I love the idea of calling it a "Home Blessing". I now call my evening routine "Home Blessing Time" (not my before bed routine). I wash any pots and pans, wipe down kitchen counter and table, vacuum the kitchen, change dish towels, and put a nice table cloth on kitchen table. This is all with candles, music, and a glass of wine. It's relaxing and helps so much to see it as blessing our home - not drudgery that I try to avoid. The rest of my evening is relaxed because of it and my morning is so much better.

I found the FlyLady system several years ago. I worked with it for about a year or so and then fell off the wagon. Last year, while recuperating, I discovered Diane on KZread and began slowly reincorporating the FlyLady system. Diane’s bubbly personality and “get off your bahookie” spirit makes cleaning playful and efficient. I am grateful that Diane takes her time to share the concepts and tips in a public forum. I am not perfect when it comes to doing the routines or weekly home blessing, but then again, I don’t have to be. I am getting something done and my home and my life are the better for it! Thank you 🙏, Diane!💗

I am even newer to the FlyLady system - a couple of weeks (introduced to me by Dianes Lovely Videos 🥰). Diane Thank You for making All these videos - I Enjoy the Inspiration- yes as Timi Storms stated...the get off your bahookie attitude is Awesome. It just seems like Everything that used to stop me in my tracks to feeling at Peace about daily cleaning and Organizing...has been put to rest. I am getting More Done - look forward to my Daily Routines, and Feel Accomplished without the perfectionism whisper stopping me in my tracks. I used the timer on the Fly Lady app today and decluttered 5 kitchen drawers...So Much Joy! So Much Peace! ( I cleared out everything Special that we use for entertaining and baking projects and put them easy to access in our pantry! Now the drawers are no longer overstuffed- Dreamy!

This woman is a pleasure to listen to , I like the much needed little pep talks also to not get too down on yourself. If you don't feel like doing anything then just do ten minutes of something . And sometimes that's all you need to get going and first thing you know your working for half hour or more . A lot of times it is the initial push to start. Thank you for this .

I've been doing the Fly Lady System on and off for 8 years now, but I always got bogged down with the weekly home blessing because I tried to do the whole house. Thanks to your channel I realised that I only needed to tackle the main traffic areas and to stop moving the furniture. What once took me an entire Saturday morning now takes 40 minutes or less and the house looks great. Thankyou!

Just watching these again! I have been able to keep up with the morning and evening routine, but got into a bit of a depression and froze! But I did what you recommended, I pampered myself and then forgave myself! Couple of days ago I started all over. Kept up with my morning and evening routines and added my home blessing and I’m now doing my zone one. I can’t tell you how helpful this is! Now, I am 74 and living in a one bedroom, 1000 square-foot house. This shouldn’t be difficult! But all of my life I haven’t been able to open the door to company because of the mess... I was always embarrassed by the state of my home! I couldn’t get this under control! But now my home is so lovely and I feel so proud! Just an hour and a half on Monday and now 15 minutes each day has made a world of difference! My house looks clean and (dare I say) pretty!! Not beating myself up and sticking to the morning and evening routine was a godsend! A few minutes ago I was microwaving my lunch, and while it was counting down the five minutes I wiped down a shelf in my refrigerator! Just one but it’s a start! And something that I have been avoiding end it turned out to be not bad at all! I can honestly say that the one thing that has made the biggest difference is the shiny sink and the shoes! Getting dressed to shoes is life altering! I washed an old pair of good supportive sneakers and now use them as my indoor shoes. When I get dressed and put on my sneakers, the rest of it just is a switch that gets turned on! If I sit down I’ve got my shoes on and I get inspired to stand up again.. it is INCREDIBLE!! Thank you thank you thank you for all of your videos and your inspiring talk. I love it that you don’t speak down to us but give us motivation. I’m trying to do this every day because I feel like I want to be a better person now.. and to be proud of myself! I’m not too old to learn and I feel inspired. Thank you

Hubby is off on Mondays so it’s our Relaxation day, Flylady’s Sunday routine. Since it’s zone 1 week, my only extra thing today besides daily routines was 10 minutes outside on the front porch, both of us together. It’s amazing what 10 minutes can do and hubby was happy to give me a hand when I communicated that I only wanted 10 minutes of help. Now it’s relaxing, playing cards and we rented a movie that neither of us had seen. Thanks for the consistent encouragement.

My routines got slightly derailed over the summer. I'm thrilled to be back in action! My WHB consists just of vacuuming, dusting & cleaning glass/mirrors. The other tasks get shifted to other days where they seem more logical with the flow of my week. I love FLY Lady routines - and I love your videos every weekday. I don't get off my bahooky while watching them ... instead, I have my coffee and get my head in the game for the day. Thanks, Diane!

I love the fly lady system and the home blessing because it gives me the structure of knowing what needs to get done. I also find by staying with this system and all you have taught us I then feel more at peace with my new habits. As you have said, “Don’t worry about being perfect and just get started “ has allowed me to feel good about myself and see success in my home and enjoy my life. Thank you Diane for doing these videos and for cheering all of us as we gain control over our homes. I look forward to your videos because you put a smile on my face and point me in the right direction.

I discovered the FlyLady system in February of this year and your channel shortly after. The Weekly Home Blessing has blessed my whole life. I have so much more free time, and that free time is not riddled with the guilt of knowing I should be cleaning. I now have the wonderful task of figuring out what to do on Saturdays because I no longer have a list of chores waiting to be done. A fantastic problem to have!!!

I finished my whb this morning after swishing and swiping . I hung my lol out to dry and I was out the door to the beach. The flylady system really suits my lifestyle. I was only thinking this morning about looking at your whb video again so thank you so much for today's BLOG. With my husband's health so poor I really needed a system like this. Seeing is believing and because I can actually see you getting things done in your work along with you videos youve proved to us all that we can do this. I am just a bit rubbish at pampering myself. I need to book an appointment for eyebrows etc and then I determined that I will do my nails lots of love from Margaret in Cyprus

Thank you for your videos. I am going to binge watch them today. I am retired, and need some kind of structure. My house is pretty clean, but I get a lot of anxiety because I do not know what to do next, what to tackle. I remember years ago when I did flylady, I had more peace of mind. I need that again. Also, I want to declutter because my husband's mom, at 90, went into a nursing home, and the kids are getting rid of all of her stuff. I can see how her keeping all of it was such a waste, and did no one any good. For example, they found boxes and boxes of coffee mugs from trips. Now it is all worthless, and going to charity. I do not want to leave a big mess for my kids to go thru. Anyway, thank you and I will watch all of your videos. Oh, one more thing! The reason my house is pretty clean, is because I have been doing the morning and evening routines for years. Now I want to expand and do the zones.

Very happy to have found you via 'The Secret Slob' who isn't anymore! I read the FLYlady book years ago and incorporated many of her ideas as I was a tech contractor working from home. Your videos have really helped me implement the fly lady system. I’m more organized and keeping the house presentable. We own our own business and also have a farm, so I have lots to do everyday. Even though today was a holiday here and we spent most of it preparing for a hurricane (I’m in southern Mississippi USA), I was able to complete my home blessing. I’ll probably have major cleanup in the next few days, so it’s nice to be organized and not have to worry about the day to day tasks during an emergency. Thanks for your guidance and I love that color blue on you!

I have been dressing to shoes for a few months now...and do make a stab at the program. Today I begin really following the program...and this video helped. I love the way you don't send us out to buy products that we do not need to get started. I love Marla, but feel some videos are very commercial You get right to the point and tell us how to do it. Do have to sneak a peek at her dogs now and again. I do love your hair, and my 11 year old grand daughter thinks it is great..Here goes!!! You have truly inspired me.

I"ve been on and off with Flylady for years now ... much more off than on! I even tried to start a KZread channel to keep myself accountable but that didn't last very long either. I'm now on a mission to improve my life, which includes losing weight (38 lbs down thanks to Weight Watchers), getting stronger (yoga), calming my mind (trying meditation), and getting my environment in order as that will help with keeping calm and reducing stress. So here I am again, back with FlyLady, trying to take care of my life one baby step at a time.

Now, getting ready to have surgery and I just want to purge the contents of this house that belong to 9 people that are no longer living in the house! I need all the help I can get. I go to bed at night thinking, it didn't get this way overnight and I can't get it clean in one day. I'm glad that I happened upon your video. I have subscribed, so 10 minutes of my time will be watching you and your great tips. Thank you and God Bless.

  • @Irene-gq4jr

Tammy, you've made a great start by realizing that it didn't get that way overnight. And no, it won't be gone in a day or even a week unless you are pretty ruthless. Just start *somewhere*. I'm no clutter monster, but still feel I have accumulated far more than I need. I've become more focused since my fiancé proposed and we decided I'd sell and move to his before finding a home together. I really don't want to cart a whole load of unnecessary stuff around with me. I once read if you get rid of one thing per day then in a year you have 365 fewer things. I try to go by that rule, and do more if there's an easy batch to get rid of. I also try to find good homes for perfectly good items I don't use, so they don't always leave immediately but I know I've rehomed them well rather than just binning and wasting things others might benefit from. Next up: three jigsaws to a work colleague and a trip to the local dog shelter with surplus hand and bath towels. Little by little is the best way to go, and before long you do start to see progress. If you've had the surgery I hope it went well and you are on the road to recovery. If you're still waiting, in fact either way, be kind to yourself and don't sweat the small stuff.

I'm finding your videos so incredibly helpful! I'm really glad you did this refresher course -- as I'm new to this, and there are so many components, its sometimes tricky figuring out how it all flows together. This is excellent!! It's really helpful to hear, also, that its not something to be restricted by, but making it fit our life - so helpful! I've generally tended to not like routines in the past, as it feels so externally forced, especially when I need a very flexible schedule in our current life situation - so it is so helpful to hear the approach of using these things in a very personalized way - I like to call them my daily "rhythms" instead of routines, to help me remember that - and I'm loving doing this! Thanks for all your work in making these videos! I love the style of your home, too. I used to live in Europe, and I just love the aesthetic.

Hi Diane, I love the Weekly Home Blessing Hour. I am 95% consistent with my weekly blessing. It is super helpful as a house reset / weekly quick spruce up clean. I just need to learn how to stick to zone cleaning now! Thanks for all your wonderful videos x

Great video! Thanks for mentioning that the way we do the hbh is up to us. (Another flylady mentor pointed out that everyone is their own CEO.) That really helped me. This is my routine: mondays change all bed sheets, tuesdays dust surfaces and wipe glass and mirrors, wednesdays vacuum and mop entrance, kitchen and guest toilet, thursdays vacuum and mop bathroom and son's bedroom (dustmite allergy) and fridays dust mop all floors. This takes me 75 minutes per week. Zone cleaning in the weekend. I also go through my letters and newspapers as I come home, so that's never really been an issue.

Thanks Diane for the reminder of how personalized the WHB can and should be - just hearing you got me going and I love your tips! One thing that also encourages me is remembering that if I need to, I can always drop back to Just Routines - in case of sickness, emergency, etc, I will focus ONLY on routines if necessary. Then I usually find a way, even on a bad day to squeeze in 10 min of something else too. I Love FlyLady, got some control in my home!!:))))

Dear Diane, I too do the paper and bins as we go so to speak. So that leaves me with the other 4 tasks. I usually do some errands on a Monday so some weeks I would split the 40 Mins up. I was pretty on top of it before I got to know about the FlyLady system. But now I have soooo much free time lol. I am doing it much more focused - applause for the timer :) - and I don't have the feeling the only thing I do all week and weekends is clean. I've been telling all my friends here about it. The first reaction is always "the look". But when I get through explaining I start getting the nods and some of them are on it too now. Yey! So thank you again for the videos. I am looking forward to this weeks series.

Thank you Diane, I've fallen off the Flylady wagon a few times but your videos are the best resource I've found to keep me motivated. I find after the busy weekend with 3 kids that I rarely have the energy to do the full WHB in an hour, so I try to divide up the jobs over the week, sometimes doing 2 or 3 of them in the one day as I don't have the energy to do it every day. 3 young kids, home schooling and running a business - I've so little time for housekeeping but this system really helps me keep on track. I recommend you to all my clients too. Thanks so much! Niamh

When I started following you and learning about flylady I refused to do whb...I just couldn't do it all...then I decided to do what I could each day and just break it up. I don't do it every week either unfortunately but with my older two going to school full time this year I hope to really get better at it when it's just me and the baby at home!

I do things everyday and I like that my house is ready for guests anytime. My boys promised to be nice and neat when they were little but I let them have their space. I have enough to do than any them all the time. It's up to them not me. We teach our children by our example but there is always the hope that one day they will do it on their own. My husband and I are both neat. I will keep with my own cleaning and follow along with the schedule. Thank you for the rah, rah, rah...🎉

I had peace in my home even with a multitude of guests due to a family wedding. Three lots including kids and babies. I also had flu. I’ve been flying for about 18 months now, not perfectly but enough so that that potentially stressful time could be a complete joy to us all. My DH couldn’t believe how I flew!! This video will help me hone the WHB to better suit my working day. I work from home. Thanks for your daily faithfulness. You are a huge inspiration ❤️

I’ve never heard of Flylady system before, but it’s exactly what I need! I’m so happy I’ve come across your channel, it’s such a pleasure to listen to you and I cannot wait to start implementing the system in my daily life. I’m overwhelmed with tackling all the cleaning and even though I try to keep my house clean, I know I lack consistency in doing all the little tasks, and they accumulate and I have to muster energy to finally do them. I need something more manageable. You said that when you were starting you needed someone else to tell you what to do - I can totally relate, I’m the same so I’m very happy to have found your helpful and instructive videos. Thanks for creating them!

I’ve really slacked off on the WHB lately and this was the kick in the pants I needed! We have a 2 story home and live pretty equally on each floor, so I have had success setting my timer for 5 minutes per task for one floor and then 5 minutes per task for the second floor. I also have young kids so it is easier to keep an eye on them if I divide it up that way!

But I never really got into the rest of the routine. So glad I stumbled across you on KZread and will get back into the swing of it. Thank you very much for this. I've been watching you for months but i finally wrote down a plan for my week. One for if i do it all in one go and one for if i do it daily. All in one go - Bed, Dusting, Shine, Bins, Hoover, Mop, Paper and one per day - Mon - Sunday - Dusting, Shine, Hoover, Mop, Bed, Paper, Bins. Thanks for reminding me to change it to suit and that doing something is better than doing nothing. :)

Hi Diane... from Wellington New Zealand on a cold, windy and wet spring day. Thanks for all your encouraging and motivating posts - so very much appreciated. 🙂 One of the things I got from today’s post is that I may not be doing things 100% ‘by the book’ so to speak, but at least I’m doing something - lots of 5-10 minute sessions of clearing and decluttering with great results. I’m only keeping any non essential stuff that makes me happy when I look at it and which I’ve now put in a more prominent place - it can’t give me joy if it’s stuck in a cupboard and I never see it!!!

We take the trash & recycling outside to the bins every Tuesday evening. Every other Tuesday we roll the garbage bin & recycling bin out to the street. We recycle a lot and don't have much garbage (me, 70yrs old, & Millenial son), but we always put out garbage bin so bears don't show up. They got into garbage only once in last 2yrs.

I am just catching up on watching these refreshing "refresher" videos because we have just gotten back into the regular routine from celebrating the Labor Day holiday which was on Monday, September 3rd. That being said, I am breaking up the WHB hour to a task a day rather than one fell swoop this week. All that is left is mopping :) I think I will use my "swoosh swoosh mop" instead of my FlyLady mop because that will still be good enough! Reminding myself that not all weeks look the same and there is JoY in the process, routines, zones and all.
