"like a racecar setup" complains about RS suspension.
There's just something about a Subaru that's very special... idk how to explain it... but the Subi community all feels it and we are all friendly and supportive of each other. If you don't know what I am talking about... then that's cool man, get whatever car you want, just do you, no hate.
I like subaru's, but good grief this guy is biased.

I like that he was equally enthusiastic about both cars. A lot of reviewers, you can usually tell which one they favor.
I'm going to go back to a quote from an older video of a review on the evo X vs the sti: your head will reach for the evo keys but your heart reaches for the sti keys Basically Subaru has an amazing driver experience even though it's not the fastest in the class. It's just a fun ass car
RS brand new starts at 36k which depending on where you live and the financing options comes out to about 40k. Some car dealerships are jacking up prices because of the unavailability unfortunate but true. The STI starts off at just below 36k and the same goes for it as far as financing. I just picked up my RS and absolutely love it. As far as engine noise from inside the cabin yes some noise does come from the speakers but it is still real engine noise it is just amplified and the fact that it pops and burbles out of the box is priceless and addicting to hear. ALSO THE STI ISN'T EVEN A HATCHBACK ANYMORE!!! Both have an amazing looking exterior but the STI does have the RS beat when it comes to the interior.
The hockey comparison made my day, I own the exact same Sti in the vid.
I currently own an STI, before owning my 2016 I came from a ST focus. At the time I bought ST because I had always loved the RS over seas and always wanted one. Now that we have it here in the states I'm having a hard time making that leap, mainly because the interior is the same as the ST I really think they need to go a little more full on race car with it. Either way I respect the heck out of the RS but love my STI too much to part ways with it just yet.
Awesome review, so much passion, thanks
I have a 2017 STI and I have to say its an amazing car! And I have heard Ford has had some reliability issues on the RS already if you look at the forums.
Great review! Got a new subscriber here.
great video helped me a lot.
I've decided I'm going to save up and get one of these. Still haven't decided which yet. I'm leaning more towards Scooby.
Took down a new WRX STI this morning in my 2017 RS.

I want a Focus RS really bad but it's a limited edition thing so replacement parts will be hard to find and by the time I get my license all the RS'S will either be riced, Stanced, or wrecked, whereas the STI is an ongoing model so parts are easier to find and because I prefer a sedan form over hatchback
Great review!!!
this guy did a great job with the review
wow really enjoined your video.. not biased at all
when i first saw the rs and heard it take off i wanted one
Cobb launch control is awesome on the STI till your you have oil blowback and your rings fail and misfire.
I'm leaning towards the RS but is it mod friendly like the STI? And does Ford have any reliablity issues? I appreciate answers
Is the RS really smaller? I love the room in the WRX, just enough. Me and my wife up front and a big child seat in the back, I could also fit a large tri-stroller in the trunk.
Great comparison!
Didn't even talk about the transmissions and how they shift...makes me sad. After a civic Si, which feels so good that's become an important thing for me (in daily driving)
He says the RS is more of a daily driver, and liveable. But its also faster? That makes it better right?
STI fan boy for sure. He knew the ST is far better, just couldn't choose it against he's favorite. But a great review none the less. 🖒
Nice review.
I have a 2016 sti with 20k miles. Change my oil every 3-4K with other regular maintenance. Never had a problem, not one, and I hoon a bit. People say sti engines are unreliable when in fact it's the other way around. They are very reliable when you take care of them. Kids that buy these cars and hit the streets abusing them without maintaining them find out the hard way and then bash the car when they get ring land failure . My buddy has a 06 sti all stock never touched and is his daily. Never had a single problem since he bought it in 05.
Love the hockey analogy.
I'm straight and I love this guy's voice lol .
i love my rs. so much fun. i just need to learn how to drive it to its fullest potential. if you see a nitrous blue rs driving around san francisco its probably me. thats another great thing about this car...atleast where im at in the bay area. i dont see any rs on the road. which i love because it makes me feel a bit more "rare" i guess? sti's are a dime a dozen here...plus the hatch comes in handy
Yes. You do a good job.
That shift knob on the rs looks like the pep boys special.
Why are you laying into it at 2K RPM -__-
you're not annoying or obnoxious. just aim your camera so that we dont see the camera in the paint! great video
Subaru needs to bring back the Hatch Back. I have an WRX and love the car, but would like a little extra room in the back for when i go camping.
The main difference between Subaru and Ford is fucking reliability. Subarus tend to be able to do more than 300k miles on them with a little bit of care. But my Ford died after 90k ...

It was a Focus diesel and piece for piece, the emission control died. After repairing everything, the turbocharger wrecked also. So I sold the car for 1k. And swore, not to buy a Ford again. Like Never.

I've owned many Ford's with 209k miles or more. current fusion sitting at 118k no problems. don't blame a company for lack of maintenance or possible mechanic sabotage

I maintenanced it properly (did all the oil changes in time, used good oil, had an all-around check every year, didn't wait if something was occuring etc.), didn't kick it when cold and drove mainly longer distances. So I don't get the point, where I should have done anything wrong. I mean I don't give a fuck. Propably it was only my car, but I won't run a risk buying another Ford.
Great video
What changes are coming to the STi in 2018?
driving the STI in Minnesota must suck. Here in So Cal we have loads of twisty canyon roads and the car is justified.
In the reliability department, Subaru is WORLDS ahead of Ford (As it is with all foreign vs US-made brands.) Performance also goes to Subaru. The Ford might be faster in a straight line, but I guarantee that if you put them on the track that the STI would take the win. Aesthetically, it's personal preference. Both of them can fit 5 people, both have the potential to be good daily drivers, aside from the Subaru's bad mileage. It's really a battle over preference. I'd take a Subaru cause I know it would most likely last longer and I don't care for it's track potential. I just like the fact that it's a 300 hp manual monster.
Could someone explain to me how a hatchback seems smaller than a sedan?
Huge on import. But I might go for focus on here
Which is easier to fix? Cheaper part? More reliable? That's the one you should get.
Thanks for the help but not really... still dont know which to buy lol
whats the color on that Ford? Looks amazing..
If you have a 15+ sti replay to me. it be nice to have soneone to ask options and shit with
Rs2 does not add wheels. It adds power and heated seats and steering wheel. As well as upgraded interior seats.
why wouldn't the STI have push button start? Why is it all subarus charge a lot for less features?
Focus is bouncy because he has it in sport mode! Im sorry i like the sti better just because i havent jumped on RS but the fact is that from the moment he got on the sti i knew that he was leaning towards the subaru... he spoke so much crap about the RS while he was on the subi that already i knew where he was going!! U didnt have to pick one at the end... we all knee who you where going for!
Say "ton" "fun" and "ton of fun" a few more times and this video would be gold.
I like STI more than RS, but that paint on the RS... love it.
As a HUGE Subie fanboy, I must say there's almost no way the STi can compete with the Focus RS. Strip away the opinion and the badges on the cars (which is definitely why this reviewer loves the subie so much), and the Focus blows away the STi. The Focus cutting edge technology, all new everything. The Subie is basically on the same platform as the ones in 2008. I see the STi as special and I love it more, but it's not a better car. The RS has a better interior, it's more comfortable (by a lot), and most importantly, it is faster both in a straight line and around bends. I'd still buy the STi, but not because it's the better car, but because of my personal feelings

Yeah, but not for 10 grand more. That's dollar difference between the two cars here in southwest PA. So I have to make a decision... Focus RS or an STi plus a trip to Greece, a set of winter wheels, 5 pairs of custom made pants, have my house repainted and a put a new roof on my mom's house?
These reviews have been really great to hear. Unbiased and seems to be honest with his opinions. Thank you!

ak15 ar47 while I love the exterior of the RS more than the STI, the interior is too busy on the RS. The dash and infotainment system feel distracting. The Sti's interior is a much cleaner look.

Did I just hear something about the ringland failure? and same ol 10 year engine?
I seriously can't choose I bought a st for now I love the Rs but I'm worried about the block issues the Rs is cheaper and more fun but i love the sti I've owned a my99 wrx and love the current model sti with the boxer engine old but proven and sounds great I wish it had more tech like Subaru eye sight and apple car play

elmin2323 the 17 does have eyesight and carplay. But the rs is 50k the sti is 30ish new
the sti's interior feels more like a racecar? it's based on an econobox...
Seems like we can never have a comparison without the in fighting. I've owned 3 Subaru's an XT, WRX and currently an Outback. They're great cars for the money if purchased for their suited task. I've also had a Ford Escort RS2000 while I lived in Italy. An amazing car, especially when you consider how much I paid for it and how rock solid reliable it was. I'm glad Ford USA decided to bring this gem here. It is necessary for the market segment to have competition. When the EVO was discontinued the WRX/STI lost its edge. As a result moto journalist began comparing interiors with VW Golf's. The STI team at the risk of a pun has lost focus on what made them such interesting cars. While I still like the current WRX/STI, it is undeniable that it's exterior design is sedate. Like a Toyota Corolla with a completely vestigial awful rear wing. Also the top mount inter cooler really should be front mount by now.
I fell in love with a Subaru since I was born
Well done with this video
their both awesome!
What color is that in the Ford. Name code please.
nice video!i just need to make 40k to buy the rs -_- but once i have that much saved, i'd be looking at used sportscars probably
Some footage of the cars would have been handy, in a car review.
Dat primer gloss grey tho!

I still prefer the mk2 5 cylinder RS, it looks better, as sound a lot better, my dad has one that has been modded to 400bhp
4 doors... Both would be great for trips to the grocery store or taking kids to soccer practice.
Focus RS is my Fav car ever i want it in the future with a cool wrap. It just looks better than the ST in mh opinion and thats what matters to me rn
ugh what is the sti's digital speed gauge? thats terrible
It's not electric blue but that stealth grey is the realest.
anybody else notice he opens his music and alt j pops up? standard subi owner 😂.
when the stock power to the wheels is actually 180 from factory lol time to tune
"I do almost like this interior more"? So you prefer the RS interior? I don't follow what you're trying to say here...
Hey you are a very nice dude and you made a very nice video but please forget about the "race car" thing. These are nice road-going cars very fun to drive on the road but keep competition out of that conversation. Just to give you a hint a proper rally car (like the Fiesta WRC) costs about $200 *per mile* to operate :-)
As a former 555 owner I'll take the RS.
Is this Morrie's Luxury Auto in miniapolis?
I just wish we could've got the original European Focus RS when they first launched like 10 years ago. These new ones don't live up in my opinion.
I have an sti i like as a daily driver
I wish Subaru still made WRX and STi in hatch, damn it!
"that's like choosing your favorite child" - Jeremy Clarkson on top gear reviews.
cool i like it
I bought my Frozen White RS from Morries.
I think if you mildly mod both cars and use same tires they are going to be roughly equal with the same driver. C&D tested and the RS barely beats the STI in those tests. On the wet slippery surfaces the STI will win given a true mechanical rear diff and better AWD system you can't mimick that a front biased computer diff in the RS. The VW Golf R loses badly to the STI on a wet track but beats it on a dry day.
The STI has more of a race feel to it and and is a normal car to drive each day .The RS has a race feel AND a normal car to drive each day also! For me,it's to hard to choose!
I still like the STI exhaust on idle! Stay Safe everyone.
As a Detroit fan I wish you didn't compare the focus to Crosby 😂
Don't get me wrong, I love both cars but IMO I prefer the focus RS because it is more powerful, easier to drive, better fuel economy, and it is a little prettier.
What song is this?
I don't just like STI's, but a variety of Subaru's, but damn dude you be swinging on then nuts hard lol.
STI for sure. Better visibility and better looking car. Sitting in driver or passenger seat, you have more room. The Focus center is too busy and in your face. If you care about tech, get a WRX Limited fully loaded. Put the money you saved from buying a STI and it will be faster than the RS or STI.
Before I watched I thought it was Ford Focus RS VS Ford Focus ST
@alliyahmohamed9783

Claude Dottin If it was that video,i would've taken the RS
The ford doesn't have a lot of room it seems. Interior or the engine bay.
wats better RS or STI comment belowl!!
So, I get from this comparison, that the STI has better room, dash design and exhaust tone.
The ford only wins cause of the torque. Ford knows how to do that I give them that.
Wait until the 2018 wrx comes out.
Race car setup LMFAO I CAN'T just stop
Prefers the STI interior to the RS's? lol
STI is 305 hp at the crank not to the wheels, it's more like 230hp to the wheels.
RS all the way.
