This is my design... I'm pretty proud of the design. Seeing how well the Hornet flies and how good of a job Leigh did at building the Hornet really fills me with pride. Thank you for doing such a fine job, Leigh!

@TheyCallMeFestus I think we stopped counting at around $12,000.00 but not a great deal more and that was including tools and everything. Pretty good for one's own personal flying machine. Yes we have had a great time and I am very proud of what my son has built and what we accomplished together. Thank you.

@gilgsn Tanks and sorry took so long to reply. We went with the 503 as we were going to be more than 254lbs. We finished up at 350lbs empty weight. If we were doing it again I would go for the 582 engine. Not much heavier and can use the extra power. Have been away from the US so no chance to fly. Hopefully back soon.

No pictures of that regretably. Our dummy cheek plates were wood which allowed us to drill multiple holes at little cost to get an optimum hang angle.

The rotors were 23' Dragon Wings and the prop was a 3 blade 62" Warp Drive. The engine was a 503 DC DI and I got 319lbs on a static thrust test.

The intention was not to leave the circuit area. Ground runs and possibly a circuit or two.

I never left the circuit, and I like close circuits. Later did try the full 10 Gall capacity, which, with the 503, and mid summer temps in Florida decided me that this was optimistic with the 503 engine.
