🪴万茂新村,住了几代人,早期的村民多数是小园主,从事橡胶和油棕种植行业。新村大路旁的一排单层木板店屋,有几间都是茶室。它们见证了新村的发展,是当地居民喝茶聊天场所,更是过路客寻找老字号美食的聚集之地。其中,有一间《美和茶餐室》,1962年开始营业,祖传三代,迄今已有61年。
☕超过半世纪的美和茶餐室,初创10年期间是在新村的角头间面向大路,租约期满过后,就搬到隔壁的店铺,一直营业至今。除了一般茶水、生熟蛋、烤面包,也自制加央和经营炒粉档口。这里的加央较为独特,是以鸭蛋来制作,比一般加央特别香滑,而且售价相对便宜。在烤面包上涂一层牛油和加央,简直是绝配!
🍝此外,自小喜欢吃炒粉的阿旺老板,更是把祖传的炒粉功夫发扬光大。他几乎三餐都是以面食来解决,经过几十年的下厨经验,造就了他对食物品质的要求和坚持,延续到今天。他煮的每一道面食都是老饕们的最爱!例如:星洲米粉、焖伊面、干炒面,福建面、滑蛋河、广府鸳鸯等等。此外, 市面上将要失传的特色炒粉“广东炒”也能在这里找得到!
📌我不是美食家,不去点评食物,而是站在另一个角度去欣赏美食,感恩厨师的付出和辛劳,也敬佩传统美食业者的坚持。

🪴Kampung Baru Mambau, a village that has been home to several generations, had a majority of residents who were small estate owners in those days. Along the main road of the new village, there stands a row of single-storey wooden shop lots. Among them, there is a traditional kopitiam called Mui Hua Coffee Shop, which has been in operation since 1962.
☕ Initially, Mui Hua Coffee Shop was located at the corner of the new village, facing the main road. After 10 years, it moved to the shop next door and has been in operation ever since. One of the specialities of this shop is homemade kaya. The kaya here is unique as it is made with duck eggs, resulting in a particularly fragrant and smooth texture, and the price is reasonable. Spreading a layer of butter and kaya on toasted bread is simply a perfect combination!
🍝 The boss has greatly developed his inherited skills in frying noodles. He almost relies on noodle dishes for his three meals a day. Every noodle dish he cooks is a favourite among food enthusiasts! Moreover, you may find unique fried noodles here.
