New Again is one of the UK's leading car care companies.
One of the services we provide is detecting leaks, then decontaminating and drying cars which have had water ingress.
On this channel, we document leaks we have found in order to keep a record which might be useful to ourselves or others. The videos are uploaded raw from the workshop, and we use speech-to-text, so please excuse the lack of punctuation in the descriptions. We tidy some of them up as time permits.
We are often asked the solution to the problems we find, we may mention them in video. There might be several options for repair, the car might need to go to a mechanic or body-shop for re-welding or replacement parts. Sometimes the best fix is just a little bit of sealant, but usually we will be replacing door membranes and perished rubber seals.
For us, finding and fixing the leaks is just the beginning of the process. What makes us different is that we are equipped to decontaminate and dry cars.

Do you grind off the weld seams and re-weld or cover with sealant?
These seams are spot welded, like most of the welds on your car, so they don't form a waterproof seam. So at the factory, they put a flexible waterproof filler in them before painting. As the car ages, this flexible filler can harden and shrink. As the car body flexes under cornering, it causes this sealant to crack and cause leaks. There is nothing actually wrong with the integrity of the welds, unless water gets in for long periods of time and causes corrosion. You just need to cut out the old sealant and apply new.
@@newagainautoreconditioning thanks for the detailed reply
You guys are the best I’ve been tryna figure out where my leaks was coming from
Thank you.
Thanks
Thanks
I've got this issue on my drivers door for a 318 touring . The water is (sitting ) like you mentioned on the drivers side well.
U-37 Aygo What is left when your Aygo burns down ? "The wet floor mats"!
It would be wrong for me to laugh....
How did you fix this problem
We replaced the inner door membranes and put sealant over the cracked welds.
My front doorpillars, are green 6 inches from the corner up, water just seems to be pouring from them when it rains, should I take the door pillars off and seal from the inside or should I take the windscreen door seal out and do it from the outside. How do I take the windscreen door seal out?
Windscreen fitting is best left to professionals. It shouldn't cost too much money as they won't be replacing the windscreen, which is the expensive part, just refitting it.
Bad bad model and design
Hi, I’m from Italy, I have the same issues in the passenger side, is completely soaked… how can I fix it?
Funny my car is 2018 and the spoiler on the trunk was my problem. Thanks Ford for continuing to suck for years.
my pug 2013 107 2 door has a puddle when rains in the driver side rear floor i cant find the cause any idea where i should start. thanks
There should not even be that much water there below the windscreen, the drain plugs should empty all that water straight out.
how do you fix this please?
You mentioned the rear air vents in the boot leaking. What can cause this as I have this problem and it just blew my amp. Thanks Al
They just get old. The gasket can shrink, the one-way flap becomes worn out. If they leak it's best to replace them.
Any chance you can help us out with some part numbers for say the door rubbers, those plastic clips on the pillars, and the rubber o-rings too (although any o-ring would probably work, so maybe a generic part number or dimension)??
Sorry no. We don't have parts numbers. We just call up our local supplier and tell them what we want.
Top tip with the sunroof drains, remove the orange cap on the end of the drain in the engine bay. Fixed mine this way
I had two identical water problems like yours, one at the back, and maybe the mechanic fixed it by doing something in the middle where the bumper is underneath, and indeed, they forgot to connect the parking sensor. I believe the problem at the back has been solved; I haven't seen any more water. But in my B-max, I still have the problem on the passenger side under the upholstery, and it's damp. The body shop guy says that there was a missing plug in the door hinge area. But now it's still damp, and I think maybe the problem is with the A/C leaking condensation or the drainage tubes are blocked. Or even in the hood filter where the windshield wipers are, there's a cover that gets dirty a lot, and there are two holes that could be blocked.
Very well explained video. Thank you.
I’ve got the same but mange to clear the front drains water now coming out fast.. but noticed it’s wet under rear passenger seat.. Uk model right hand drive ?? Any ideas guys
Once you are sure the leak is fixed, you will need to dry the car - kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZaOyJRxgr3cXdo.htmlsi=8MD7lzMYS-ZgCWqZ
@@newagainautoreconditioning so what will cause wet under rear passenger seat floor well is flooded and damp under seat. Boot is bone dry and roof and door seals are dry could it be from the front still
@@jamiebennett476 Sorry, KZread has hidden my previous reply to you, so I don't know what I said. So I may repeat myself. Water always finds its way to the lowest point, so there are usually only one or two places it will end up - in the front footwells or in the boot. However there are dozens of ways it can get there. There are about half a dozen common ones that apply to all vehicles, such as leaking inner door membranes, pollen filter housings, blocked scuttle drains etc. And then there are a load of others such as cracked welds, miss-fitted windscreens or missing grommets. So we really can't tell just by where the water is ending up, which is why we do an inspection which checks all the common problems, then allows us to investigate.
Have this one that came in, the rear trunk area seems to be wet and behind the driver and passenger is wet. Drains in the front are good but when I pour water in the rear it runs down the tube, not in it and then comes out of the rear area where the seat belts come out of, ever seen that before on a fiesta?
I believe we have.
@@newagainautoreconditioning any idea of a remedy? Just check drains and tubes?
What was the root issue here? I got a new pipe put it and still have leaks in exact same place
Have a VW Passat estate B5.5 and now 24 years later I now get my son’s to clean the drain hole in the engine bay under the battery tray. First time the ( NS ) passenger side was completely underwater and filled up the rear passenger footwell was completely underwater as well. I now have a wiper arm removal tool, plus I remove the plastic trim that is between the windscreen and engine bay. I have to do it like this to get to the battery. First time trying to do this job my son snapped the plastic cover trying to get the battery out. It took ages to get it out & back in. Now I have trees dropping leaves and twigs that start blocking up my space between the windscreen and engine bay. Now I have a new leak in the rear boot / tailgate that has all of a sudden appeared. She is 24 years old and still a great car to drive and still do not want to change a car that is still like new.
I think I have this problem. Do I have to remove the front seat or can I just remove the side panel and lift the carpet in the front to vacuum up the water?
i think i have a similar leak issue to do with the passenger door rubber. For you though, it really depends on how much water you have in there - if its like someone has dumped a bucket of water in the footwell then you're going to want to get it all out the best you can with the tools to hand, if you can get most of it out with the vacuum and squeezing the foam then great, otherwise you might want to start taking more bits out at a guess.
I have a 2011 VW Passat estate with a sunroof and only a driver’s footwell leaking. Am I correct in thinking/saying the leak is either coming from the sunroof and/or the driver’s door?
There are about half a dozen places on any car (of any make or model) that are prone to drainage being blocked or seals perishing. Door membranes and sun roofs are just two of them. Another common one on Volkswagens are the rear air vents. If you look through our playlist on Volkswagens it should cover all of the usual ones. As water always collects in the lowest point, and this is usually the footwell, the water could be coming from anywhere including a leak at the back of the car. This is why we sell inspections, because we can never tell where the leak is until we investigate.
@@newagainautoreconditioning I found a video on water collecting at the bottom of the windscreen, so removed the windscreen wipers & the plastic trim, found the drain on the driver’s side clogged up with several mm of water sat. Cleared it all out and my footwell so far has stayed dry! Really hoping I’ve fixed it now, saved myself a good few hundred pounds getting it inspected at a garage.
@@Ben_9476 Yep, same goes for most things. As long as you have the tools already, you usually save money doing it yourself.
Kostet 1000€ , um den billigen Schlauch zu wechseln , nie wieder was von VAG kaufen!!
I have a Renault Megan 3 2009 everytime I wash or is raning floor in back get wek I open it there is a lot of water I dried but it is again plz can you tell me how to fix it I am tried of it
The door membrane might be an issue BUT the water in the footwells of all the seats is a different problem all together. The rear bumper off and on either side you see two air vents. That is where water gets in and makes its way to the spare wheel well and the rear foot wells and then forward to front footwells. This is a major issue with not just the Focus model but many other of the ford range. It is a gift Ford gives to every one of their customers for free.
Are you specialist in leaks
So what’s the fix ?
Clear blockages, replace damaged parts.

I can help. So... for the leak on the front floor, there's a white box (12785474) that holds the air cabin filter, it has a foam gasket which with time and heat it shrinks and lets water coming from the windshield, which again with time and heat the windshield cowl (12780681) doesn't completely contact the windshield and thus water gets under it and drips on the white box. To fix this leak. - remove the white box (12785474) that holds the air cabin filter. - remove the foam gasket, clean surface where the gasket was. - apply a medium temperature silicon gasket maker on the same surface the foam gasket was. If I remember correctly the foam gasket sits on a kind of a channel you can fill that channel with silicon gasket maker. Since the box for air cabin filter is just clipped in to the car, I put a fairly thick bead of silicon. And... for a leak on left side or right side of the trunk, on the left side it normally screws up the back amplifier/GPS/"whatever you have there". The culprit is the tail lights. They have the same problem as the windshield cowl... they don't hug car very well. To fix this leak. - remove the tail light. - with patience check which part of the tail light contacts or almost contacts the car. - clean the surfaces on the car and tail light - place a thick bead of the same silicon gasket maker of your choice on the tail light. IMPORTANT especially on the rubber FLAP (that touches the car near the trunk seal). When that flap doesn't stick to the car, water that comes from the roof sides and rear window goes down the water channel of the trunk and under that flap, then it soaks the foam gasket of the tail light and drips inside the trunk killing your precious OEM trunk amplifier. I used Mannol gasket maker 9916. It can be anything other kind of silicon gasket, as long it can remain flexible under, perhaps, 100ºC... for hot days.
That's about right. We would replace the gaskets if possible, as generally, they only get worse with age.
Front screen is the problem, leaking from top
If you have poored a watering can of water on all the doors past the window seal you will get the same, you have rendered the window seal useless daaaaa
Of coarse it's coming out that's why there is a rubber window seal, you have just wedged that seal off of the glass making that seal useless, and pooing a watering can directly into the door.
That's not how it works. That isn't a waterproof seal. The waterproof seal is inside the door.
The wires are in sleeving so no problem there, there aren’t and ecu’s there but there’s on one ecu on the car,
The eps module in on the floor right there. Mine was. F10 535i.
Have you ever done Corsa B? 93-00
And the solution???
Replace the drainage system. We don't think the Range Rover ones are much good, so we suggest making one from scratch out of higher quality hose and connectors.
cool, and where is the fix?
This is not a DIY channel. There are plenty of other channels that show you how to fix cars.
How do you clean them out? Mines doing same thing but filling boot with water
where are you based please
Chelmsford Essex. Details are in the description of the video.
Is thos the same water drainage used on models with no sunroof? Mine gets damp and the windscreen looks like it's been raining inside...
From manufacturer they put TAPE over holes OMG wtf are these car company's for real!!!
That must have been leaking for some time, there's water everywhere!
Hi mate, got in my Vw up the other day and turned a corner and noticed lots of water coming through passenger footwell and was baffled. Left it and kept hearing water sloshing and found this video. Unblocked these drain holes and released a few litres of water! Cheers buddy for the video
Ive got a leak in my J 2010 . Spare wheel mostly under water, i can drain it out, dry it up and within 2 weeks same again. Rear passenger footwell soggy, looks dry until pressed, clearly saturated. Anyone know schematic wise if theres anything under the spare wheel well? Im thinking of just drilling a hole to let the water drain out rather than try find where the water gets in?
Hi I have 2017 Golf with water leak drivers footwell,I cleaned out the drains in the front scuttle below the windscreen and thought that was it,stayed dry for two weeks but checked again and carpet still getting wet, can’t see anything coming in from the door panel, any ideas where else to check? 🙈
Thanks for this same thing with my car. 2015 plate.
