Vauxhall Insignia 2014 | Water Leak in Boot |

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

💧 This Insignia has water in the boot, which we traced to one rear vent. Due to the age of the car, the rear vents could be leaking because they have perished, but there is evidence that the rear of the car has had a nudge which could have caused it on one side.
The water is flowing into the boot, but also running down the box section into the driver's side footwells.
We would recommend replacing both rear vents to stop the leak. The car then should be dried to prevent mould and electrical problems.

The videos shown on this channel are taken from inspection reports, filmed for the customer who has paid for a diagnostic inspection, which comes with a video report. We share them here for informational purposes because the hardest part of fixing leaky cars is finding the leak.
After the initial inspection, if the customer agrees to have the work done, we film progress reports for the customer and will sometimes include them here.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: We don't know. That's why we do a diagnostic inspection. We cannot answer the question of how much it costs to fix before we know the extent of the problem. Prices for our inspection and hourly rates can be found on our website.
Q: Why don't you show us how to fix it?
A: This isn't a DIY channel, we are sharing videos we take for the customer as part of our inspection process. Furthermore, the vast majority of the fixes are simple, and if you need to ask how to fix them, you probably should let a professional deal with it. See below:

⚡ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.
💥 Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain airbags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.
☣️ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.

My 2015 insignia had a leak into the boot, it wasn't the vent because water doesn't flow up. There is a stupid hole in the side covered with tape. One is behind the fuse box in the boot which is easy to access, just fill the hole with mastic. The one on the other side is hidden behind sheet metal, you either cut a hole in the sheet metal or remove the pumper drill out the rivets holding the bumper clips on fill the hole, rivet the holders back on and your good to go. The vents he blocked up only let water in if you submerge the car or put a hose pipe directly on it

I have the leak you are on about and as you say it's not the vent... the vent in the video is letting in water because the hose is pushed upward by it. I'm not sure how to get at the hole on the right side and don't really want to remove the bumper. How far up from the bottom is the leaking hole? If I drill a hole with a cutter will I be able to see it?

I was just trying to figure out where my Opel Insignia 2011 was leaking from. It is most likely from the same place. In order to fix this do I need a new vent? Was wondering if fixing the issue would be considered expensive? Thanks for the video!

They also leak through the bracket either side where the bumper is mounted. It's the plastic bits that hold the bumper, they are riveted to the body. Common leak. Drill them out, sealer underneath and rivet them on again. You can tell it's leaking there if see water in the same area but not visibly coming through the vent.

Yep, replace the whole vent. Do both sides, they aren't expensive, but you do need to take the rear bumper off.

@@CarWaterLeaksFound well i 'gunked' the lower flaps and where the boot hinges sit as that is also a common fault. Washed car, still leake. So poured water over the jpints where the outter bumper meets the body work. Turns out thw waters coming through above the vents and not the vents itself. Still yet to fix. Pain in the back side these cars are. Just recently had a brake servo and 4 plugs fitted. 1700 quid. Brakes failed before xmas. Took 2 minths to source the servo!

The video is a little bit pointless without also showing how to prevent future water ingress. 😂

If you can't figure it out from this video, then you should probably leave it to a professional.

The video is wrong, the leak is from the joint between bumper and wing. Nothing wrong with the vent
