Ford Focus 2007 | Water Leak Boot Hinges |

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

💧 Here we have a Ford Focus at New Again with a rain water leak problem this is another common fault due to the age of the car when the car is flexing it can open up welds and under further investigation it has had repair work done due to an accident to the rear of the car. But sometimes it can just be a tiny bit of flexing when going round corners and roundabouts.
Solution: Our solution will be to remove old sealant, prime and reseal welds.
This is just one of several common problems on the Ford Focus which causes rain water leaks into the boot. We have another video which shows the problem with the rear vents behind the bumper:

The videos shown on this channel are taken from inspection reports, filmed for the customer who has paid for a diagnostic inspection, which comes with a video report. We share them here for informational purposes because the hardest part of fixing leaky cars is finding the leak.
After the initial inspection, if the customer agrees to have the work done, we film progress reports for the customer and will sometimes include them here.
----------------------------------------
F E Q U E N T L Y A S K E D Q U E S T I O N S
Q: How much does it cost?
A: We don't know. That's why we do a diagnostic inspection. We cannot answer the question of how much it costs to fix before we know the extent of the problem. Prices for our inspection and hourly rates can be found on our website.
Q: Why don't you show us how to fix it?
A: This isn't a DIY channel, we are sharing videos we take for the customer as part of our inspection process. Furthermore, the vast majority of the fixes are simple, and if you need to ask how to fix them, you probably should let a professional deal with it. See below:
⚠️ C A U T I O N ⚠️
⚡ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.
💥 Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain airbags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.
☣️ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.

If you dont show how to fix what is the point in this video?? This is a major common fault with ford focus, so stop trying to be money grabbers and show people how to fix and just for the record if thats your attitude towards people about not showing them how to fix it please tell us where you are based and what company it is so we can all avoid you!!!

The point of this video, and the many others we have made on water leaks in cars is to keep a record of where leaks are. You are able to watch this video because one of our customers paid for it to be made. They came to us and bought a water leak inspection, part of which involves a written report and a video report. This video was made as part of our standard procedure as a record. We could just keep these video reports to ourselves, but instead we have decided to share them with the public, so everyone can use them as reference. Finding the leaks is the hard part, fixing them is straightforward for anyone qualified to do so. You may have noticed that we don't ask you smash that like button, we don't ask you to subscribe, we don't have a Patreon, and we don't run ads on these videos. And James, who is in this video has no aspirations to become a KZread celebrity, in fact he doesn't really like being on camera. We don't make any money out of putting these videos on KZread. So there is no money to pay for filming, editing and uploading videos of us repairing leaks. We are a company that fixes cars, as it says there at the top, "Auto Reconditioning", "We make cars like new again". New Again is the name of the company, that's what we do, that's how we make a living. We aren't here to win KZread. The only people subscribing to our channel are car mechanics, and most of them seem to be in India. Another reason we don't show how to fix the leaks on these videos, is we don't always fix the leaks. At the stage these videos are filmed, the customer has paid for an inspection and no more. Sometimes they only want us to find the leaks, they plan to fix them themselves, take them to their local garage or dealership, or maybe the car needs to be fixed at a windscreen company or body shop. Sometimes it's not economically viable to repair the leak. And a third reason we don't make videos on how to fix the leaks is because our legal team have advised us that we should tell people what WE DO to fix the leak, but not make videos instructing people how to fix leaks because that would open us up to liabilities. Cars with leaks tend to have electricals issues; as you can imagine water and electricity don't mix. This can also be seriously dangerous, especially with hybrid and electric cars. Fixing many of the leaks involve accessing panels where airbags are located, which are explosive, there are also issues over black mould. Working on cars with water leaks is best left to people who are at least fairly competent at working on cars, and if you are fairly competent, the description section of these videos should provide you with enough information. If we say, "replace the door membranes" and you don't know what a door membrane is, you probably shouldn't be mucking about in there with the electrics and airbag units. Besides all this, we do try to answer all questions we get, and I hope this explanation has fully answered the question, "what is the point of this video". We also have a few videos offering advice on how to dry cars, how to take a leaky car back to the dealer you got it from, how to deal with windscreen companies, insurance companies and the economic viability of cars etc. And we plan to make some more videos in the future when we get time. We are based in Chelmsford in Essex.

For anyone else still having water leaking after trying this, check under the plastic roof runners, pull the end up and there will be a crack under it, i sealed the mine with silicone then stuck the plastic back down with more silicone, did this 2 years ago and haven’t hand any water since 👍

was this causing the rear footwell to flood? cus thats the issue i am having

Heads up for another issue. The caps that cover the roof bars/roof rack mounts. I have recently purchased 2x focus and both had this issue. Car previously must have had roof bars that had been removed before I purchased the vehicles. Factory they have a sealant that goes in the hole where the bolts go through that needs picking out. Obviously if bars are removed you need to reseal this hole.

I have a 2012 focus with water leaking into the hatch compartment and wheel well and it seems to leak from a small hole in the rear Quarter panel in hatch area on drivers side and when hosing on the roof along the roof mount cap drain strip. I also had to drain water from the drain plugs under the car with soaking wet sound deadening material. a body shop I went to had a look but couldn't get the bottom of the problem leaving me with having to get further investigation done at a mechanic shop when I can get it booked in

There are half a dozen cars that suffer this issue, not all of them Fords. It's certainly not uncommon, and we have seen this on several Focus's. I would think there's a pretty high chance if it isn't the rear air vents. Check out play-list for other Focus issues. #fordfocusleaks

These videos are part of our company's internal system, a database of where to find leaks. These videos are also shared with the customer as part of a video report so they can decide how to proceed. At the stage where we film these videos, the customer has hired us to find the leak, they may not hire us to repair it, therefore filming the repair is beyond the scope of what we are trying to achieve. So the answer is no, we don't do videos on how to fix these problems, but we do generally write the solution in the description.

We clean the area, then we get a good quality automotive sealant, similar to the ones used at the factory (we use Innotec and Wurth) and we put sealant along the seam and wipe off the excess, trying to keep it neat and tidy.
