Hello and welcome, in this great video (featuring wind noise) I set about fixing a tiny water leak into the back of the Focus. I'll show you the common spots where the water comes in, and how to fix the issue - hopefully.

Mine was coming in from the large vent under the back bumper , sealed around it and now not leaking, did all the stuff you have shown in the video first😫

Glad you sorted it, seems to be a common problem 😀
When i had my st it was the rubber gaiter around the boot.

Do you clean the rust before you put the silicone on?

You can do yes, maybe put some rust treatment on it.
lick your finger and wipe the slazo for a cleaner look Paul
