwhp ST's run the factory clutch without issues. Both of those are nice cars, its a complete matter of preference..nothing else. And..driver mod, obviously ^_^

  • @the_professor5838

    @the_professor5838

    Im sorry to disagree but I do. I have a FBO E30 ST, a FBO E30 RS, and a FBO E85 Flex Fuel STI. Out of all 3, the STI takes it day after day. Id say I'd agree that the ST is a great option to buy and mod in terms of its price but I also had a FBO WRX and I liked that more than the ST. To be completely honest, the AWD of a subaru is no joke (AWD in most cars is far superior than a rwd for digs anyways). In a dig the STI pulls far ahead of the RS even if the STI is on 91 and the RS is on E30.

  • @the_professor5838

    @the_professor5838

    Its also important to mention is for does something to their engines to make them pull like a mf top end XD. The ST will wheel spin even a little at 40 which I just don't see as acceptable but then it reels it back in once your on it. For price, the ST is probably the fastest little thing you can get with all the headroom you could want to modify.

    STI with a Cobb Stage 2 tune, intake, and turboback exhaust will be about even if not a hair ahead of a stock RS. It’s best chance in this race was a dig with a high rpm perfectly slipped clutch launch. Also, RS stock intake and exhaust are already free flowing so adding flow hardware on the RS is moot maybe even detrimental without a tune.

I get a lot of thumbs up for it. . As stock cars, the STI doesn't have the torque, no where near the torque of the RS. The hp to the wheels is close. .
